This is answered in my thread Did God threaten to do evil? regarding Exodus 32:14. Excerpt:

So, a couple of things:

A) By using that word, it implies that God is doing something evil, which, as stated above, is contrary to God's character.

B) Not all translations of Job 42:11 use the word "evil." Some use "adversity" and "trials.".

C) Just because Job's family and friends attributed it to God doesn't mean they were correct. Even Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar were not right about everything. They falsely accused Job of sinning and bringing the sufferings on himself.

God allowed it for a time to test Job and prove Satan wrong. He even opened the invitation. But it was ultimately Satan who was the one doing it. If Satan had no relevence beyond Job 1:12, then there would have been no point to even mention him in the first place.

I believe Yahavah used, Rome as Satan to the Israelites. Aside from that the character of Satan is overall, is a Character who is desirous of abstracting light, and embracing darkness. From what I gather, Satan is no longer around anymore anyway. We have our own selves to deal with, be our flesh conflicting with our soul. That is my opinion. I get how "Satan" can be used for a person who is thinking of things that are not of Yahavah, an adversity against oneself. Etc, but it's over all an entity concerning the darkness, and all of its entailings.

If darkness resides outside the Kingdom gates of Heaven, then darkness continues to roam and effect the hearts of many. Which is in need of renewal in light.

"people loved the darkness more than the light."

I don't believe in some devil like tv shows, but you can't say that the devil was not a representation of what is not of God right? That would be a reality, a fact? People loved darkness more than light? (John 3:19)

You need to study the Word of God in context to understand the use of the word devil.

So you can’t use a dictionary in this debate area? If not, yeah I guess I’m out, and your right F2F.

The common Christian approaches words like devil with preconceived notions which the Word of God has not formed. The context of any passage with discern its true meaning. I've proved this time and time in this forum to the point many just fade away into the background.

Yeah, I seen what you shared some here and there but just gleamed a little… I know you don’t believe in an “archetype” fallen Angel, that represented the bad which happens without Yahavah. The Devil was a puppet, in the sense of the word. But me and you will always differ on that aspect. I believe the Devil was a angel which did what Yahavah would allow him to do, ending with being thrown out and eventually done away totally… now I just see the Devil as an entity, which represented the darkness. Not that you have to agree with this statement. I don’t believe the devil is around nor do I believe in demons being around or ghosts, but certainly darkness exist and their is power that influences from that said darkness.

Darkness is merely the absence of light...all part of God's creative work. You can create as many man made notions as you want Matthew in the end the Word of God won't support them.

I don’t worship a Bible. It’s not believing what you or me; say which makes you saved. That much I’m grateful for. It is faith in the Lord Yeshua and his rising again. What you believe concerning the devil/satan. Doesn’t make a faith greater or lesser. What’s important is to continues to seek to worship Yahavah in spirit and truth as Yeshua had said. Walking in faith and by the spirit. Your comment is rather lacking if you desire me to “feel” some type of way about it, you, or the relationship had. Not walking in darkness, but being moved from darkness to light…

As believers in Christ, we have been transferred out of darkness into light and out of the authority of darkness into the kingdom of the Son of the Father's love—v. 18; Col. 1:13: 1. Darkness is the expression and sphere of Satan in death; light is the expression and sphere of God in life—1 Pet.

If you don't know how to read and interpret it then it matters now whether you do, or don't. It's a book you can read whatever you want into it, truth is all about what it teaches you from it.

God creates darkness and He separates Light from darkness. If you read Genesis 1 you will immediately see He likes to separate / divide!
