That’s a good question. I don’t have the answer. I do read Jesus speak out against the Pharisees, and false doctrine. But ultimately (only my opinion) Jesus went to the crucifixion to demonstrate the Love of God in putting off or down what is false.
I think you’re asking the last part due to your scars of what you’ve experienced with JWs. You mentioned their teaching having a huge impact within your family. I could be wrong but I think you asked that
… to ask if you are wrong for doing as Jesus did in speaking out about false teachings?
I’ve not experienced the same as you. I’ve felt victimized by what I now consider false doctrines. The rapture doctrine being one. Another is the prosperity gospel. My husband and I watched Kenneth Copeland last night and I felt that same disgust that I think you feel from having an up close dealings with certain teachings that made an impact on my life, even a negative impact. It disgust me when Kenneth Copeland starts drooling talking about how the reason he is so filthy rich is because …if you read the bible it promises “great” wealth. his definition of wealth is different from mine. I’ve fallen for those things in the past. I could have easily been a victim of certain teachings. Like you are saying about JWS affecting your family…I’ve experienced this too but it was other teachings that affected my family negatively.
Point is…I can’t get on board with you concerning JWs because I have not walked in your shoes and don’t know your scars or damage. (I know little to none about JWs). But I do have my own damage concerning other teachings. Your question is a good one…to speak out or not to speak out? I can relate with why you keep bringing it up from a place of “damaging doctrines”. I just haven’t experienced any damage. My damaging doctrines have been other doctrines …many I pushed as “this the truth” to later ask “what was I thinking pushing that?”
Hi VinJ,
I have heard of Copeland, but I avoid the false teachers with their prosperity gospel, as Paul said- let them be accursed.
I'm sorry that they misled you. I'm glad that you now see. Since I was raised in false teachings who twist the scriptures. I learned to become very careful. Jesus taught us to be cautious and beware of false teachers. It's not always easy to detect, but He gives us discernment when we ask! I have not picked up on any Copeland type teachers on this forum. Have you?
If you did and they were daily attempting to mislead others on here, would you speak up?
Would that be the loving thing to do in the hopes of sparing others?
As to rapture -I believe there is ONE return.- The Second Coming. (Jws also twisted that.)
Jesus knows how to save us from the wrath to come. Believers arent destined for that wrath, according to scriptures. So, however He does that is ok with me!
Back to Jws- I am not asking anything of you with regard to them. I didnt mean to make you feel that way. I'm sorry if you felt that way.
You brought up loving your enemies and I love that teaching of course.
When it comes to me and Jws and XJWs- we dont sound very loving toward each other. It isnt as if Xjws have a hatred toward JWs-
They are taught to hate us. call us apostates- shun us, even family shuns if you leave.
I was not baptized and still am shunned. I'm not hurt about it anymore- it's been many years- would I prefer it to be different? Sure, but it isnt. I have tried. They are forbidden to speak to us. There is a reason for that----
and it is not biblical at all.
Yes I was speaking about Jesus, but also about
his disciples.
Paul taught that
anyone who brings a different gospel- let them be accursed, and he buckled down and said it again.
remember? He said to expose false teachers.
He also spoke against legalistic teachers- circumcism, remember? Galations. he said he hoped "they go mutilate themselves."
I could go, on but you probably already know. There is endless legalism with the Jws.
JWs absolutely teach a very different gospel. They say the original was fulfilled. They teach a 1914 Invisible return of Jesus who chose only them to be the chosen church.. ( it is
totally different from the faith once delivered to the saints which we are to stand firm in. It not a matter of
my opinion at all. Nowhere near.
Jesus warned all of us about His return and said ;
Matt 24
For false christs and false prophets will arise and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25Behold, I have told you in advance. 26So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. 27For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
And "every eye will see Him"
You would think that would be enough, but the Watchtower twists and plays with words and pyramid measurements and make up false dates for the Destruction of Jerusalem and lies about it.
The giant pyramid was recently removed from Russells grave in Pittsburg by the WT Society. No one knows how it go there...
If
someone doesn't know the scriptures or the Lord- they can be deceived. It happens every day. It happened to my parents. It happens to many. It's not about intelligence level. This is deceit. It's about spiritual discernment, as Jesus noted there. I do not think it is possible if you belong to the Lord, but notice what He said. It's that deceiving.
Charles Taze Russell- the JWs first president, falsely predicted the return of Christ for 1874 and 1914. After it did not happen he changed it to an invisible return. Jws like to say that WW2 was predicted. NO IT WASNT. - that's deceit.
The kept changing what it means and today its about run it's course of lies but they will have to figure out a way to keep it going to retain membership, OR just chang it and say Jehovah changed it. That's usually who they blame for changes.
This link is very accurate about 1914--- He was once a member of the Watchtower's "Governing body."-- (their leaders)
The Blind Watchtower and the False Prophecy of 1914 – Many Prophets, One Message
This false prophecy leads them into a
parable to twist--- about the faithful slave-- which causes Jws to submit to the Watchtower as God's sole channel or mouthpiece on earth. It's a disaster for these members. They will do whatever they say. It's mind control.
That's only the tip of this iceberg..
Long story short--
Watchtower's Jesus is not the Jesus of the scriptures. They teach he was a just a man (although sinless?) his birth came about by Michael the archangel's "impersonal life-force" being put into Mary's ovum.
Nowhere do the scriptures teach any of that.
And that is why JWs dont like to talk about it when asked. See my thread- "BIBLE SAYS WHAT?" no replies.
Although, it certainly begins an avalache of false teaching sas you can imagine.
They teach that Jesus did not give his life for our sins. Despite what the scriptures say.
That He only died for Adam's sin (original sin- although Adam wont be forgiven)
That when they die physically, that is how they pay for their sins and are forgiven because they paid the "wage"
They come up with that one by plucking Romans 6:7 utterly out of context and combining it with half of the last verse of the chapter verse 23.
See here for how that goes--
Hi Kiew, you've stated this a couple of times now on another thread-- "Romans 6:7-Acquitted of all sin at death. The judgement God gave to all men=The wages of sin = death. Once dead have paid in full the wages of sin. Gods pure justice could not rejudge one on past sins once they died and paid...

There is SO much more , but I dont want to bore you. Why fill anyone's head with this garbage?
Yet, JWs are here on these forums seeking to convert others by deceitful tactics. I have a heart for them and want them to be free In Christ, but they reject that, and that is the mind control at work. It is a very real thing. I was once that way. I have a responsibility from the Lord to help others not to be deceived, as He has freed me. I do not like this task at all. I would prefer to forget it all, and lead my life. When He allows me that, I will rejoice.
I dont expect you to get involved in this research! I just posted in case you wanted to. I dont recommend it if you love the Lord, and I believe that you do!
Take care VinJ -- was nice to meet you. Feel free to PM me if you have any Q's.
