Here is how to understand... 1 John 5 18

Reader,

When we are "born of God", we are now in = the KOG, for eternity.

The born again are In the KOG, "in Christ", "seated in heavenly places",... and there is no Moses's Law, or 10 Commandments found there...., as does God need them?
And the born again are "ONE with God".... "in Christ"

So, this means the Born again , are "not under the Law"...ever again., and that means the born again exist forever as..

"where there is no Law, there is no Transgression"..

What does that mean?

It means that the KOG does not have the dominion of the law, there... and that means that the Law, can't define a born again, as a sinner, nor can it define their carnality, as sin.

So, this mystery, is not taught to most Christians.......so, that is why they falsely and wrongly see themselves as a saved sinner, needing to confess sin, when in fact they are no longer under the law that can define them........because The born again are..............

A.) "NOT under the Law, but under Grace"/

See, its not about your behavior.....its about your status, that has changed because of your spiritual birth.....as now the Law can't be held against you, ever again., as that was the curse we were under.... before we were born again.....

But now....>>"Jesus has redeemed us from the CURSE of the Law".

1 John 5

King James Version

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Here's how I understand 1 John 5:18:

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. - 1 John 2:1. That's the stated purpose and theme of the letter. "Knock it off with the sinning already."

We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one does not touch him. - 1 John 5:18. Your identity is now as a child of God. One born of God doesn't sin, so control yourself, and the Evil One can't touch you.

Yet : 1 Jn 3:9 (KJV) says you can't sin..

So, thats an issue, isnt it..

Let me try it like this, and maybe you can see it...

If there is no penalty for "works of the flesh"..carnality, that is an eternal judgement, then that is because Jesus has paid for your sin, as "the one time Eternal payment (sacrifice), for sin".

So, if Jesus is the Eternal Payment for all your sin, and you still misbehave.........then what Has Jesus done for you, already = eternally?

Now lets make it even better.. as God has provided it.

If the Law, that defines a sinner as a sinner, and sin as sin.. is unable to do this ever again, then that would be because "the born again, are not under the Law, but under Grace"..

So, if the Law can't define your behavior today or 100 yrs from now as sin, and Jesus is the Eternal Sacrifice for ALL your sin.. then what is that?

That is this..

"The Gift of Salvation"., and every born again believer has it, ....while not one water baptized religious fakir has it.

Context is 1 John 1:
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1Jn 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

You're right that we are no longer condemned because of our sin in a righteous status before the Judge; we are justified. However, we still have to find Jesus' victory over the presence of sin that remains within us. That's the way those two passages can be taken together.

The blood of Jesus has already cleansed us from sin, for eternity, as otherwise we would not be forgiven.

And, the verse says, '""if we walk in the Light as "HE is in the Light"... and Jesus is the sinless, righteous,"" LIGHT of the world"

And all the born again are : "Children of THE Light"..

We can't be that if we have sin. And we know that we dont because every CHRISTian, is "the RIGHTEOUS of GOD, in Christ'... forever.

1Jn 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Many believers do not realize that the Apostles sometimes spoke to unbelievers in a Bible verse..., and when you wrongly use that verse for yourself, you will have a confused theology.

Read in a KJV, 1 John 3:9..........do not use a NIV, as the NIV is a deceiver.

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins,

Again, John is preaching to the Lost...

As a Christian knows that we dont confess sin, when Jesus has become our "ONE TIME Eternal Sacrifice for sin" because... "GOD hath made Jesus to BE SIN...for us".

"The made righteous" do not confess anything to be forgiven.

So, what you can do is a little study and i'll show you where., Reader.

First go to Paul's 13 epistles = all of them...., and read them, and notice that Paul never once confesses a sin, or tells anyone to confess your sin.

Then, go to 1 Corinthians 5...., and read the story of the young man who was having sex with his father's new wife.
Notice carefully that Paul never told him, to confess the sin, and never told the Corinthians, to tell this fornicator to confess his sin.

; we are justifiedfind Jesus' victory over the presence of sin that remains within us.

If you have your sin, then Jesus has not died for it yet.
That means you are in your sins, and need to be forgiven.

Notice...

Is there any SIN, in Jesus?

Is there any SIN, in God?

Is there any SIN< in Heaven?

A Born Again doesn’t sin, they have been Born Of Gods seed.
There is no sin in my spirit...the Spirit cannot indwell the spirit of a sinner.
The Spirit indwells my spirit..hence, flesh gives birth to flesh = human birth.
Spirit gives birth to spirit = supernatural ,that comes by divine heart revelation.
I live in the old body of sin.

With respect, where I have underlined, that part makes no sense to me.

Living in the Spirit
9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is deadbecause of sin, yet your spirit is alivebecause of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.…

1 John 3

King James Version

3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Friend, you are twisting Scripture to fit only part of the Good News, that we are already declared right with God and guilt-free because of Jesus' death on the cross, which is very true; but you don't have a grasp of the "already" and "not-yet" aspects of the gospel. Look at the first two chapters of Colossians for the "already-happened" aspect. Then, look at the third and fourth chapters' commands for the "not-yet-fully-accomplished" part. The same is true of Ephesians 1-3 and 4-6 as well as Romans 1-11 and 12-16. There is not even a hint that Paul shifts from addressing Christians to unbelievers between those parts of his letters. God has forgiven believers as our Judge by way of Jesus' death, but he is helping us overcome the strength of sins in our lives through Jesus' resurrection (Colossians 3:1). If you think that you have no more sins in your life, be careful about the big sin of pride, brother!

