Prayers for you and Mr. Duck.

If CPAP machines (CVS has them) are outside your budget and/or not covered by your insurance, sleeping on your side will keep your throat from collapsing into your airway, which is the cause of apnea. It's not a total solution, but it helps.

Hello,

For someone who has used a CPAP machine since 1996, I have a limited experience with this condition.

There are many forms where the breathing patterns of a person are disrupted.

Sleep apnoea is generally hereditary, and I inherited this condition from my grandfather. I suffer from obstructive sleep apnoea where my tongue blocks my throat and prevents me from drawing in air to breath while asleep. I also have a nephew who has also developed brain wave disruptive sleep apnoea on top of his obstructive sleep apnoea.

The available technology today allows people to be diagnosed at home where the number of apnoea's per hour can be determined and the pressure level determined to reduce the number of apnoea's per hour to under 5 apnoea per hour. People with less than 5 apnoea's per hour are not necessarily recommended to use a CPAP machine.

In 1996 I was experiencing 75 apnoea's an hour whereas today my level of apnoea's per hour is less than 1 per hr/night.

In 1996 I was having micro sleeps in the middle of a conversation and people thought that I was just rude. I was falling asleep while driving a car or riding my motorbike.

Today I am so dependent on my CPAP machine that I cannot just lie down and have a nap without putting on the CPAP machine first. This can be considered to be a handicap but for me it is just the way I have to live my life.

Sleep issues can have severe consequences for people and back in 1994 a friend of mine lied down for an afternoon nap and had a massive heart attack and died during her afternoon nap. Sleep Apnoea is very similar to altitude sickness where the lack of oxygen in the blood being pumped around the body can cause heart muscle failures which people cannot recover from.

So far, I have been fortunate, and my sleep apnoea condition is controllable. I have purchased a backup battery which can handle up to a 3 hr disruption to any mains power supply issues.

In Australia there are many sleep-disorder clinic which will help to determine what the sleeping disorder might be.

I would recommend going to a sleep-disorder clinic and have a sleep test to see if you have a sleep apnoea issue.

Shalom

This caught my eyes. What is brain wave disruptive sleep apnea? For years, I have had tines when (I call it) I forget to breathe. It is a brain thing. I have talked to a close friend about this who is a trauma survivor as I am (SRA/MK). She said that when she was fully integrated and her brain was healed, her apnea ceased.

@DuckieLady I want to explain the type of apnea I have dealt with. It often happens as soon as I begin to fall off to sleep. My brain just forgets to tell the body to breathe. I start to fall into someplace deep ....drift deep, into a sleep ...and I can feel something in my brain coupled with noticing my body has stopped breathing ...and I wake up with a big gasp for air.

Sometimes, I will fall asleep and this happens while I'm asleep. While I'm asleep, I feel myself go someplace deep inside ...almost like a feeling of sedation. The brain doesn't tell the body to breathe .. and the body stops breathing. There is a struggle for oxygen (in a dream state) and then a sense of peace when I stop struggling ...and it's at that point my brain says, "Hey, wait! Wake up!!" And I wake up gasping for air and my heart rate is up. It settles once I take some good deep breaths for a minute or so. But these episodes for me are a mixture ....a thing that happens in the brain that doesn't tell the body to breathe, and a drowning trauma memory. The cult does these to induce dissociation. Anyway ....for me, it happens most when I'm stressed and exhausted. It hasn't been as prevalent the last year or so. Maybe my brain is healing on the high fat, high protein diet ....I hope.

I think I'll research what @Jay Ross mentioned and see if that's what I'm dealing with, at least in part. I'll pray for you.

@TLHKAJ You have described your experience with breathing difficulties. That is fine, however what my experiences with disruptive sleeping problems might be, they may be very different to what Fluffy may be experiencing.

The best advice for Fluffy, is for her to do a sleep study and for the experts to determine what her problems might be, and what the best solution will be for her circumstances.

It is unwise for me to be giving any other advise.

From my reading on systemic inflammation in the body, and the testimony of those who have reduced it in their bodies though a clean diet and specific supplements, sleep apnea is one of the things that ceased.

I didn't give her any advice actually. I described my experience ...and then said I would pray for her. :)

I found out from Mr. Duck that I have sleep apnea. (I had no idea and I don't remember anything he was telling me about.) This might be the reason I'm so exhausted.

Please pray we find a good way to deal with it, because now I'm a little anxious about it.

Thank you
Maybe you should see a doctor.

Thank you, Jay. This is what I should have recommended in the first place.

