I am somewhat selfishly asking for prayer for a decent washing machine. Washing by hand for four people is wearing me out and after doing all the sheets by hand is hard. Even with a wringer it's taking a lot of work.

I don't usually ask for these kinds of things but I just did two loads by hand and I'm exhausted.

We may buy a new one in the next few weeks but if it's God's will for a better way that is less costly we will welcome it.

I have been there, many many years ago - with four children. My machine had broken and my husband just didn’t see it as a priority- so for a month I had to do what you are doing. My eldest got mad with my ex and went out and brought me a new machine - bless him.
Quite funny actually after my marriage ended and my ex was sofa hopping ( but with someone else as well ) He rang up and asked if I would do his washing ( yes , I know !!!!!! ) I told him he should try hand washing lol
I hope you get one soon xxxxxxxxxx

Lol yes it's very hard. So sweet of your oldest to get a machine.

@SERVANTedu has been looking around, but they are not cheap.

The hardest part is some chores triggers my BVVP. (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) So I got a couple of loads done but now I'm nauseated and feeling sick. And when I take the Dramamine it will make me sleep. Then nothing else will get done.

I typically wash most of my clothes out by hand and do my husbands in a washing machine. We had ours break this year. Its 21 years old so was bound to at some point. However, I was able to find someone to fix it but it took a month before we had it working while looking for the part. Doing a whole families wash would be overwhelming, you might want to visit a laundry mat.

When I did so by hand (my husbands things) I used 3 (7 gallon) buckets to wash/rinse them and one of those stick plungers (set up on cement blocks outside) and I found it really easy that way. What I did not have was a wringer washer because mine was terrible and I took out my fustrations on it and ended its life. But even though I could not use the washer to do wash fully I could use the spin cycle. If you can use it to just spin the clothes that takes care of the worst of the work, all thats left after that is either to just hang them to dry or use your dryer (if you have one and its still working). Your circumstances are likely different.

I was searching myself for a new washer (if mine could not be fixed) and one got a highly reccomended to me on the basis of what I was looking for in one, because I wanted a top loader with agitator and I didnt want other certain features, like water sensors, I wanted certain manual things, and the least amount of smart things (or rather more dumb). I'll have to look for it. Although, you might have different space requirements, or desired dimensions and features as far as technology goes. I will pray the Lord makes a way for you in the laundry area of things.

Feeling for you Sis

Oh so sorry - they are expensive in the US , maybe because they are bigger than the ones we use. Do the companies ever offer finance so that you can pay for them over a 6month period without interest ?

That's sort of what I did. I hate going to laundromats! When I moved in here and inherited this house when my Dad passed, it had a washer hook up but not dryer. I didn't own either anymore so I went to a 2nd hand appliance store and picked some out. Now I always expect to have problems with used equipment and sure enough, as soon I hooked up the washer it started leaking so I was back on that phone fast saying hey come fix it now, it should at least be water tight in the water lines, lol!

That poor guy and his little shop. He had to make 3 trips out to fix it! He wouldn'r buy new parts! But he did and I was impressed. It's been working good and leak free for almost 6 or 7 years now? Not bad for $150 bucks for the pair. Not a true pair, just two white ones that worked.

Once I cut into the drain line and put in a proper trap which only took me about 35 minutes because that's what I do, or did, lol.

Yes, over here, if you buy a reconditioned washing machine it’s guaranteed for 6 months.

Same here I think. Maybe 30 days? I dunno. But even 30 days is enough time to make it work so just be sure to call a lot to keep your ticket on the top of the desk!

We have a place that guarentees them for a year, so thats not such a bad deal if you have to pay $150-$300 a year for old when the new ones cost 4-8 times more than that.

I am trying to find a wall oven that has no wifi capabilities (or apps or any kind of smart stuff built into it) or anything that needs to be updates that will fit the area I need to place it.

The rightside spring on the door hinge broke like 3 years ago and now the left side spring broke last year, so the door falls down, and its nearly 40 years old itself. It doesnt stay closed so I have been wrapping one of those short ball bungee cords around the handle and latching it to a screw inside the upper cabinet. So I will rig things to extend their life span.

Press n seal works great on a cracked wall tile in the shower, just be sure change it whenever necessary.

Just looked the word up ,yes he had a lot of audacity - we would probably use the word ‘ Cheek ‘ where I live.
The Yiddish dictionary's defining example of chutzpah is a child who murders his parents - and then pleads to the judge to have mercy on him because he's an orphan.

Blessings, just wanted to stop by and let you two know that quality of the old washers(20 years old or older) are many times better than the new. The new are not built to last. If I was looking for one I would look for old G.E. that was updated or renewed.

Yes, it seems to be the case with many things. My daughter has just brought a new cooker, but it feels way more solid than the one I got a few years back. Also the guarantees with things is way shorter then they use to be, back in the day it wasn’t unusual to get something that was covered to last 5-10 years, now it’s 6months !!

We have a nearby laundry mat but we're only going there for large blankets. When we used to use paid machines it cost about $80+ a month.

Neither of us are on regular social media but Mr. Duck seems to want a good one anyway so that it won't have to be replaced. Then we'll do the warranty.

I had a friend years ago whose machine broke down and it only needed a single part, but he had the warranty after 20 years. So he called the company and since that part was no longer produced, they sent him a brand new set. He gave me the old one and fixed it somehow.

Moral of the story: take ten minutes to fill out the warranty. it's probably worth it
