Yes it is fair and I have witnessed it far to offten

Teel that to @Ritajanice Thats the very core of our discussion

But we also both have our own interpretation of the scripture we post.. so in effect. we are giving our opinion.

But that is not the discussion here, the discussion is do we need the bible..

I think we all answered this question. On both sides. At least from what I saw.

but sadly. some are taking it even after we are saved, and that is the current discussion

I agree, and see that alot. But as for the member we are discussing. I have heard her and what she believes for along time now. we used to be close. until I questioned her one day. then all hell broke lose and I am now the enemy.

be careful
Must leave. Company.
Let me say this....
A bible is not necessary to be saved....there are other methods.

Not everyone will be interested in theology.
You are, I am, but not everyone is.
But they're still saved !

She gave me a LOVE so I don't know,,,I think I posted her thoughts correctly and she agreed.

Like I said,,,posts are too far between and it could get confusing as to what is being said.
She's saying that the bible is not needed in order TO BE SAVED.
If this is all she was saying I would agree.

But if you go back, She is saying more than this.

In fact. @Matthias made a comment about representing God as his children. and saying Gods children will not be able to represent him without the bible (this is after salvation) this was her response
Jesus is represented from within the heart, the Bible does not represent the heart, the Spirit represents the heart.

Our heart represents Jesus, not the Bible.
Plainly saying the bible does not represent Jesus

Sorry it doesn’t, The Spirit within us, should represent the heart of God

Out of the heart, the Spirit should speak, not the flesh.
.fully surrender your heart over to God.
Later @Matthias said the bible represents the heart of God

@Ritajanice again said it does not
Sorry it doesn’t, The Spirit within us, should represent the heart of God

Out of the heart, the Spirit should speak, not the flesh.
.fully surrender your heart over to God.
The rest I agree with is, she is right, but to deny the bible as being the heart of God. it is GODS WORDS how can that not be the heart of God.

so you see it is deeper than what you think

An incident from my life as a student. I missed student orientation (I was working three hundred miles away and couldn’t be on campus for it and so was excused by the registrar from attending.) Apparently, all students are told during orientation that they should always bring their Bible to class.

One day one of the other students (not the student whom I spoke about in the OP) came to a night class I was enrolled in without a Bible. I was bleary eyed and struggling to stay awake after a long and trying day at work. Suddenly I was aware that the professor had stopped his lecture and was saying to the class, “This is unacceptable. You know better than to come to my class like that.”

Startled, my first thought was that he was speaking to me. He was looking in my direction. As I prepared to explain and apologize for my drowsiness the professor continued, “Go back to your dorm room and get your Bible.” I didn’t live on campus. I lived thirty miles away from campus. He wasn’t speaking to me, but I’ve never forgotten what he was doing for the careless teenager studying to become a pastor* who came to work in the classroom without his “tools,“ the scriptures.

* I had no intention of ever becoming a pastor. That’s not why I was attending the college.

When your in a bible class. If you do not bring your bible. it would be like showing up to your math class without your math book.

William Tyndale believed that all people should have access to the Bible in their own language. Church authorities did not agree. He died for it.

Thanks. You posted it in one of the forums that I don’t have access to reply. I did read it but I’ll have to leave it to others to address some of your thoughts on the matter. It is, as you say, a new topic.

From my X / Twitter timeline today. (I tell you again, search engines are spying on us.)

“Not knowing the Scripture is not knowing Christ.” - Jerome

”Read. Your. Bible.”- Chad Johnson

“Satan wants your mind, and he will fill it with lies. Beat him with the truth. Fill your mind with God’s word.” - Gabriel Hughes

Do we accept this pastor’s premise and admonition? If we do,

“The Bible is unreliable.”

Someone believes this is, or may be, the case. Now what? Do we -

Help the person see that the Bible is reliable?

Refrain from helping the person see that the Bible is reliable?

Tell the person that it doesn’t matter one way or the other because he or he doesn’t need the Bible?

Change the subject?

Also from my X / Twitter feed. It was posted on X yesterday but it didn’t appear in my “For You” recommendations from X /Twitter until this afternoon. They know, to a certain extent, what‘s on our minds and they know what we’re talking with people about online. The algorithms have us pretty well pegged.

Jesus infers that they are not.

John 5:39 NIV
You study[a] the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life.
These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,