@DuckieLady, if your health insurance works the way ours does, you'll have to get a referral for a "sleep study" from your Primary Care Physician. The sleep clinic will have you come in a couple hours before normal bedtime. They'll hook you up to some heart and respiratory and brain-wave monitoring equipment. (And you're expected to fall asleep with all that junk hooked up to you.) They woke me a couple of times, first to have me try sleeping on my side (which reduced me from 30+ apnea events/hour to 6, which is still too high), and then to try it with the CPAP (which won't be comfortable at first; it takes about a month to get used to). When they got the data they needed, they kicked me out around midnight and let me finish sleeping in my own bed.

My cardiologist says that apnea also affects the heart, so you do want to get it taken care of.

Just sleep on your side and problem is a lot better. Most doctors are corporate quacks that will push products on you that you don't need. Fresh air is a good cure, a lot of people in the old days slept with the windows open all year long because they knew fresh air was good for them.

What Mr. Duck said was he had to gently wake me a couple times to get me breathing.

I used a sleep tracker last night and now I think I can hear it. It sounds like I'm choking on my tongue so I might just need a mouth guard, which I was supposed to be wearing anyway because of TMJ.

I quit wearing mine because I could never keep them in and I have no control when I am asleep. Because I'm asleep. I'd put it in my mouth the night before and when I woke up, it would be under my bed somehow.

But now it looks like they make these big strap things that go over your whole head.

UNFORTUNATELY, I snore in a not cute way.

Sister i had that about four or five years back . I would wake up sucking for air .
I quickly learned to turn on my side . Ever since then it dont occur .
I cant figure out why sleeping on my back does it but sleeping on my side removed it .
OTher than the tongue relaxing . But still why did i stop breathing . anyway
try sleeping on your side . now get pillows to align your neck to straight
and pillows in front of you so as you can wrap the arm over it . cause if not somtimes the shoulder rolls forward
and that can cause a sore top shoulder . Just sleep on your side and see what happens .

the reason why most doctors push PRODUCTS is due to BIG PHARMA infiltratred them realms .
COMMON SENSE and good old remedies HAD TO BE REMOVED . MONEY baby . they dont give , THE BIG PHARMA elites ,
A RIP one about our health . THE PROBLEM IS
they infiltrated health , medicine and etc YEARS AGO .
DOCTORS For years have been raised up on PHARMA instruction , NOT ACTUAL good old fashoined common things
THAT EVEN OLD TIMERS KNEW and did . IN fact that stuff is reguared to them as OLD STUFF that dont work .
My advice i give is this and tis real simple . This is not against doctors or pharmacists
cause THEY DONT KNOW its how they were trained . SO this next advice i give is against
THE TRUE ELITES that run that big pharma . THEY DONT GIVE A RIP ABOUT US , THEY LOVE MONEY and profits .

I wish I could! Unfortunately my vertigo won't let me. I also have to lay propped up because I have GERD. I don't totally get why, but the doctors I had at the time kept saying it.

But I think a mouth guard will solve a few problems.

Please pray we find a good way to deal with it, because now I'm a little anxious about it.

Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Have you considered going to the Word of the Lord and standing on His promises of health and healing that Jesus paid for at the cross?

OR, will you trust in the wisdom of man going to doctors spending all you have and get worse?

It's funny (not in a good way) that most Christians reject God's Promises and go with the wisdom of man and get worse... then tell everyone it was God's will for them to get worse cause God is trying to teach them something, while satan is laughing at them for rejecting God's Promises in favor of the devil's lies! clueless-doh.gif

Ah, Fluffy, before 1996, I was the village alarm clock, because of my bed, as I would wake up coughing loudly because of the "bed dust etc.". I remember one trip to an island in about 1993, where I kept the whole island awake on the last night there because of my snoring which would then set off the dogs barking. In the morning, I was so tired that I could not drive and dozed in the car on and off for the 8 hr trip back to civilization across the top end of Australia.

Back in the 1990's little was known about Sleep Apnoea and it took me a while to stumble upon the solution to my sleeping problems. In fact, going through airport security in 1996 my CPAP machine caused the x-ray people to be alarmed because they had not seen a CPAP machine before that time.

All I am suggesting is that you do a sleep study to determine what the real issue might be so that the problem(s) can be dealt with in the most appropriate way. There are a lot of "quack" fixes out there that promise to fix problems sight unseen by these companies with respect to sleeping disorders. It requires experienced specialists in sleeping disorders to be able to determine what the right solution(s) might be.

Some of what you are doing at the moment to sleep might be adding to your "problem(s), and a clinical sleep study where your sleeping patterns can be observed will help focus on the underlying causes for your disturbed sleeping patterns.

Trying the "cheapest" solution(s) is not always the "cheapest" solution for everyone.

Putting your faith in God to provide the right solution just for you means that you have to put your "money" where your mouth is to step out trusting God to provide the means to resolve our health issues.

Walk with God and trust Him to show you the right way to become rested in Him.

Shalom
