Let's say you were thriving. If you don't mind, what is that like? What kind of life is important to you personally?I was homeless for about a year. I was NOT "thriving."

Proof of this? Wouldn't it then profit companies to hire women over men if they could get away with paying them less for the same job? I guess it's time to provide evidence of the wage gap being a myth. It's been debunked a lot in my lifetime but I still hear and see it repeated everywhere. It IS illegal, and the courts hear cases like this daily BECAUSE some people still do this even though it's illegal. Murder and rape are illegal but, do you think that SOME people care? Of course not! They'll commit the crimes anyway because they believe they can get away with it.
And a lot of times, they DO.
Of course both men and women experience this in the U.S. But we are not in patriarchy and there is no systemic oppression of women in the United States now.Sex discrimination DOES still happen here in the US.
And I'll provide proof to the contrary.Proof of this? Wouldn't it then profit companies to hire women over men if they could get away with paying them less for the same job? I guess it's time to provide evidence of the wage gap being a myth. It's been debunked a lot in my lifetime but I still hear and see it repeated everywhere.
If that's true then the EEOC may as well close its doors. The EEOC is there for a reason.Of course both men and women experience this in the U.S. But we are not in patriarchy and there is no systemic oppression of women in the United States now.
The SAME crime? The EXACT same crime? Do you know WHY this occurs?Where is it? The criminal justice system where women get lesser prison sentences for the same crime?
Interesting. Women used to be prevented from attending college and getting a degree. And while women are getting more degrees than men, the men aren't being prevented from getting their degree. Women can't be blamed for that.Colleges and universities where women now get more degrees than men?
I don't agree with ALL laws regarding child support so...The laws that say a woman can abort her child without the father's consent, but should she have the child, he is obligated to then pay child support or face legal charges without being able to opt out?
I didn't say that to blame women. I said it to support that we are not in systemic patriarchal oppression.Interesting. Women used to be prevented from attending college and getting a degree. And while women are getting more degrees than men, the men aren't being prevented from getting their degree. Women can't be blamed for that.
I see this as a big sign that we are no longer under systemic patriarchal oppression. The EEOC has recovered millions of dollars for workers subjected to compensation discrimination and obtained significant injunctive relief to remedy discriminatory practices and prevent future violations:
I don't agree with ALL laws regarding child support so...
From the article:I see this as a big sign that we are no longer under systemic patriarchal oppression.
Only if the transgression is brought into the American (legal) system. Like I mentioned, many women will simply quit their jobs instead of going up against Corporate America.A company can try to pay women less but the American system does not support it.
Who do you think RUNS these institutions of America? Individuals. And in some cases, chauvinistic and misogynistic individuals. The chauvinists and misogynists don't all necessarily show their bias during work hours. But they might in an all male meeting...or an all male lunch...or an all male retreat...There are individual chauvinists and misogynists around. Are they supported by the institutions of America today? No.
No, it didn't. AND, patriarchy isn't limited to who is the breadwinner. Patriarchy can still rule EVEN IF THE WOMAN IS THE BREADWINNER.A Patriarchal system would insist on male breadwinners having a family wage. Feminism did away with that.
"...of THIS country." But feminism isn't limited to creating gender equity within the institutions of THIS country.Feminism has won the institutions of this country and mainstream media.
Oh really? There is no systemic patriarchy left to "smash".
Sex discrimination DOES still happen here in the US.
Mink can't seem to acknowledge the plight of men. The fact that men are also victims of sexism in our society goes against her narrative.Where is it? The criminal justice system where women get lesser prison sentences for the same crime? Colleges and universities where women now get more degrees than men? The laws that say a woman can abort her child without the father's consent, but should she have the child, he is obligated to then pay child support or face legal charges without being able to opt out?
While I like ketchup, I know it has corn syrup in it. So, it is awesome that she is making delicious and healthy ketchup for her family.
I like Kelli a lot. I find this video and this type of content encouraging
Did I not write, "Sex discrimination DOES still happen here in the US."? I didn't say that sex discrimination still ONLY happens to women here in the US.Mink can't seem to acknowledge the plight of men. The fact that men are also victims of sexism in our society goes against her narrative.
^^ This. Sense of guilting women for doing the right thing.Women like this really helped me see that I wasn't necessarily just taking the easy way out
@Wynona,A lovely video on the value of service, largely in a homemaking context, that brought tears to my eyes.
This is where feminism has moved the goal posts. Used to be "equal pay for equal work." Now, the want equal pay for unequal work AND attempt to shame people for not embracing the injustice.
This is a good start. The wage gap is from the choices men and women make for themselves, not discrimination. @Mink57
I agree but what is TPTB?^^ This. Sense of guilting women for doing the right thing.
TPTB want women to be reduced to economic units that can be taxed, and they used envy and guilt to get women to choose the hard way in to the rat race.
