Only a tyrant would run with a plan like that for those created in his image.
Unless God is a worthless worm? Is that what you are saying? - LOL

No it is what you are saying.

You do not accept the holiness of God or that he has the right to make and execute judgment on all of creation.

Sadly, people do not want to admit they are the evil creatures God say s they are. And thinks God will just turn his head and not see all the evil we do. And just ignore it

He taught us to do what he did

he loved his enemies

Because he also punished his enemies. Unless they repented.

Why would you hold a lower standard than that.

Why do you think God will not punish those who reject him? Who are his enemy.
Thank you for your post.

No one disagrees that nasty people shouldn’t be punished. And God says “eternity” and “lake of fire” so that is that.

But, like Job, I ask, ”Why eternal torture? Couldn’t there be a very long punishment (not torture) with a chance for redemption?” Something like purgatory, with hard physical and mental tasks, humiliation?

The way hell is usually described, I would think anyone would get the message within 60 seconds. No need for an eternity in hell.

Humiliation? Yes.
That is what will happen when everyone's secrets are revealed in front of everyone. The age of restoration.

The only interest being shown is in the feelings of those who have rejected God.

There is no interest in the holiness, the justice of God.

Where is the importance, in feelings of the created or in the honour, dignity and worth of creator God.

The easiest way I can explain it is this way

With adam came the fall of mankind,

With Christ came the possible salvation of all mankind.

If salvation is applied. the barrier between God and the person is restored.

if salvation is rejected. the barrier between God and that person remains.

We are eternal beings, God wants us to spend eternity with him, If we react to his call and receive him, we will spend eternity with him,

if on the other hand, we do not react. and reject him, we will spend eternity apart from him.

we are going to see, and soon I believe, what this earth looks like when God removes his protective hand, we are going to see evil like this world has never seen before. even families turning against families. It is called the great tribulation. God is holding back evil now. willing that non should perish.. but we will get a preview of sorts of what it will be like in eternity for the lost.

and remember, even in the tribulation period. There are saved people so it is not what it will be like fully in the end.

But that is a preview of what eternity will be like apart from God. It will not be a great party that alot of people make it out to be. But they have no one to blame but themselves.

We can't Blame God. God made a way of escape for them. they willingly chose to reject it

I would think people would just look at what God said and not question him.

we are in the last days. I think the attitude is showing us.. the love of God is growing cold.

When we worry more about peoples feelings then Gods feelings. we are on a slippery slope

From the OP. (with new emphasis)

What sort of monster would create such a thing? The most sadist tyrant imaginable.

How does it work and what is the purpose?
There is no purpose other than eternal torment on the grandest scale.
We have all experienced a burn at some point in our lives.

Maybe we touched the stove. We immediately removed our hand,
And learned an important lesson. NEVER touch the stove.

We are also familiar with the burn ward at the hospital.
Severe burn victims are treated there. Recovery is horrible.
Requiring skin grafts and a slow and painful healing process.

Yet no human has fallen into a volcano (lake of fire) and survived.
Is this what God has planned for those who refuse the free gift of eternal life?
Seems pretty harsh. Receive the free gift of eternal life, or if you prefer
you will be incinerated. That is one VERY expensive FREE GIFT.

Imagine being thrown into a volcano. What a horrible thing. But wait...
That's not the end. God has created this lake of fire so that you cannot die.
You will endure this torture with no hope of escape.

Your flesh will be burned away only to be replaced with fresh flesh to be burned again and again.
Hard to imagine a more sadistic or cruel punishment for a temporal crime. Justice? Nope.

Couldn't this have been avoided with a simple discussion?
Ten seconds in hell would be enough for anyone to get the message.