With my sincere respect, brother, you say that it makes no sense to you. I submit that you are trusting in your own reasoning rather than in the teachings of Scripture to guide your rationality. The basic sin in human life is to be defined as self-centeredness, which we all have until we die. Jesus' resurrection is the key through prayer for us gain progress in overcoming our selfish reasoning. I know, I've been there and continue to battle against my own self-centeredness in many ways at the age of 82.

Then I pray this over you Brother, that the words penetrate your heart, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Philippians 2:3-43 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others

I’m a Sister..Brother.....May I say that you have just voiced your own opinion.on what you believe to be God’s truth..the same as everyone else.
With the utmost respect, your opinion is not superior over anyone else’s, no more than mine is....on this forum.
What a shame that you still continue in your self centeredness..I don’t..imo, ..I am Christ centred..I died, Christ lives in me..

ESV I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”– 2 Corinthians 5:14-15. Christ-Centered” – it's a phrase we love to use.

We are being conformed into the image of Jesus..therefore it is not I who lives, but Christ lives in me.

Here is something for you to consider, and im going to go a little bit deeper, because real students of the word, will find this Thread, and they will ignore the castigators, and be enlightened by the revelation of who they have become in Christ.

See the reason i hammer this and hammer this on this forum and every forum im on, is because this is the #1 (Paul's) Doctrine that a person nas to learn, or they will never Grow in Grace, and will be captured by a Cult, and they will spend their entire Christianity, as a Hebrews 6:1 useless carnal minded problem.

Listen...

The reason that a sinner, who is.. ."all have sinned, there is none righteous... no not one"... will never go to Heaven, is because SIN, and God, do not connect as "one" Spiritual Union.

So, God has resolved that "separation".../ forever by : The Cross of Christ.

This is.... God wrapped Himself in Human flesh, was born of a Virgin, and Jesus was born into this world as the Righteousness of God, who was sacrificed for the sin of the world.

If you read 2 Corin 5:19, it tells you that God does not hold you accountable for sin..... and Romans 4:8 says the same thing..

God died for "whosoever", John 3:16... and that one become the Believer Born again... and God never again counts sin against them, because He has poured out HIS WRATH, against Sin....2000 yrs ago, on Jesus...... who is our "SIN Bearer".

Jesus is quite a few ........ wonderful situations.

Jesus is Salvation
Jesus is Eternal Life
Jesus is the Righteousness of God
Jesus is the Blood Atonement
Jesus is the New Covenant
Jesus is our sin bearer
Jesus is the one time eternal sacrifice for sin.

Now, before Jesus died on the Cross, He made some statements..

One was.....>>"""""IT.. .is finished......or (Accomplished)...""""

And what is that "IT" ????

That is Jesus, offering "CHRIST's Righteousness" to a believing sinner, so that they may become.. "The Righteousness of GOD... "in Christ", forever.

When we are born again, its because Jesus has become all our sin, and we have become "Christ's Righteousness" that is also known as : the "imputed righteousness of Christ".

Every believer born again, is 'IN Christ" and there is no sin found In Christ.

So.....What is Salvation, really?

Its God's Righteousness, that He demands, being given FREELY to every believer, so that we can become "made free from sin"... having received God's eternal forgiveness and then God's Righteousness which is : Salvation., who is JESUS.

The born Again Christian, has received from God... the same Righteousness as God possesses, or God could not have birthed them into Himself by the Holy Spirit as : "ONE with God".

All the Born again, are "ONE with God".......and that is ETERNAL Spiritual union with God, and there is no sin found there.

All the born again exist forever in the Kingdom of God, and there is NO SIN.. .found there..

Welcome to : SALVATION.

Its a "GIFT"/

Its to BECOME... "THE.... Righteousness of GOD...>in Christ'....as a Son/Daughter of God.

If the Law, that defines a sinner as a sinner, and sin as sin.. is unable to do this ever again, then that would be because "the born again, are not under the Law, but under Grace"..
Okay. If you bring Paul into the equation and argue that sin isn't really sin (technically, not accounted as sin) because we're not under Torah, you completely obliterate John's message and indeed his whole point in writing his letter. Don't do that.

Here is another opinion.

Short commentary.

However, Paul only referred to himself as a sinner in the 1 Timothy passage because of his history of persecuting the church(Galatians 1:13). He was referring to his condition before salvation. We believers are not sinners by nature anymore.

Well, sister, I sit corrected. I'm Christ-centered too, all by God's grace, but I also have a sinful nature within me that Satan tries to tempt and attack, the way Paul describes in Romans 7. You also have a sinful nature as well as all true Christians. I invite you to look at the "already-not-yet" aspects of the gospel by seeing that Colossians 1 and 2 as well as Ephesians 1-3 are the "already" part of the gospel that you have correctly described. But the last parts of those letters say that we need to improve in overcoming our sins that remain in us through Jesus' death and putting on Jesus' righteousness through his resurrection. It's the same when you compare Romans 1-11 with 12-16. We need to fight the fight of Ephesians 6:10-20, especially through persistent prayers (verses 18-20).

Sorry my friend, I disagree.
Thank you once again for voicing your own opinion.

The Spirit indwell my spirit.. I am Born Of God’s seed, by divine heart revelation.

2 Peter 1:3-4

King James Version

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Short commentary..you do not have a sinful nature! You have the new nature where Jesus has made His home in you! And you have the flesh which is not the old nature or the sinful nature. Galatians 2:20 says it died and no longer lives (my paraphrase).

The "already" of the gospel:
Col 2:11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
Col 2:12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.

Paul's "not-yet" commands of the gospel:
Col 3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Col 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Col 3:5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Col 3:6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.
Col 3:7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.
Col 3:8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
Col 3:9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
Col 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
Col 3:11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
Col 3:12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
Col 3:13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Col 3:14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Col 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Col 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Romans 8

King James Version

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified
.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
