Should there be a follow-up question to ask those who reply "Christian" if they are born again?

I've been assured that people who declare that "Jesus is Lord" and who strive to follow his commandments cannot accurately be described as "Christian" unless they have been "born again".

Maybe those who profess to being "born again" should get a sparkly, gold cross by their name to differentiate them from the unwashed masses. How about it?
Would you ban all people who don't believe exactly as you believe?

Yes, I can relete but I do know that it’s me that doesn’t draw near, not the other way around. I knew the presence more when I was going through years of inner healing , but at the time it was needed. Maybe it’s about trusting in the presence rather than feeling it all the time
I think it also depends on life experiences, we are human and emotional upheavals can have an impact, I lost my dad and then my daughter tried to end her life, then I had health issue and retired and moved- and yet looking back through last year, so many blessings. We are all works in progress xx
I relate to all you've said here. This is how it has seemed in my life.

Much love!

I feel like this is satirical and people are going to be mad.

Giant early 2000s blingee art.

Don’t feel that way, @Rita. I was born again when I was just a young man. It wasn’t anything dramatic, but over the years, the Lord has patiently worked in my life, cutting off strong and unhealthy habits-and He’s still working in me.

My struggle now is that I don’t experience the presence of the Holy Spirit as I once did. Is this the same with you?

I can only stand in awe of the testimonies shared by others.

Keep the faith sister.

Johann.
There's a whole song about that.

Sometimes it is not necessarily a bad thing, if you stay rooted. God can surprise you.

I call it God's trust fall. Where you still seek him and trust blindly, and he says, "Do you still believe?"

Thank you for this beautiful song-yes, I still believe.

There are currently 45K Churches who claim to be of the Christian faith....why is there so many denominations of the same Christian faith but yet differ in their interpretation of the Bible? That is what forums such as this one has as members, each contributing their beliefs in various threads. I am positive I have not encountered all 45K of the denominations here, but if a person claims they are a Christian then we accept them as a new member. Soon enough it will be easy to recognize what fruit they bear.

That never happened for me. I'm obviously NOT born again.

Ok, how can I change my classification to something besides "Christian"?
If you change to other faith you won't be able to post on Christian threads.

If you have confessed with your mouth and believed in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for your sins, and that He was raised again....and have repented of your sins. Then according to scripture you are saved!

I caught on to this user being a troll pretty quickly but didn't want to say anything because most folks around this board revere this user and fall for their bait.
Truthfully, @NotTheRock isn't a troll. I feel like that title gets thrown around incorrectly. A troll is someone just causing trouble for the sake of nothing but their own amusement.

What OP is doing is being facetious and using humor to prove a point. If the cause is good, that is not a troll. Sometimes it's kinder than just blowing up at someone.

But people who use the internet and are "satire blind" won't take it well.

A staff member posted their personal definition of who is a Christian and said that anyone who is NOT "born again" is NOT a Christian. I took exception to their definition and created this thread.

I get where you are coming from and it probably could have been handled differently, but you should read what Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3, for your sake.

Don't worry about denominations. It's not important. What Christ said is plain and simple.

Best you study it yourself.

Thank you.

Is it POSSIBLE that one can proclaim the following but not be born again?

Jesus is Lord!
I believe in Jesus.
I believe that Jesus is the Christ.
I believe that Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross to save ALL people.
I believe in Jesus's commandments and strive to follow them, especially the commandment to love others.
I believe that Jesus was resurrected on the third day.
I believe that Jesus is the ONLY path to salvation.
I believe that Jesus sits on the right-hand side of our Heavenly Father.

Yes, you're reborn of spirit, but be baptized. You get half a blingee.

Jesus himself was baptized in water by John the Baptist.

So notice he says water AND spirit.

I think it would be a really interesting Bible study to look into someday about being baptized with water.

Pretty much talk to any non-denominational or Baptist church and they'll more than likely do it for you.
