If you are quoting Romans 12 this is Paul speaking of those among you, as in the body of Christ. All of them have a God given measure of faith. It is not referring to all people.

""" according as God hath dealt to EVERY MAN the measure of faith.""""

So, women and teens can't have faith?

Listen............. the verse says..

"dealt to EVERY MAN" the measure of FAITH"

Like this...........= "God gives to EVERYONE, the measure of Faith".......to be able to BELIEVE IN JESUS.

WE are all born with it.

If you wont give God that FAITH in Christ, then you are "sinning Willfully".
If you die like that, having refused to put your faith in Christ, then you died here........John 3:36

Luke 12:49 “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

I don't look at this as actual 'fire' although eventually that does happen to this world, but God will give us a new earth and heaven.

It is also referring to the fire of the Holy Spirit baptism, recall also 'tongues of flames' over their heads when the Holy Spirit was given.

Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Acts 2:3
Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
Dear Scott Downey,
There are no scriptures which teach that this physical world will be destroyed by literal fire.

Christ words are "spirit" and they carry meanings that are different than what this world teaches (1Cor 2:13).

The words "earth" and "heaven" are spirit words (John 6:63). They represent the spirit and the mind. The natural earth represents mankind's carnal spirit and the natural heaven represents mankind's carnal mind. Salvation requires that our carnal spirit and carnal mind be destroyed by judgment. After they are destroyed, a person will have a New Earth (new spirit that is governed by the Holy Spirit) and a New Heaven (mind of Christ).

When a person is converted (as taught by Peter), the natural earth and heavens will be destroyed by fire (judgment) and a new earth and heaven will replace them.

Spiritual blindness is why a believer doesn't understand the spirit words of Christ and is why a "babe" will "fall backward, and be broken, and snared and taken" by Satan.

2 Peter 3

King James Version

3 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Dear Ritajanice,
Thanks for posting this scripture from 2Peter.

Peter teaches in the same way as Christ, Paul and the other writers do. He uses the spiritual language of Christ.

This is why Paul says that he teaches in a "mystery".

1Cor 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery (a concealed way), even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

The truth of Christ's New Covenant teachings (types, parables, analogies & prophecies) are "veiled" but everyone but the converted Elect who have been given eyes that can see spiritually.

I would never join any group that gets their beliefs using scripture to dismiss and contradict other scripture. Most do not know Calvin was a Roman Catholic lawyer that became a theologian, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. The gospel was given and paid for by Jesus not the Apostle Paul. Paul taught the very same gospel as Jesus. The good news is even though we have all sinned against God if you will believe and place your faith in Jesus repent and follow Jesus you will be saved just as Paul told the jailer what he had to do be saved was believe.
All trinity based religions are misleading all listening to them.

Peter tells us this world is going to be destroyed by fire.
Says
heavens pass away
elements melt with fervent heat
earth burned up by fire and everything in it too
earth dissolved
"Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved,"

Fire definitely breaks down everything into something unrecognizable, what was there is gone, nothing left but ashes.
Dissolved is a good word to describe this. Burned up implies hot fire as fire burns up things.
Dissolved mean it is no longer structurally there. Like melting away.

Peter and Revelation and Hebrews both say we get a new earth and heaven.
In various ways, God is telling us the old earth and heavens are going and God will create new earth and heavens.

Hebrews 1 describes like God putting on a new set of clothes.
10 And:

“You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12 Like a cloak You will fold them up,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not fail.”

Peter, burning it up, melting, dissolving

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [d]burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Revelation 20:11 Old earth and heaven disappear, flee away, no place for them anymore in the kingdom of God.
Our Creator God going to create again something new.

The Great White Throne Judgment
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.

In OT Isaiah 66 also tells us of this coming new creation God will make in the future.
Where God preserves His people, but the rebellious transgressing sinners are remaining corpses, they do not come back to an eternal life, they remain destroyed. And they are abhorrent when seen by the righteous. So they have no part with God or His people, they remain separated.

22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.

24 “And they shall go forth and look
Upon the corpses of the men
Who have transgressed against Me.
For their worm does not die,
And their fire is not quenched.
They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Dear ScottDowney,
Your understanding of the spiritual teachings of Christ is carnal. The carnal teachings of the Old Covenant are outward and they happen in the world where human eyes can see them. The spiritual teachings of the New Covenant are inward and they happen within a person where only spiritual eyes can see them.

Here is an easy example of Christ's spiritual teachings:

Mat 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Does Christ really mean that if you use a sword to kill others, then you must likewise be killed with a sword? Literally and carnally, that is what He is saying. However, if we understand this verse in this way, that statement can easily be proven to be false. There are countless examples of people who have used violence to kill others but then do not die from that same type of violence - it almost goes without saying.

Is Christ mistaken or is His message something else?

