I've worked as a carpenter before, and my car and truck were very organized. I've also done maintenance and plumbing work and my truck was organized and clean. I've raised my children at the same time and my house was clean and organized. It's not a magic pill, it's in the mindset of being organized. Do not say, "I'm too tired" to clean it up. Just do it and don't think about it.
My outside space is very messy these days as I can no longer do the gardening but inside my house is clean and tidy. Also a person can be clean and tidy whilst wearing jeans and and a jumper.
Hmm. But your outside space is an extension of the inside space. So if its clean and tidy inside, can't you clean up the outside too? If that were me, and I can't, then I'd find a kid that needs some money to clean it up for me.
Isn't that a bit judgemental, specially without know my full circumstances? I have paid gardeners to tidy it up with the promise that they will come once a month to maintain it. But they never do and then the garden get overgrown and weedy again and that money I spent is just wasted so I wont do it any more. my gardens are heavily planted and most 'kids' don't know a plant from a weed. I used to look after both of them but can only do so much these days as I am 82. I can still prune the shrubs in the back to keep the path clear but then need help binning all the waste. My front garden is a different matter. It is on a number of levels with twenty steps from the road up to the front door, so sadly my lovely garden has to be neglected. My son comes and keeps the steps clear every now and then.
Perhaps Rockerduck should provide you with the help to keep something up to the standard he has chosen to place on everyone. I know for a fact you use to keep your garden in good order and that if you could do that now you would , would suspect it bothers you that you can’t do it xxxxx
Well its tough for me to cut the grass. I hire these landscape guys to cut my grass. They are reliable. I hire a grass chemical company that takes care of fertilizing and weeds. They show up regularly. When I can't do something, I have to hire it done. I can't do concrete work anymore, but I hired a concrete company to pour me a new sidewalk. Getting old is fun, but the work isn't. My yard looks fantastic and Glorifies God.
I think that depends on who is taking the notes on the clothing another. I don't think that God cares, as He is looking soley at our hearts.
It does bother me @Rita - before we came here we lived in a two up two down on a main road with nothing between our front door and the pavement. When we made the decision to move I prayed and ask God for somewhere with a garden. And I have two forty foot gardens - that's lot of garden for anybody but I always loved them. i look out at at them now think , 'well they are still green and the birds come.;
Yes, He looks at the heart and intent. For example, you can say I love the Lord, but I don't feel like dressing up today. OR, you can say I love the Lord, this is the best I have for Your Glory today. Your best can be a clean pair of old jeans and it's your best.
Well good for you @Rockerduck As I said I have hired a gardener, in fact I have hired more than one, but they have not been reliable and I don't have a limitless bank balance.
The what we wear topic is nonsense to me. I know plenty of men who own one suit & it's for funerals, blue collar guys who labor hard. They might have a few polos. For the most part they are in jeans and work shirts. That's who they are. These guys have the biggest hearts for Christ.
The Lord is with me every minute of every day. He sees me in my pyjamas. He sees me in the shower. He sees me when I AM dressed up to go to a wedding of for a special meal. He knows I love him and respect him. When we 'go to church' we need to remember that there may be people there who don't have nice clothes so we don't need to set ourselves apart by our dress we need to be approachable.
My son is a truck driver and has never own a suit, so he comes to church in decent casual clothes. I suspect not many men have suits today.
For some it may be their best. If I wore my 'best' to a church gathering I would look over-dressed. And I don't want to call attention to myself in that way. People would think I was showing off.
The early Christians dressed modestly and ate house to house often. As the dispora brought them to cities the dress changed as it always does. All through the decades it was modesty. Up until these last days, in the last 20 years, and only now, some women, and I've seen it, want to wear their most revealing top and tightest jeans imagined. Is that ok to you. I've also seen short dresses for women to show their legs. I have been in ministry for 40 yrs and this is the worst I've seen it, in the last few years.
