Let's talk about the 10 Bridesmaids and how that parable is relevant to us modern day Christians.

We fing that parable in

Matthew 25:1-13
25 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids[a] who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, 4 but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’

7 “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. 8 Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’

9 “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’

10 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’

12 “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’

13 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return..../KJV

The 5 foolish virgins did not keep oil in their lamps so when the time came that the BrideGroom showed up, they had none, and asked the wise ones for some of their oil and were denied! Go buy some oil for yourself! They said.

Now we all know that the Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, am I right? Good, I'm glad we agree ;)
So how does one go buy oil? How does one buy the Holy Spirit?! In Acts 8 Simon tries to buy the Holy Spirit for money and gets turned down cold.

Acts 8:18-21
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.../KJV

So if we can't use money to buy the Holy Spirit oil, then how do we do it? It clearly says go buy some some for yourself! Well, I'll tell you how.

The modern day Christian buys Holy Spirit Oil with Prayer. Pray pray pray. Pray Unceasingly. Pray some more after that. Do it again tomorrow. Pray.

Am I right? did I read that parable right? Did I miss anything?

Engage with the Holy Spirit. Pick up that Bible to read...and He is there. Pray...and He is there.
Agree. Person is fortunate to have Holy Spirit. Not many do.

It makes the difference Brother!

In scripture, they use the term, "Th word" or "Word" and there are two different definitions of Word so you have to look them up and be sure what it's taking about.
Defintion #1 is, the wwwritten word of God, the "Logos"
Definition #2 is, "Rhema" which is the spoken word of God.

So, ummm, if it isnt in the Bible then I wont believe it? That's correct to a point because it is the book of truth. But with Rhema in the all over scriptures also, it beocmes very apparent that...we must use the Holy Spirit also! It's all over cripture! Be ye led of the Spirit.

So if someone is hung up on the Bible and it's written text (Logos) and wont believe anything else...How can he receive a Rhema from God the Holy Spirit? So they are missing a vital portion of growth spiritually by not hearing or listening to the Holy Spirit within them. Can you hear the still small voice of God?

I can. Praise the Lord for that too! Ok so I must admit it....(LOL) I am the guy who hears voices in his head...Lol. If you cant hear voices within you, then you best learn quick or risk being short of Oil when the time comes. Be led by the Spirit. But He wont come and force it on you, you have to reach out for it. You have to reach out for Him.

It was a hard thing to learn for me but I just kept working at it. I put the bug in His ear in a big way! I said hey, Lord, it's me again! again and again and again and again, until all of a sudden I began hearing Him.

Dont get me wrong, I have zero against the Bible, the written word. It is the Book of Truth, It is priceless to us to feed us enough information to inspire these thoughts to be able to reach out to Him. Because all writte word and no rhemas mean = Short of oil.

So if a Christian has been rejecting the (voices in his head & heart) and only relying on the Bile's written word...They are incomplete! Dont be caught short of oil! This is the time for Spiritual growth Brothers & Sisters. You know very well from the Logos that it says to be led by the Spirit, so ask yourself why arent I doing it? (Holy Spirit help me!)

It's no superpower anointing that only a few of the Patriarchs got long long ago. It is a normal, and expected thing that all Brothers & Sisters can do. We're basically commanded to be led of the Spirit in scripture Logos. So time to grow and Believe Brothers and Sisters!

Why do you all think that King David was a man after God's own heart anyway? I figured it out! (more likey, it was given to me). Because David was constantly praying to the Lord. Even whe he messed up and sinned, David was like, Oh Lord help me, forgive me, where art thou?!!! Even at the times that he had messed up and felt like running away from the Lord because of his sin which was embarassing to him

Lord if I go to the Mountain, you are there.
If I make my bed in sheol, you are there.
David knew we cant get away from the Lord, so when you dont feel like praying is the time that you need the Lord the most! SO confess, repent, forgiveness. Thank you Lord for making me clean again.

David was a Nobody. The little brother who would be king. Who thinks David had any confidence to be king when he was told he would be king? He was a little sheperd boy and the black sheep of the big brothers. David had to grow smart and think on his feet. I know I cant do this! I know that feeling real well. But, that's how God did it. And David embraced it. He embraced the Lord to help him. And help him is what God did.

Pray without ceasing? To pray without ceasing is to be led by the Spirit.

Hello,

Has anyone considered that if we are not overflowing with the Holy Spirit, which is not often observable to the naked eye that we are filled with the Holy Spirit, such that the light of our righteousness is not seen in our lives and the lamp's light goes out. The light given by our lamp requires that the wick is attended to often and trimmed so that the light that is given is bright/wholesome and not sooty. Another requirement is that the lamp is refilled with more oil, as the oil is used up, so that the lamp's light does not fad and goes out because of a lack of oil in the lamp, as we wait patiently for the fulfilment of all of God's promises.

In the above posts people are focusing on the oil that goes into the Lamp, but they are not seeing that it is the light that is produced by our lamps as that is important for all of the people who are looking upon us to be able to see the way by our example.

Shalom
