You know what happens when things are going "good" for too long? The church falls away, just like Israel fell away and "forgot" God when she experienced good times. And lost souls wax worse and become hedonistic. (And then the evil comes as a consequence.....the sovereign Lord has to judge and discipline using evil.) That is the "good" of this world........yes, it "seems" better than the evil, it's for sure more comfortable and easier to take....but it's deceptive because the flesh is so weak and so easily becomes spoiled.

"Good" isn't what the church is supposed to run after.......we're supposed to run after and seek the kingdom of God and HIS righteousness, the Tree of Life, not be running after and seeking and setting our hearts on the "good" of this world. And then good things will be added unto us....but then eventually we get spoiled and have to be disciplined, and the cycle repeats itself.....until we learn to rise above both the good and the evil. I think that is like Paul who had learned both to abase and abound, in the Lord. We need to die out to both the good and the evil of this world.