The spiritual language of the Word of God utilizes the Hebrew and Greek languages. However, Christ assigns meanings to the Hebrew and Greek words which are different from how they are commonly defined by mankind:

1Cor 2:13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things (words) with spiritual (words).

In Matt 26:52, Christ is using the word SWORD to teach us a spiritual message. To understand what this spiritual symbol represents, we must look at how it is used elsewhere in scripture. In other words, we must compare spiritual things with spiritual.

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edge sword...

Rev 1:16
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword...

From the verses presented above, it is easy to understand that the spiritual word SWORD represents the Word of God who is Christ.

Christ’s hidden spiritual point He is making in Matt 26:52 is that all who take up the Sword (those who follow Christ), must perish (death of the carnal spirit within a person) by the Sword. This death is a necessary part of the conversion process which happens when the Word of God (Christ, the Sword) comes to a person and gives them the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Baptism of Fire (judgment of the carnal nature):

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with Fire.

This conversion event is what the Apostles experienced on the Day of Pentecost:

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

In the spiritual language of Christ, the Apostles took up the Sword when they received the Early Rain of the Spirit when they walked with Christ. They later died by the SWORD when they received the Latter Rain of the Spirit, followed by judgment (Day of the Lord) on the Day of Pentecost. This event on the Day of Pentecost is called conversion.

This concept that I explained above about how to understand the spiritual teachings of Christ as they apply to the spirit words "earth" and "heaven". Those spirit words do not mean the same thing as what man's wisdom teaches.

Ephesians 2:8-10
Easy-to-Read Version

8 I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believed. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God. 9 You are not saved by the things you have done, so there is nothing to boast about. 10 God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.
Wow!
What a nice version.
So easy to see that we must believe first and THEN become saved.
Time to order yet another bible!
Thanks for posting it.

Sorry but the violent and abusive language you use about Christians and your words are directed at those of us you respond to you.
You wrote"

I would like chapter and verse for when I have done this.
It's general WC....
Calvinists are not the nicest people in the world.
No chapter and verse necessary for what @Behold stated.

And, this song and dance is soooooo old and boring...
I won't even bother to address it.

Believe what you will...
you'll answer to God one day and you'll explain to Him why you changed His character and why you
preached to others that He is UNLOVING, UNMERCIFUL AND UNJUST.

IF you just knew what the word JUST means,,,,
you'd leave Calvinism tomorrow....

But, apparently, you don't care what it means.

Understand that GOD first chose you by His grace to believe with faith in His SON from the beginning of time (before time began) This was in His eternal counsel He determined in His own SELF.

And so God accomplishes His will in you by His work when you trust Him at verse 13 for the praise of the glory of His grace .

12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[d] is the [e]guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory
Oh.
We trusted AFTER hearing the word of truth?
Oh.
I thought we had to believe FIRST and then we'd be enabled to HEAR the word of truth...
Maybe you forgot to read one of Calvin's books?
Or maybe one of the Confessions....anyone, they're practically all the same.

Acts 13 says clearly,
48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

The appointment by God to their eternal life came before their belief in Christ, that is what predestination means, chosen by the Father to be given to Christ as His children, in the future. This was decided from the beginning of all things. Only those so appointed by God believed the message of the gospel, and gained eternal life in Christ, and the rest were hardened...
Those appointed are the elect.

Romans 11, God does not cast away His people whom HE FOREKNEW, God saves them.
*************************************************************************************************
1 I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, 3 “Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? 4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. [a]But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 Just as it is written:

“God has given them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes that they should not see
And ears that they should not hear,
To this very day.”
9 And David says:

“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
A stumbling block and a recompense to them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see,
And bow down their back always.”
**************************************************************************************
Acts 13
44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us:

‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

49 And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 13:48 is the ONLY verse in the entire NT that comes remotely close to stating what YOU believe....

Unfortunately, it goes to translation...
aside from the fact that THERE IS NO OTHER VERSE TO SUPPORT CALVINISM....
and
ONE VERSE DOES NOT A DOCTRINE MAKE.

Read IF YOU DARE.

As many as were ordained to eternal life believed.—Better, as many as were disposed for.

The words seem to the English reader to support the Calvinistic dogma of divine decrees as determining the belief or unbelief of men, and it is not improbable, looking to the general drift of the theology of the English Church in the early part of the seventeenth century, that the word “ordained” was chosen as expressing that dogma.

It runs, with hardly any variation, through all the chief English versions, the Rhemish giving the stronger form “pre-ordinate.”

The Greek word, however, does not imply more than that they fell in with the divine order which the Jews rejected. They were as soldiers who take the place assigned to them in God’s great army.

The quasi-middle force of the passive form of the verb is seen in the Greek of Acts 20:13, where a compound form of it is rightly rendered “for so he had appointed,” and might have been translated for so he was disposed.

