True if they have been saved by faith and are born again.I’d further say that many here are the seed of abram.
Seems they’d know by now Abram isn’t their daddy.True if they have been saved by faith and are born again.
Hey did you post earlier that you were a Calvin for forty years?True if they have been saved by faith and are born again.
Exactly. The condemnation spoken before Christ did what no other man would do. John looked and heard “behold the Lamb of God”?That parable warns and exhorts, that's what it does. Nothing more, nothing less. And Jesus hadn't yet died on the cross when He spoke it.
Yes I was.Hey did you post earlier that you were a Calvin for forty years?
Wonder who this is speaking of?till you be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain
yes, the ministration of the Spirit......and by the Spirit Jesus and the apostles did faithfully warn and exhort. No need for quotation marks as if warn is a dirty word, when it is entirely biblical and kosher, not to mention necessary, under the new covenant.I can see what you mean about condemnation. Where you said it is “a warning” (did I understand that correctly?) like the parables were a warning also. But there is the ministration of condemnation. Which had glory. But there is a ministration that excels in Glory; the ministration of the Spirit. Which are we under and of…is the question I have?
You said:
“This parable corrects that wrong attitude, for both Jew and Gentile....because that unfortunately is also an attitude that self-righteous believing Gentiles can have as well.”
To me you nailed it. The warning being a self-righteous attitude…excluding the gentiles. You hinted at sadly the same self-righteous attitude the gentiles have as well. If that is indeed the condemnation then to me the warning is “He tore down” “removed” the partition wall between” making of two …One. But that isn’t what the parable warns about “who repaired the breech” …instead the parable is to boast who is on the right side and who is on the wrong. To me, or at least in my opinion…the parable is said to promote self-righteousness instead of demolishing it where…the warning was about self-Righteousness. Is that is the warning…then is not the heart of the parable is what Christ has repaired, restored, healed, removed? Or about those on the left and those on the right? This coming from a church that says “it is a free gift guys”.
I just didn't know what Epi had to do with this particular part of the conversation. I haven't been able to concentrate and keep up very well, but don't remember that he said anything about it.Yes I would be curious to know as well sister.
Just didn't know what he has to do with what me and Victory are discussing.I have no idea as I don’t follow him?
I don’t think warning is a dirty word. I used the quotes instead to validate the warning or accentuate it. I guess I should have boldened it instead. The warning to me though is the parable is not to boast our rightness and the “good” side but the warning is to tear down boasting in-between. The rich man begs for a drop of water to quench his thirst. We quote it. Jesus Christs’ own words with men it impossible for a rich man to enter in but with God nothing is impossible. We can say the point is the rich man can’t enter. Or that with God all things are possible. The parable about the foolish and the wise. Also a warning in my opinion. The wise say “nay. There is not enough for me and you.” Christ says “wake up you who sleep. I will give you Light.” No boasting in it. Every one and any one who asks for light…never does he say “Nay, there is not enough for me and you.”yes, the ministration of the Spirit......and by the Spirit Jesus and the apostles did faithfully warn and exhort. Think we should just receive the illustration of the parable like a child (humble) would, and not overcomplicate or overreach what Jesus was intending to simply illustrate.
Blessings in Christ Jesus amigo de christo. Kinda like an unwalled city that says, "God Bless (this unwalled city) while their backs are turned on The Lord and His ways, while holding abominations, in their left hand, and their right. Unless repentance is heard in this unwalled city, His hand will not be turned back.Go to and examine well what the days and times looked like in Israel , jerusalem
RIGHT before GOD JUDGED and destroyed his own people . those who lipped his name but their hearts were far from him .
Also says "Except ye become as little children...." . It is possible to overreach the Lord, I mean we sure can if we want to..... and that is a snare (pride).1 Corinthians 14:20 KJV
[20] Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
And they that shall be of you will build the old waste places? And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places:
Golly, is all that what Jesus was trying to teach with that parable?I don’t think warning is a dirty word. I used the quotes instead to validate the warning or accentuate it. Isaiah 58:12 And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you (Christ) shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
Also says there are those that prevent from entering in those that wouldAlso says "Except ye become as little children...." . It is possible to overreach the Lord, I mean we sure can if we want to..... and that is a snare (pride).
Golly, is all that what Jesus was trying to teach with that parable?
Well, yes, Jesus repairs the breach between God and man (through faith in Him), but that wasn't the point of that story about Lazarus and the rich man. I mean repairing the breach just isn't the lesson that it is illustrating.
