So sorry xxxxxxxIt's a decision that HAD to be made.
We were told that if he gave any indication that he was in pain, the hospice nurse could give him something.

Would you want that option if you had terminal cancer, or dementia or a progressive illness that would make you decline in an awful way ?
Yes, I would agree to assisted dying.Would you ever , or agree, with assisted dying xx
I would most certainly honor their decision. Also If someone you loved was really suffering how would you handle it if they chose this option - it kind of springs up all kinds of dilemmas with how to handle the whole issue
That’s the other side of it, someone has to take that responsibility - so it’s not just one person agreeing and doctors ect take an oath to preserve life.Ok let's say you approve. Will you then agree to be the one who administers the method of death to be carried out?
For people not serving God... it might be a "good" thing for them so long as they remain unbelievers, but not so, for true believers in God and His Son.Looks as if they are going to introduce a bill in parliament for this, it was voted for yesterday and got approved.
I honestly sit in the middle with some of it , watching many suffer makes you aware that end of life is horrible sometimes. Also are we sometimes contributing to that death by putting in drivers with morphine in it anyway, we know it speeds things up.
Life/ Death is complicated with all the medical help available for sustains life , do we play God anyway.
Be interested in your views - do they ever discuss this issue in your countries ?
Would you vote for or against it ?

Just to give context, at the moment it will only be those with 6months or less to live that will be given the option., However I think, in time, it could change and become a slippery slope
Mt 26:39 | ... O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. |
Nice to see you back xxIt has been a while since I posted last. I decided to check in and see what threads were around.
I am in complete support of assisted death. As someone who worked in the medical field as an EMT, I saw the suffering of those afflicted with various illnesses. Many of which could not be cured. Dementia, Alzheimers, cancer, MS, and Lupus, are all horrible ways to die. The pain that some of them cause physically, can be unbearable for many. Or the dementia/Alzheimer patient who is no longer the person that they were, often becoming a stranger to even themselves.
We put my dog of 14 years down back in April. She was dying of kidney failure that just sprung up. She was healthy, then she was sick and within two weeks, I had to decide to put her to sleep. We call it compassion and mercy to end their suffering. Why should humans receive anything less?
I would vote yes.
Not sure dementia would be covered in the new rules as the person has to be able to make the decision themselves and many do not have capacity.
Also doesn’t Lupus sometimes go into remission ?
Sorry to hear about your fiancé , my grand daughter has an autoimmune illness and so does her dad.I can understand that, and it would be a decision for the power of attorney to decide.
It can, but, like MS, there are relapses. At some point, I am not sure that lupus stays in remission. My fiance has lupus and its cousin Sjogren's Syndrome. Both are auto-immune diseases. We are watchful to make sure that it doesn't affect her organs as lupus has a habit of doing. She has flair-ups and remissions, but it ends up being diminishing returns.
That side of things worries me slightly as a family who has to spend so much money on care may be tempted to make the decision for self gain and inheritance reasons ( that slippery slope )
My ex had cancer and he would have gladly had an over dose because they could only give so much morphine, even at the end of life stage ( last few weeks ) The pain meds were not enough - he pleaded for more. My children were with him , they said it was horrible.Assisted dying (vote for?)
No.
Person in pain…meds for that, until disease / life runs its course..
Person depressed…HS baptism for that.
Persons wanting help with suicide, is a person seeking a permanent solution for a temporary problem.
Glory to God,
Taken
That brings to mind a question. If man artificially prolongs 'life' in a vegetative state or whatever, would ending that constitute 'murder'?It is God who gives life. If man takes a life, it is murder.

If a machine is artificially keeping someone alive, this isn't natural, so pulling the plug isn't murder, its artificially keeping a dead person functioning. Pull the plug and they die naturally. That brings to mind a question. If man artificially prolongs 'life' in a vegetative state or whatever, would ending that constitute 'murder'?
Liked your comment but don’t like you had to experience that. That had to be extremely difficult. I’ve experienced it when my brother passed, but he was always pushing people away. I know that sounds horrible but while I did love my brother, we also had a strained relationship. I can’t imagine going through that with a child. When our son went into his final coma, we had to make the decision to remove the feeding tube and the IVs. That's not as direct an action as a morphine shot, but it was still tough. It was still an action that resulted in death.
