Let's talk about the 10 Bridesmaids and how that parable is relevant to us modern day Christians.

We fing that parable in

Matthew 25:1-13
25 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids[a] who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, 4 but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’

7 “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. 8 Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’

9 “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’

10 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’

12 “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’

13 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return..../KJV

The 5 foolish virgins did not keep oil in their lamps so when the time came that the BrideGroom showed up, they had none, and asked the wise ones for some of their oil and were denied! Go buy some oil for yourself! They said.

Now we all know that the Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, am I right? Good, I'm glad we agree ;)
So how does one go buy oil? How does one buy the Holy Spirit?! In Acts 8 Simon tries to buy the Holy Spirit for money and gets turned down cold.

Acts 8:18-21
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.../KJV

So if we can't use money to buy the Holy Spirit oil, then how do we do it? It clearly says go buy some some for yourself! Well, I'll tell you how.

The modern day Christian buys Holy Spirit Oil with Prayer. Pray pray pray. Pray Unceasingly. Pray some more after that. Do it again tomorrow. Pray.

Am I right? did I read that parable right? Did I miss anything?

Engage with the Holy Spirit. Pick up that Bible to read...and He is there. Pray...and He is there.

Personally I think going to buy oil is simply an element of the story, and the real point of the parable is to say it's too late to get ready when Jesus has arrived.

I think trying to assign doctrinal meanings to all the elements of a parable won't yield the right result. It's a familiar story told, maybe with a twist, to present a basic idea.

It's like with the Parable of the Unjust Judge, if we try to match up everything, we end up making God unjust. But the point of the parable was to say keep praying and don't give up.

On this parable, the 10 bridesmaids, It's a Jewish story for a Jewish audience. Do all Christians sleep until He comes? Can you buy the Holy Spirit? Can you run out of the Holy Spirit?

Some of my thoughts . . .

Much love!

"Truly I say to you, I do not know you." These are the unwise. There are countless who call themselves "Christian" and yet are not. When The Lord had me to work in the public there were many who came to me and said they were Christian and yet were not. For every 100 who claimed this, the true amount could be counted on my right hand. You see with the anointing of The Holy Spirit including the gift of discernment of spirits when a true Christian comes my way then The Spirit bears witness to The Spirit in the other.I am instantly in The Spirit because of The Holy Spirit in the other true Christian. For the other majority, this does not happen. The Holy Spirit can not bear witness to that which has not entered in. Most are not willing to make Him Lord, Lord of all. Most do not want to lose their lives for His Names sake. Jesus has said, Behold I stand at the door and knock, If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will enter into him and sup(eat) with him and he with Me. The Lord does not enter in by a door that is cracked, this the enemy does. These same words you have written here are read by many who call themselves Christian even in the churches. The warning is for all of us for He will appear at an hour we least expect. There will be some that are wise and some that are foolish. To those that are wise He can not help but know, and it is these He will return for, for they are His special possession on The Day He acts.
So Ma2444, since you moved back, have you been ducking those nators. I was going to warn you back in the beginning of May. I hope you have a basement.

I dont get it what you say. What do you mean for a Jewish audience? That we gentile christians dont need the Holy Spirit? Only the Jews? Weren't us gentile christians grafted into the tree?

You can buy the Holy Spirit. Only not with money. We buy the Holy Spirit by drawing close to Him and engaging with Him and we give of ourselves to Him in prayer and obedience. Is the presence of the Holy Spirit for free? Well, no not in its most basic sense. We come into His presence by praying to Him. We are giving of ourselves to Him. Then the Holy Spirit gives of Himself to us and we have a relationship with Him. And if we do not come into His presence with prayer and supplications and keep on visiting Him...the relationship is not borm or strengthened.

Just like when you met your wife for the first time and liked her and wanted to pursue a relationship with her. So we go see her. We call her. if we dont contact her then she thinks we ar not interested in her and she goes away and no relationship is formed. Same thing.

"Nators" is short for tornados. The storms with tornados are passing through the land. Day and by night they are passing through. I have not a basement but am in a mobile home on a hill with no tie downs.

The modern day Christian buys Holy Spirit Oil with Prayer.

"Those that hath not the Holy Spirit IN THEM.. are none of God's".

Having the Spirit of God as "Christ in You"...which is to become "THE Temple of the Holy Spirit'.. is not something you pray to try to get....... its actually the proof that you are born again..

