I was always a dog person. I never knew anything about cats...I thought they were only aloof. But when I adopted my first street kitten, I soon learned about them. (I had a Shih Tzu at the time.) I also was feeding about 12 strays at the time.

If you feed stray cats they grow to love you and will allow petting. They will even follow you around like a dog would. Once a stray cat I fed followed me for a block to the end of my street. Then he waited until I returned and came back home with me.

My cat, Holly, would follow me around in the apartment all of the time. I had rescued her as a tiny kitten.

Basically cats love kind, gentle people.

I’m definitely a cat person as well. All three of my cats are recuses. One was a stray someone was trying to kill as a kitten. By time I got there he killed 1 of the three kittens. I took the other two. One died at the vets. Had to put them down. Their organs were destroyed inside their body and unable to pass waste. Was very sad. The other survived. Had to bottle feed him every three hours. At work I came home at lunch and fed him. He’s now 7 years old. The other two cats I have were rescued from a cat coalition. One was taken from an abusive home. Had her for months before I could even pet her. Took hours each day. She was adopted and returned 6 times because she would bite and hiss and attack them until I got her. Now I’ve had her for 3 years. One came from a place where the guy was tossing random cats to a dog that was killing them and recording it. I rescued them and took them to the coalition. Then a week later adopted one of them. At fordt
To just foster but decided to keep and I’ve had for about 8 months now.

This is the one from the dog attacks.

The calico is the rescue that kept getting returned. The gray one is the kitten I saved from the man that killed the other two.

Do you find that a cat likes one person more than the rest of the family ?

I seen a cat protect a baby child 1 year old to 2 years old from a dog that wanted to attack the baby child, it was on the news. the cat went flying out to save the child !

I think it's the male cats that can be a real goer and attack dogs as i seen such as that with my younger brothers cat, i was walking down the halway and along came pittin happy as looking up to me with a meeow content as ! but the elder brother had turned up at the back door as he had walked up from his house down the road like. so when pittin seen this staffy dog at the flyscreen door, he went directly for the dog ! wild as ! and another time with the same the door was open and the cat attacked the dog chase it away, it was right behind the dog and out to the front of the house and across the street.

Not to mention most cats would have their 5 min running around the house flatout, bloody funny to see when they do that, but pitin would fly up a huge tree that was out the back, up higher than the top of our two story house the cat would go and then come down no problem at all. you could hear the claws scratching on the way down and then he would jump from about 10ft from the bottom. just showing off maybe ?
But i would go for a run at night at times and pittin would come with me if our dogs did not, as they had run the pads off their feet from chasing me on my dirt bike for 30 miles or so, so the next day they were tender foot. but pittin would come untill he heard dogs barking and go home, even if i picked him up the barking got to him and freeked out to get away. where we lived it had no street lights back then like we have now, it's like daylight where we are now.

Beautiful cats...so glad you rescued them. All of my several cats through the years were rescued from my street and one whose owner died. They were all very good and loving cats.

My Miss Kitty died in February....I am too old to get another one as I wouldn't want it to be left alone when I pass on to be with the Lord.

Miss Kitty was a stray on my street, too. So beautiful to be tossed out....

I think cats warm up to everyone except if someone doesn't like cats. Also, if someone is too rough with them, they wouldn't like that.

If you are nice to them, they like you. They are nice companions. Graceful the way they walk and jump. And easier to just clean the litter box daily if you don't have a yard for a dog.

I know 3 people up the road who totaly hate cats and will try to kill them ? nasty to them ! and demand do not want them outside of a house at all !

We do not have a Cat but we do have one who comes to see us at times or it sleeps next door porch at times, so one of them dudes who hates cats is talking to me and i said about the cat is back over next door porch. and he was like all fired up, get the hose out directly and hose it of next door porch 100% like full on and I was No No No ! I am not hoseing on my next doors porch not to mention, they like that cat, so it would not go down well if one was to do such a thing at all, plus they are outright young greenys ! So No ! They had their cat go missing when they came renting with in a month say, so No ! bloody hell ! if they think i would do something like that to a cat then god knows what they may think ! so No ! next think they could think that i am eating the cars or something ? you never know !
Old mate can do what he likes at his own house or next door but keep me out of any such.
I do not want to hurt animals !
I even got my mates kid to take their cat of the bed i was going to sleep in,because it did not want to get off the bed and hissed at me !
Another mates place, he tossed a matrest on the floor for me and the cat was on it when i went to bed and it would not go, but it was down neer my feet.
Another mates place the cat came and wanted to sleep on my chest, i just swooched it off me directly and it came back on directly, time and time again ! I had to sleep on my side to stop it.

Mt sister had a cat that i could not have near me or my eyes got issues with and if i pet it I would go wash my hands directly after, it just has a smell about it and it was cleen inside cat ! and it's brother Pitin smell like pepper so i would call it Pepper Pitt, nice smell and fine. I would wash him at times and he did not like such but in the morning he was happy for sure to be so cleen. they just do not like the water, but i would make it warm for him and he knew he was not going to be killed but just the same he was not all for it.

If people would only get the cats spayed or neutered...then they don't have all of the kittens. Some towns pay for spay, neuter, at least here in the USA.

Years ago I was feeding 12 strays because someone in our building dumped their unspayed cat outside!!! She had kittens of course.

So I got in contact with an animal rescue group and they helped me get all of those stray cats spayed and neutered. After some years the cats died or got adopted so I didn't see any more cats, so stopped feeding.

Spay neuter is called TNR...trap, neuter, release. It really works to control the population.

First thing to get straight, what is the non-emotional ROI? Cats purge your living area of vermin, such as mice.

Dogs alert you to physical danger. Big dogs may attack a predator. Even small dogs are on watch. Their bark tells you something is amiss.

Most of the time both function as the beloved family pet. I once took a family pic and included my dog, Copper.

I have another topic with videos of hero cats. Cats attacking a burglar, chasing off a dog which was attacking a child, etc. So cats can rise to the occasion!

The word “can” is dubious, not to be confused with reliable. Perhaps if I was actually being attacked by a burglar, the cat would assist.

I much, much prefer the dogs to alert me to the burglars presence while they are outside the house perimeter. Not for nothing do I have the sticker, “Nevermind the dog. Beware of the Owner” With a pic of a smoking .357. It is my way of performing a Public Service Announcement; letting the burglar know he has only seconds to live if he doesn’t repent of his ways. :Ohz
