God doesn't send anyone to hell you do it yourself. Remember the fall of humanity you were condemned it was already done to you. When it spoken about in the bible its telling you of the punishment that will be received not that God is sending people there he doesn't have to he just doesn't raise them up to eternal life and Heaven.Remember he is not sending you there he is offering a way out.

Right. Blame the victim. - LOL
Is God not sovereign?

Who invented hell?

The thought of eternal conscious torment is so unmistakably horrible, that Christians have
created apologetics to absolve God of all responsibility. - LOL

No its not its the foundation of the faith Satan brought the fall of humanity to prevent union with God and the possibility of entering heaven not God.This is a war about humanity receiving eternal life you can't just toss that aside or Christianity is a false religion Your salvation is in your hand you just have to be open to it.I know many would love to remove that from the theology but its the whole reason why Jesus came.Christianity is not Christianity without the fall of humanity.
Its an eye sore a stumbling block for many.If it didn't happen there is no need for salvation or for Jesus to come.

Been giving this some thought lately.

Mostly in the situation where someone accuses someone else of having "unbiblical" doctrine. Say what?

Be it true or false, isn't all doctrine biblical?

Doctrine is man-made.
It comes with biblical "proof-texts".
So, how could doctrine ever be unbiblical?

Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

--- PARODY ---

Christian #1: Your beliefs aren't biblical.
Christian #2: Say what?
Christian #1: Your beliefs aren't biblical.
Christian #2: I don't understand.
Christian #1: Your beliefs are unbiblical.
Christian #2: That's ridiculous.
Christian #1: Why?
Christian #2: I gave you biblical support.
Christian #1: It was unbiblical.
Christian #2: Are you nuts?
Christian #1: It was clearly unbiblical.
Christian #2: How could that be?
Christian #1: It doesn't match the whole Bible view.
Christian #2: So it was biblical then?
Christian #1: No, it was unbiblical.
Christian #2: It was from MY "whole Bible" view.
Christian #1: That's unbiblical.
Christian #2: How can a Biblical view be unbiblical?
Christian #1: That doesn't make sense.
Christian #2: BINGO!

There is only one doctrine- that Jesus Christ is Lord and God come in the flesh for sinful men and that He is the only way, the only truth and the only path to eternal life nd that no one comes to the Father but by Him.

The bible is also the plumbline through which all teaching must be measured- any doctrines that cannot be found explicitly or even implicitly in Scripture, such as the false doctrines around the Roman Catholic Mary being Mediatrix, Queen of heaven, etc etc must be REJECTED

This is a discussion forum. Didn't you get the memo?
Build bridges, not walls.

What makes a doctrine false?
Please quote what you would like to respond to. Thanks.
1. You've never heard it before. (knee-jerk defensive response)
2. You have heard of it before, but assume it's false. (haven't looked into it)
3. Doesn't align with your church's doctrine (your church would say it is false)
4. Doesn't align with your personal doctrine (your views differ)
5. YOUR "Bible" says it is false. (other biblical opinions don't matter)
6. It makes you uncomfortable. (therefore it must be wrong)
7. Everyone knows it's false. (except those who believe it)

Ok you want to go by the numbers?

#1 I have likely heard it all
#2 I dont assume its false without researching thoroughly
#3 I pay attention to what the bible says not my church
#4 My personal doctrine is irrelevant
#5 If my bible openly says its false then its false- if it doesnt mention it at all then you must also assume its false
#6 Who cares how it makes you feel
#7 if it doesnt concur with scripture who cares what "everyone knows"

Seems as though Evangelical Apologetics is your god. (cruel taskmaster)

Okay, that takes care of knowledge.
What about the equally-important (according to you) transformation?
Do you have 7 items for that?

Being born again is all at once but then you grow and mature in the faith as you mature in knowledge and wisdom
So, transformation does NOT come entirely from being born again.

You should be able to come up with your 7 now, right? (equal importance)

I just said it did! But though being saved and renewed does happen all at once there is still a maturing process

A transforming process that follows us into the afterlife. (assuming)

I do believe in the afterlife, but I take it on faith. There is no unquestionable evidence.

No. There's a bunch of doctrine... orthodox doctrine even... that comes from extra-Biblical sources.

For instance... there's more of our doctrine that comes from the book of Enoch than there is that comes from.. say... the gospel of Luke.
Whose doctrine are you referring to that comes from the Book of Enoch, and what is it? Then, we can talk.

That sounds like maybe a whole topic if you want to go into specifics.

But it gives doctrine in areas where the Bible is either quiet or confusing... thanatology, eschatology, virtually everything people believe about giants... there are expansions on the stories in Genesis.

It isn't necessarily a bad thing. The New Testament itself seems to either draw on, or at least agree with, points from Enoch. I like Enoch. I don't think that it should be considered infallible, but it's a fine book.
