Some of us on here are TRUTH Seekers = "Thy word is Truth"
Why did God Command this? - Exodus 31:12-17
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
13“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it
is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that
you may know that I
am the Lord who sanctifies you
. You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for
it is holy to you. Everyone who
[c]profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does
any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.
15Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh
is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does
any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations
as a perpetual covenant.
17It
is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for
in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”
So I found this interesting.
When God took Israel out of Egypt, He promised to send them to the land of the ites.. Canaanites, Amorites, Hivites, Hittites.Jebusites.
Lots of ites.
To a large open space flowing with milk and honey.
These peoples lived in the promised land.
Exo 13:3
And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this
place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
Exo 13:4
This day came ye out in the month Abib.
Exo 13:5
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
Exo 13:6
Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day
shall be a feast to the LORD.
Exo 13:7
Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
Exo 13:8
And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying,
This is done because of that
which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
Exo 13:9
And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.
Exo 13:10
Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
When you come to the NT Jesus mentions beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. Leaven meaning Hypocrisy, and unleavened meaning in sincerity and truth.
Luk 12:1
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
1Co 5:8
Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened
bread of sincerity and truth.
They were supposed to be the light of the world, as Jesus sent us to be... to the Gentiles.
Mat 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Now God says he is going to send in Israel into these nations, And his Angel is going to go before them to cut them off.
Why is he going to cut them off?
Exo 23:20
Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Exo 23:21
Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name
is in him.
Exo 23:22
But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
Exo 23:23
For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.
Exo 23:24
Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.
Exo 23:25
And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
Exo 23:26
There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
Sounds like the wild olive branch Paul talks about that gets cut off but is able to be grafted in again.
Romans Chapter 11.
Deu 9:5
Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Deu 9:6
Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou
art a stiffnecked people.
The topography of the earth abounds with mountains and valleys. And God throws down the high and lofty and raises up the meek and lowly.
And so these Gentiles got thrown out of the good land because they made gods for themselves to bow down to, and worshipped the works of their hands. So God cut them off.
So I would have to ask... Did these nations know to do good? Did they know God and then forget God?
These came from the sons of Noah right? What did they forget?
Was Israel sent there to show them who he is, Like Jesus came to show us who the Father is?
Ring around the rosie, we all fall down.
There is none righteous, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Good day with Dad today.
