The early Christians dressed modestly and ate house to house often. As the dispora brought them to cities the dress changed as it always does. All through the decades it was modesty. Up until these last days, in the last 20 years, and only now, some women, and I've seen it, want to wear their most revealing top and tightest jeans imagined. Is that ok to you. I've also seen short dresses for women to show their legs. I have been in ministry for 40 yrs and this is the worst I've seen it, in the last few years.
I am not going to kick someone out of church or judge them because of the clothes their wear.

Imagine if they could have been saved, and they were not because you kicked them out because the clothes they wore was against YOUR standards.

Once again, Gods house is not a building, the only building that was Gods house was the temple.. The tabernacles were a place of worship. People wore what we would call rags to tabernacle. And they wre not called the houses of God.

Your heart and conscience, which God discerns.
So if my heart tells me to dress in a nice pair of jeans and t-shirt. And go and worship my savior and be taught his word. How will God discern me?
Generally, it says to all glory to God. Do you suppose tithing the least brings glory to God, such as your worst sheep, full of defects and blemishes?
Why would tithing bring glory to God. Everyone I have ever known to tithe has gone into deep debt, a few of lost their house and their families. Because instead of trusting God and giving what they could. They tried to obey some stupid law and thought they were serving God.

to bad God did not bless them, because thats not what he wanted.

What would wear to a wedding to honor the wedding couple. What would you wear to a Funeral? What would you wear to a birthday party? What will you wear at your work place if your boss requires a coat and tie, will you honor your boss? Now what would wear to honor God?

1 Timothy 2:8-10
[8]I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
[9]In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
[10]But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Luke 16:19-25

[19]There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
[20]And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
[21]And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
[22]And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
[23]And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
[24]And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

[25]But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Matthew 19:16-24
[16]And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
[17]And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
[18]He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
[19]Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[20]The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
[21]Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
[22]But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
[23]Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[24]And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Is there no understanding of showing honor and respect in God's house??? =Sad!!! Any ambassador "pastor" does not show honor and respect leading worship in God's house by wearing blue genes, tee shirt and base ball cap!!!!THINK!!!
As long as he removes his ball cap when he prays (according to scripture) I see no other scriptural issue with this.

1 Corinthians 11:4
[4]Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

If I walk into a church and all they're focused on is what I wear, I don't belong there. Their focus is not God, but man and man's approval ....it is a social club. That's not the Church!

I think there is some confusion in this thread about how Pastors dress as they stand on the alter of God with the people in the audience.

And I think you know the answer to your question.

We have all been conditioned to wear certain things to certain occasions , etiquette has dictated things. Thankfully more and more people are wanted mourners not to wear black but rather celebrate a persons life and wear coloured things.
In the work place we are ordered to wear certain things, it’s nothing to do with respect. At school they introduced a uniform because poor children couldn’t compete with what more wealthier children were wearing. Sadly now the uniforms often cost more than ordinary clothes.
The etiquette for wedding has never really changed in my life time, but centuries ago it would have been different. Look how much is wasted on weddings, the dresses cost a fortune.
Its Cultural norms that have dictated what we wear to certain things-

[4]Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

Wow, I dont remember ever having read that before (it didnt stick, lol!) but...learn something new every day!

I always remove my ball cap before I pray or give thanks for food. It's just, ingrained into me. Like removing your hat before entering a building or when a lady walks up to you, respect, stuff like that. That's just ingrained in me from my dad I suppose.

And this morning I learn that my instincts were good!

God looks at the heart anyway. We know that. He's not looking at your suit or your jeans & ballcap. I used to wear a suit to church and did think of it as a respect thing. But now I wonder if it wasnt just a vanity thing because others look good in their suits?

I seen a video with some back Pastor teaching the sermon one. I forget exactly which one but he had his fance duds and a real nice hat which he had cocked at angle which says. I'm cool, I'm the Man! And He never took it off even when he did the prayer. I see now that he was indirectly disobeying God and made a poor choice. ow, Eric my Pastor from C. Springs in Rocky Mountain wore his ball cap in the Lords house. But he was also always taking it off and on a lot. Honestly I cant remember if he specifiically removed it during prayer. I'm guessing he did because that fellow was all about truth , and his church was not the biggest church in town but they did more for the poor than all other churches combined I think. They had a food pantry, clothing give aways and all sorts of programs like that to help the community, but he had decorated the church very modestly. It looked nice inside but not fancyied up all gaudy like many churches are now, and they didnt have a coffe shop or a book store inside the church either! (Didn't Jesus chase those guys out of the church before? (Temple). He put that money into helping the community. He didnt respectfully drive a Cadillac, lol. As far as I know he didnt own a jet either! Respect. Yeah I used to believe that. Like that little old lady who gave two mites in the plate. She gave from her grocery money and not from her excess like the rich guys did.

It was about my 3rd or 4th trip to this church when I finally asked someone, how come they never pass a collection plate, ever, in the services. The Sister smiled and said we have faith in the Lord and dont need to ask for money. And she saaid if I'd like to make a donation that there are wooden collection boxes all over the church that I can leave my offering in...Doh! I had been walking right by those without seeing them, lol.

They wouldnt even pass a plate! No mini sermon before the message about how blessed you will be to plant a 1000 seed into the ministry blahblahblah. Nothing like that! And that's why that church was thick with the Holy Spirit!

I wear casual to a wedding I wear casual to a funeral (my casual is a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt) birthday party? I wear shorts or jeans and a shirt. I even wear jeans to work (I am a supervisor for a top diesel manufacturing and service company. I own a suit but I am not even sure into into one anymore. If anyone worse a suit to my wedding or my party or anything else they would stand out. Not everyone can afford a nice suit. So why make them feel bad or go into debt only to satisfy some tradition?

God is honored in what I do not what I wear. Try to focus on others not yourself. You will be much more blessed in what you do

My pastors wear jeans and nice shirts. They do not want people to focus on them they want to focus on God. No place in scripture does it tell a pastor to wear a robe or nice clothing to focus people eyes on them

The priesthood under law did. But the pastor is not a priest he is a shepherd. Ever see what a shepherd wears.

Yeah I thought so

What would I wear to a wedding? A summer dress I've had for ages and a pair of tennis shoes with bling.

That was how I dressed for my grand daughter's wedding a few weeks ago.
