Seen a lot of change in your area over the years ?

Oh definitely!!! Initially our area was Hispanic, in a business district. There were some white people, hardly any blacks. I can remember a five and dime store and shop fronts, etc, along the boulevard.

Construction began on our nice subway system in 1990. The shops made way for a nice subway station. My mom and I used the subway alot for sightseeing and errands.

Now for maybe the last twenty years or so, our area has a lot of Koreans so it was renamed Koreatown. We still have Hispanics, whites and some black people...but Koreans have many businesses and churches in our area, as well as living here.

Also, many luxury apartment buildings have been built already...and are still being built. If they tear my building down to build a luxury building, I will probably have to move out of California. Those apartments are way too expensive.

Going day by day with God's help for now.

Wow , that is a lot of change but it was gradual change at least . I can imagine the subway would be very helpful and cheaper than car transport .

The subway was very helpful after I wasn't owning a car. Now at 74, I take a taxi, as I don't walk as easily.

Each subway station has different colors and art works. One has Neon light sculptures hanging from the ceiling.

The aquarium is large...my mom and I would visit it. The light panel box that you talk into....it would have voices from famous old movie stars. And if you watched the lights at the proper angle, you would see their faces and a train go by....made up of just light sticks.

I would say "Johnny Weissmuller" into it....the tourists probably wondered why a Tarzan yell was all over the subway station! It was loud. Would say Lassie and she barked, Marilyn Monroe would say something, etc.

Union Station where the aquarium is.

Hollywood and Vine station. The ceiling is made of old movie reels. Two antique movie cameras there. Columns are like Palm trees. I used to get off here to go to Trader Joe's.

Sunset Vermont station. I would get off here once in a while.

I love the subway...wish I could hop on it still.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Mine was quiet but nice.

On Christmas Eve a neighbor gave me a turkey dinner. I had two meals from it and it was delicious. Last night another neighbor gave me a slice of fruitcake. A different neighbor gave me a small bag of goodies. And some neighbors that moved to Kansas told me to expect a gift card by Saturday.

Still enjoying my little Christmas tree with lights at night. And have stuffed snowmen as decorations.

Are you getting any snow in MD? I have heard from a few people that Pittsburgh, PA where I grew up doesn't get as much snow nowadays. Of course, it's not near the ocean but does have the three big rivers.

Our local channels all have been covering the wildfires 24/7 since the first wildfire started.

Now there are four wildfires. The hurricane like winds caused the problems... blowing embers for miles. Also, water and flame retardant dropping aircraft couldn't fly in the winds.

I'm safe in the heart of Los Angeles. It's mainly wealthier areas of homes being burned down.

Good to hear you are safe. I read some news on the fires, but I wasn't sure the extent. Love the cat videos and Trump won the election.

Indoor gymns are nice! And a good socializing area sometimes. I would bring my usual energy drink for extra boost. Rice is good before workout and good protein after, you probably have some recommendations on things like that too?

Have you met any other Christians that way or spread the gospel of Christ?
