I think it would depend of the other being had free will or not.
It's kind of like, God having Faith in Moses to obey Him. And Moses did not always obey God, and that made God angry. Why did God get angry? Because the one that He had faith in to do His bidding, didnt do it so that's like a friend letting you down. No wonder He got angry.
Faith is very much like trust. And what do we do when we get born again? I begin obeying and seeking God's face. And we pray then we read more then pray more and so on. After awhile, God rewards you for your obedience and does something supernatural for you which is a Blessing for us and encourages our faith in Him.
How do people know when they can trust God? Well, let's back up, lol. How does God know that He can trust you?! So in a way it is sort of like building up a resume of trust with our Lord. Back and forth both ways. God saved my life and that touched my heart and I knew He was real. And I was so grateful for Him saving my life that I rededicated my life to Him like never before, and I attacked His word with a fervor and began absorbing it, and praying and praising Him and thanking Him and then go absorb some more of His word...it didn't take long, a matter of weeks I think. God may have saw the effort that I was making and took note of it and wondered can I get Ed to where I can trust him?! So the Lord gave me some blessings to ponder over. Things that happened supernaturally yet in a way that it was undeniable that that could have only been God. So my Faith in Him was encouraged, they were signs for me, and who dont like that and being encouraged?!
We was on earth and lost our ability to see the supernatural and the Kingdom of God in the fall, and so how else shall a man believe unless God gives us a sign? It is not good to only seek after the signs and miracles, it is the one behind them, the one who is doing the miracles. And when we seek after Him instead of the signs, then He gets so happy with us that He shows us some favor. Then He will begin to instruct you almost like, you got promoted in a way. Then He will (Guaranteed) give you a task to do so you may be led into even greater faith in Him and you will not like it! He will give you something to do that you dont want to do. He is testing your faith in Him and tryng to build a resume of trust with you. Did you obey the unwanted task? No? Then He cant trust you or have any faith in you because one who cant be trusted with little can not be trusted with a lot and so forth.
But if you do obey Him and do the unwanted task, then your faith in Him grows and His faith in you grows! God told me to give away my business to my son and move from Colorado back to Ohio where I have family. I was adamantly set against ever moving to Ohio again. Who moves from Colorful Colorado to...ohio? I liked it out there and God knew these things of course. (Prolly why He told me to move!) And I said no in my heart. But, here I am in Ohio. A series of warnings to me brought me around to His way of thinking and I packed up and moved here. (So, God's faith in me to obey Him was not disappointing to Him?!) Apparently not! I can't even list how many Blessings that I have received from the Lord since I arrived and obeyed Him. Too many to list.
It hasnt gotten easier though. It's still an uphill walk and that makes sense to me because When God gives you a big task to do and you dont want to or can't see how it is possible but you do it anyway holding our faith in Him, it winds up being a series of back and forth building the resume with new entry's. The next task after you obey and He is with you through it will be even harder than this one was! I think heard that characterized with, God takes us from glory to glory. And that's the way it is climbing the Mountain of God. It gets steeper and steeper as you go.
Good question.
