I heard Alsop do an interview on Dr. Demento back in college. The story behind the song is, Alsop's best friend got a little drunk and made a pass at him. Alsop had no clue before then that his best friend was gay. He wasn't, um, so inclined, but he still loved his friend. Just not that way. I still remember that story, 40 years later.

I had not heard the song before, and I liked his discussion of the subject.
It echoes my own feelings about it. It's not the black and white issue some CHOOSE to make it.
I was very transparent about how I arrived at my position on the subject in the OP of the topic:

Christians tend to treat LGBTQ as if it is a singular thing. It's not. It's a very complex subject that the church has, for the most part, swept under the rug. Those who have stepped up to be inclusive have taken the heat for it. And there is even a broad spectrum of how inclusion can play out...

As if what they are going through is just a day dream to be awakened from.

The discussion by Alsop after the song shared at NOMAS (?) reminded me of a denomination conference I attended.
One of the speakers addressed the issue of witnessing to homosexuals. He had a breakout session that was well attended.
Having come out of a gay lifestyle himself, he had a lot of good insights. It helped me to gain some sensitivity to the issue.
The session was attended primarily by men. And I remember the uncomfortable looks as everyone seemed to be
scanning the audience trying to figure out who was gay and who was straight. - LOL

I had a strange realization/revelation recently.
I'm a white hetero male raised in a world of white privilege and very little diversity.
People of color were considered to be "minorities".

The complexion (pun intended) of my workmates has changed drastically over the last three years.
In both of my last two jobs I have been the "minority", or at least equally distributed in the range of races and ethnicities at work.
Reminded me of the lyric from the Soundgarden song, Spoonman.

Here's my strange realization/revelation.
Working with so many people of color really helped me to appreciate their beautiful skin color and complexion.
I suddenly found myself, for the first time, disgusted with my own "colorless" skin. Say what?
I wondered if they saw me that way too. !!! ???

There are only two things with God's breath within them on this planet. Mankind and Scriptures (Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 11:14).

If you discount one of the two, why is it people always want to discount scriptures to the elevation of Man?

"My sheep hear my voice" as said by Jesus.
Meaning that they receive instruction. The wolf, dog, thief, and etc hear the voice as well and are frustrated by it...knowing that for them it is dangerous but not understanding what the voice is saying.

I love that you never force your opinion onto others...that’s why I enjoy our discussions..you are so open to discussion.

It both encourages and saddens me to hear that. A few other members have mentioned that.
A "refreshing approach", they say. But I wonder why it is so rare in Christian circles.

If everyone goes to Heaven, then why would John 3:36 be in the New Testament.

And If Everyone Goes to heaven, then that means people who never believed in Jesus, and were never were never born again, get to go to Heaven, still in their SIN.
Yet, being born again is the REASON the BELIEVER, becomes in Spiritual Union with God, and "In Christ", as their sin is Forgiven.

Unbelievers , never born again, are still in there sin, unforgiven......and you are teaching and believe that these SINNERS, who have never trusted in Christ, will end up with God along with the Born again....

That will never happen. @St. SteVen ..

Let me show you main 2 reason why....

1.) There is no sin found in Heaven, and a SINNER never forgiven, still has theirs.......so, they won't be going to Heaven.

2.) Being born again, is to become a Son-Daughter of GOD< .... by Spiritual Birth, and unless that happens, then the person remains here.


1.) = Jesus Said..."YOU>... are of YOUR FATHER.. the DEVIL.. and the lusts of YOUR FATHER, you shall do"".

See that one @St. SteVen ?? That spiritual child of the devil, is not a Son-Daughter of God, so, they wont be going to heaven, as God is not their Spiritual Father.

Then came back to life, thousands of testimonies out there like that, just wondered what your views were on the matter?
