Cyrus did not call himself the God of IsraelIn the mind of God Cyrus was also known, but that didn’t make him God.
he never received the land.Abraham never received the promise.
he never received the land.
But he received something far greater. the same thing we all need to receive,.,.
We certainly are to affirm the truth. That doesn't mean being blind to ourselves though. The Bible doesn't give us the option of self-affirmation. There is a judgment coming that has nothing to do with what our self-esteem is telling us.
Without the power of the Spirit...how will we realize that being "poor, naked, wretched and blind" is really about us?
Mental assent is certainly part of it. But you have it right, in my opinion. We give mental assent to the content of our faith. But putting our faith into practice is an act of the will, and as such, the Spirit of God is instrumental in the transformation of our will, such that we walk in the loving warmth of his grace.I assume you're talking about mental assent....? That's the point though, it isn't just mental assent with true believers. Our faith is due to a miraculous intervention of God.
He lived in the land, But he never received What God promised to him.The land;
This is what God has shared with me concerning the land. You see Abraham lived in the land where Israel stands today.
The land God was referring too was the heart of man, where God wished too dwell.
This began with Jesus.
The parable of the soils. It’s where the seed was cast.He lived in the land, But he never received What God promised to him.
He said that they would not recieve it yet because the sin of the amorite was not yet complete. In fact he said it would be 400 years..
remember, they had to purchase a plot of land in what was promised to bury his wife
Gen 23 Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. 2 So Sarah died in Kirjath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.
3 Then Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying, 4 “I am a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”
9 that he may give me the cave of Machpelah which he has, which is at the end of his field. Let him give it to me at the full price, as property for a burial place among you.”
The land was only promised to Israel. It was not promised to the word. So the heart is not the land. it does not fit.
Of course. But you don't want to acknowledge the inner change that has already taken place in we who believe....."for I delight in the Law of God after the inward man"......"the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who created him." Haven't you experienced the new birth? Didn't it change you?Jesus also told the religious dictates of his time, they look good on the outside.
If you see this as being a literal land promise then okay.He lived in the land, But he never received What God promised to him.
He said that they would not recieve it yet because the sin of the amorite was not yet complete. In fact he said it would be 400 years..

I get it. They told me I was naked also.Of course. But you don't want to acknowledge the inner change that has already taken place in we who believe....."for I delight in the Law of God after the inward man"......"the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who created him." But it doesn't end there....we are to grow and go on to perfection. The gospel we received is likened to a seed that needs to grow.....our faith needs to grow like a mustard seed that grows up into a tree of life. The concept of growing and being perfected is all over the new testament.
Amen, and being restored to relationship with God means we have been reconciled to Him, no longer separated from Him due to sins. That's nothing like @Lizbeth said however. We know we are His by His Spirit within us. This is how I know. It's not because we have good opinions of our behavior, it's not because we think we conform to some "Law", but because we know, that is, we have relationship with our Creator.
Why the need to cheapen this to be full of dead men's bones? The Holy Spirit gives us life, not death. It's a different life, not like the old life, and knowing Him. Otherwise, how are not not simply continuing in dead works?
Being Christian is about knowing God, and being alive in Him, and being a different person because of that.
Much love!
Twelve tribes of the Israel of God, the city that is above.......which includes Gentiles. And James was written too the twelve tribes of Israel.![]()
In the image of Him who created him. Hmmmm.Of course. But you don't want to acknowledge the inner change that has already taken place in we who believe....."for I delight in the Law of God after the inward man"......"the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who created him." Haven't you experienced the new birth? Didn't it change you?

I see.Twelve tribes of the Israel of God, the city that is above.......which includes Gentiles.
Wow, yes.John 8:47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.
So does this mean when you sin you are again separated?Amen, and being restored to relationship with God means we have been reconciled to Him, no longer separated from Him due to sins.
Correct. It was never a geographical conquest!