It lies in the nature of the case that belief was followed by a public profession of faith, but the word “believed” does not, as some have said, involve such a profession.

This is why you have Calvinism and Hyper-calvinism, as its the worst Cross-Offending twisting of Scriptures, and its based on a Man and people devoted to his teachings that read the bible, read the verses, but could not and can not discern them, and so they created a "best selling" "doctrine of devils" that ruins Christian Forums and a Believer's Faith.

, but the rebellious transgressing sinners are remaining corpses, they do not come back to an eternal life, they remain destroyed.

Hell is real.
There are no "corpses" in Hell.

"corpses" are buried in a Graveyard, and the Spirit that left that dead body, is as eternal as God.

See, if the Christ Rejector, could cease to exist, once they are dead, then they have nothing to worry about.

However, all the none born again, who died today, in the last 22 seconds, are in Hell, and they are not "corpses".., and they are never going to die.. as they are in ETERNAL Damnation that is the same as Eternal Life, in that its ETERNAL, but there is No Spirit of God, in them, and they are not joined to God = spiritually.

See, to be Born....again.. is the spiritual reconnecting to God, who is "A Spirit". The HOLY Spirit.

If this never happens to you, .. Reader... if you are never born again.....then your spirit is still eternal, it just hasn't become a part of GOD's Eternal life., and Hell is designed for those.

Dear Behold,
Yes, Christ's words are spirit and they carry meanings that are different than what man's wisdom teaches (1Cor2:13).

However, a person can READ the spiritual teachings of Christ but it does take "eyes that can see". In other words, Christ must heal a person's spiritual blindness before the spiritual teachings of Christ will be unveiled. This healing only comes by the receiving the Latter Rain of the Spirit and being converted. Only then will a person be able to understand the spiritual teachings of the New Covenant.

I agree that Calvinism is a false teaching but like most apostate beliefs, it has some elements of truth mixed into it:

Mat 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

The truth that is taught by the New Covenant is that salvation comes to a person solely by the works of Christ. It is a free gift and it is given to a person in this age because they were chosen to be a "first fruit" of Christ's harvest of mankind. All mankind will be saved before the ages come to an end, but to suit God's purposes, He chose a "few" to be saved in this present age. For this reason, the Elect are called blessed. They did not to deserve this honor, they simply were chosen by God for it.

The belief that man can choose the timing of their own salvation is false. This belief is based on Satan's false gospel which mixes man's works with the works of Christ. When a believer accepts this false gospel, they are committing the one and only sin that leads to death (loss of salvation). This is the sin that Satan causes a believer (a babe) to commit to "kill" them. It is also how Satan's build his apostate church. Satan's false church is made up of fallen away "babes" who are spiritually blind and don't even know that Satan has deceived them. They believe that they are dwelling in "peace and safety" but they aren't. Destruction awaits them when Christ appears to them. But without this destruction, no person can be saved. The child of the devil must be destroyed so that the child of God can be born.

In the end, Christ will come to all mankind someday and freely give each person the Early and Latter Rains of the Spirit. Until that time, everyone must wait on the Lord to act. This is the patience of the saints.

It's ok as there are many other verses saying the same things. Scripture is very consistent.

Oh what an intelligent reply Scott Downey.

Hows about posting some of them?
THERE IS NO VERSE IN THE NT THAT CONFIRMS CALVINISTIC IDEOLOGY.

Let me say this again.
THERE IS NO VERSE IN THE NT THAT CONFIRMS CALVINISTIC IDEOLOGY.

And, there is no one on this forum up to the task of INTELLIGENTLY addressing the reformed faith.
Atpollard is pretty capable of doing this....but he left some time ago.

So....if you care to have an INTELLIGENT conversation....bring on some scripture.
All I've seen by Calvinists here, so far, is personal insults because they can do no better to address their belief system.

Guess that shows how strongly you "believe" in your reformed doctrine....NOT.

So much babble.
No scripture.

Total misunderstanding of the NT.

Could you show FROM SCRIPTURE that man is not free to choose.
Can you show us that man DOES NOT have free will....
since every teaching of the NT shows that man does have free will.

Since Adam had the free will to choose to obey God or not,,,
please show WHEN this free will was taken away.

People are slaves (of sin)
A slavery of the mind and spirit.
They simply fulfil the lusts of the flesh, that is all they are not being of the Spirit of God.
Romans 8 says it like this.

5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be [b]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace

. 7 Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Verse 7-8 says it is impossible for those in the flesh to please God, they cannot do the right thing.
Not possible for them to be subject to the Law of God.
The unsaved are of the devil, so then slaves of sin and Satan.
Their wills are bound to him and his fate unless the Son makes them free of that, then they become slaves of righteousness and God.

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the [a]course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