But you're being a wee bit short sighted. Take that thought further. It's not quite that you pray to get oil, you have a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit by being in Him and Hm in you. Being led by the Spirit. Abiding in the presence of God. Day to day moment to moment that means. So it's hanging out with them. With a friend that sticks closer than a brother. And you dont hang out with your best friend and forget his presence and ignore Him. SO you talk to Him. When you walk with the Spirit in this way He comes and draws closer to us and we are His.

And the next day and the next the same thing. When you do this all these things shall be added unto you. So you get the oil and an excess of oil. (which is the actual presence of the Lord within us.). It's not excessive to me but to the world it is! With the Lord God Almighty with me, who can be against me?!

Understand what I meant now?

Bingo. Can you feel the presence of the Lord with you right now? I can. It's not really a "feeling" more of a perception. And that perception is our proof, like you say.

I *think* that if you can perceive that the Spirit of God is upon you, then you're ok. If you can't perceive the presence of the Lord with you...then it's time to pray !!

Would you agree?

Take that thought further. It's not quite that you pray to get oil,

"oil".... = the Holy Spirit.

So, a believer has the Holy Spirit in them, as they have become : "the TEMPLE of the HOLY Spirit".

You dont pray for that.........because its already happened, as this is the proof the person is a CHRISTian.

Bingo. Can you feel the presence of the Lord with you right now? I can.

What happens when you can't "feel the spirit"?

Did He go shopping?

"brb"....

So, the Holy Spirit, that indwells the BELIEVER born again, is the proof that the person is born again.

And you asked me if i can "feel the HS".

Let me tell you how i "feel" the HS, when i come to a "christian" forum(s)..., most of the time. 90%.

i read some CRAZY post, or Thread, that is like an acid trip, trying to explain some symbolic verse and its just "fruit loops gone into orbit".

And i think to myself..>"Why is this stuff always being ALLOWED on a "CHRISTIAN" forum(s..).........!

So, i'll read where someone is trying to destroy someone's faith, with Calvinism, or with some other demonic doctrine, and then, the HOLY SPIRIT in me, becomes annoyed, and that is because the Holy Spirit is the "Spirit of TRUTH" and when He's confronted with false religion, or Cross denying lies, then HE is not happy, and i feel Him..

I hope that answers your question.

The Lord told us that He will never leave us or forsake us. So He doesn't walk away. Sometimes we walk away! And we walk off into the world and begin making decisions for ourself. He is still there and never left. It was us who took our attenion off of Him and walked away. So there's no oil being added while we walked away. Until we bring ourself to His attention again. I've wondered if we lose His protection when we do this?

So, the Holy Spirit, that indwells the BELIEVER born again, is the proof that the person is born again.

Agreed. But it not insignificant when we walk away from Him!

(Says morning prayers), Lord be with me. Lord, speak to me...etc...Amen.
Gets up and walks out to go to work or the store or whatever...
We leave Jesus sitting there. He didnt have time to speak before you were walking out.
And YOU a Born Again Believer...didn't even invite Him to come along!
So He lets us go to not interfere with our free will...sits down to wait for you to come back!

Not how a true Believer treats his best friend, is it?

And you asked me if i can "feel the HS".

It sure does. And not so oddly enough, those are about the same kind of thoughts I get on forums, lol. I just dont think we should take it for granted that the HS will be with us and not even invite Him!

HOW MUCH MORE will MY FATHER GIVE THE SPIRIT unto those who ask Him .
Too many folks are too busy praying for bentlies and big houses and etc .
SEEK and ye shall find .
KNOCK and it shall be opened ,
ask and ye shall recieve
FOR HOW MUCH MORE shall MY HEAVENLY FATHER GIVE the SPIRIT unto those who ask .
WHEN SEEK , KNOCK and ASK becomes all about the SPIRITUAL
and the desire be so we can please GOD and learn of HIM . THE FAR BETTER OFF many would have been indeed .
yet so many have turned seek , knock and ask INTO GREED and LUSTS OF EARTHERN THINGS .
HOW quickly a prosperity gospel can turn the heart of man away FROM GOD and unto earthern riches . .

PS , never heed calvin the vatican its popes nor scores of others .
THEY lead only unto death and the second death . sharp that may seem but TRUE IT BE .
TIME to bible up for ourselves .
