A believer who when they don't agree with scripture says scripture is written by a man not God

Having to do with having the right to be called children of God, which came up in a discussion I had.

John 1
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His [c]own, and His [d]own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

So when I showed that too him, he said it was written by a man, not God.
The person believes all people are the children of God, no mater what they believe.
Scriptures say God only recognizes as His children those who have believed in Christ.

I see this as someone who does not accept scripture as being written by God, only written by men.
Convenient way of dismissing scripture as authoritative.
And shuts down any further discussion, as really then there is nothing to discuss.
If your going to study scripture as the word of God, you have to believe it is the word of God.

I have also found that when discussing other things about scripture he does not agree with, he shuts it down as just words written by a man.

This is the first time I have heard that argument from a believer. He does not believe the written bible is the word of God to men. Just words of how people feel about God to men. Really then the bible is all just hearsay.

Pray for this guy that God will reveal to Him the truth.

First there was Moses

Hebrews 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after

Speaking of Jesus, Who said,

John 5:46-47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Moses spoke to the people saying,

Duet 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

The LORD adds

Deut 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

The Lord Jesus Christ confirms the same,

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The LORD adds,

Deut 18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

The words Christ confirms

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

And again,

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

John 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

John 17:7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

John 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

Then Jesus adds

John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word

Those who received their word

1Thes 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

In my experience, it is a mistake to lead with Bible Study. First, people have to have a personal encounter with the living God. Only then will they be moved and yearn to rightly delve into God's word. Otherwise, it is merely academic.

Regarding who wrote the Bible; men literally wrote what it contains. Again, without eyes to see and ears to hear, one cannot recognize the truth that the hand of God guided, inspired and revealed what they wrote. I received revelation from God. It was for my doctor and his upcoming missionary trip to Haiti. I wrote of the experience. It is my writing but not my revelation.

I agree that men inspired by the Holy Spirit of God wrote down those words.
Similar to the OT prophets, who spoke aloud the words of the Lord God, and had scribes writing all their words down.
Quite inspiring and amazing the things they spoke and they were written down for the ages so that we could read the words of God.

But these words were never just what a man was thinking about from his own self. The thoughts and words came from the Father and should be acknowledged as true words, as in scripture coming from the Father.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 a very good scripture that shows this.

13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

I agree that men inspired by the Holy Spirit of God wrote down those words.

Iron sharpens iron, so let's go down to the foundry and tweak our swords.

Here we see the problem generated by man's textual "criticism" and its runaround with the word "inspiration." Many believe that God inspired men to write God's words and, therefore, "we better make certain we have 'scholars' and 'credentialed experts' doing the writing."

This is why there is the push for 'bigger and better bibles,' that appear "pleasing to the eyes" and "to make one wise," that come with the highest recommendations of the 'scholars' who offer periodic 'updates' of their findings to their yes-men and other subscribers. It also explains why those modern versions of the Holy Bible must be copyrighted -- they are not an inspired work of God but works of men who claim owner$hip of them.

We will speak casually for a moment. Let’s take a look at the relevant passage:

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 3:15-17 AV

Notice that even a child understands the holy scriptures -- no middlemen wanna-be ‘scholars’ required!

Notice that it is God who gives scripture -- not man. Man does not even feature in this passage.

Notice that the purpose of God giving to man, God’s inspired scripture, is so “that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

Notice how God gives scripture -- by inspiration. However, nowhere does it say that God inspired men! “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” God’s Spirit (i.e. inspiration) is the vehicle with which God ‘gives all scripture’ -- God does not give scripture via any man, or by inspiring any man, or by any other means. Thus, God’s scripture has life -- it is alive, it is the living Spirit-filled words of God. Conversely, man does not have life; outside of God, man is dead. Yes, man has breath, but mere breath is not life; God’s Spirit is life. The words of men are mere breaths; whereas God’s word is Life itself. The reality of the inspiration of scripture has no connection with any efforts of man.

This living quality of scripture puzzles those who are not born again. It even puzzles those who are born again but who have had their thought processes impaired by spiritual deception.

Don’t let the wanna-be scholars deceive you by their attempts to shift the inspiration of God’s living Spirit-filled words to man’s mere breath. For example, the next time you hear, “only the ‘Hebrew and Greek’ is the inspired text,” you’ll know the truth of the matter.

God's pattern has always been the same: He gives the COMMON man the COMMON bible in the COMMON language of the day, to do one thing -- evangelize the world.
