Catholics are always telling me that Peter is the rock the church is built on. I hear Catholic say it all the time. They're wrong Jesus is the greater rock that the church is built upon. This rock who is Jesus isn't a man. He is a immortal incorruptible life giving spirit who is the head and foundation of the church. No man is the head and foundation of the true church.
It doesn't matter who else in scripture is called rock. The only begotten Son of God is the greater rock, and it's he who is the head and foundation of the true church not a man. It is Jesus Christ who is the head and foundation of the true church he's an immortal incorruptible life giving spirit.

An ambassador basically is an official representative sent out by a ruler on a special occasion for a specific purpose.
So Jesus Christ came as YHWH God’s “apostle,” or “sent one.” So for a temporary time Jesus was an ambassador.

After Jesus Christ had been resurrected to the heavens, being no longer on earth in person, his faithful followers were appointed to act in his place, “substituting for Christ” as ambassadors of God. Paul specifically mentions his office of ambassadorship. (2Corinthians 5:18-20) He, like all the anointed followers of Jesus Christ, was sent to nations and people who were alienated from YHWH God the Supreme Sovereign—ambassadors to a world not at peace with God. (John 14:30; 15:18, 19; James 4:4) As an ambassador, Paul bore a message of reconciliation to God through Christ and therefore spoke of himself while in prison as “an ambassador in chains.” (Ephesians 6:20) His being in chains is a demonstration of the hostile attitude of this world toward God, his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, and the Messianic Kingdom government, for ambassadors have since time immemorial been considered inviolate. It revealed the greatest hostility and was the grossest of insults on the part of the nations when they disrespected the ambassadors sent to represent the Kingdom of God under Christ. So Peter wasn't the only ambassador, all the apostles and disciples of Jesus Christ are ambassadors, and the apostles and disciples of Jesus Christ have no human individual head ambassador over all the other apostles and disciples of Jesus Christ who are ambassadors.
This isn’t about a “greater Rock” or an “inferior Rock”. It’s about what Jesus told Simon bar Jonah.

Matt. 16:18-19

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. WHATEVER YOU BIND on earth shall be bound in heaven; and WHATEVER YOU LOOSE on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Remember, that Jesus and the Apostles spoke AramaicNOT Greek. What Jesus actually said was:

“You are Kepha and on this Kepha I will build my church . . .”
That’s why Paul refers to Peter as “Cephas” in his letters.

Jesus doesn’t differentiate between “Petros” and “Petra”, which are masculine and feminine Greek nouns.
There is only ONE work for Rock in Aramaic – and that is Kepha.

Jesus singles out Peter here, giving him the Keys to the Kingdom in an almost verbatim fulfillment os the promise of God to Eliakim over the House of David in Isaiah 22. He again singles out Peter at the Last Supper when He tells him that he is praying for HIM (singular) to strengthen the others and bring them back to faith.

He singles him out a THIRD time after the Resurrection in John 21:15-19 when He tells Peter to “Feed my lambs, “Tend my sheep”, “Feed my sheep”.

In Rev. 21, we see the Heavenly Jerusalem coming out from Heaven – and it is build on 12 Foundations. Each foundation has the name of one of the Apostles.
In keeping with the rest of Scripture – where Peter’s name is FIRST before ALL of the others in every listing, his name is undoubtedly on the first foundation.

As for Peter being an ambassador of Jesus – NOBODY is saying that he is the ONLY ambassador. He is the Chief ambassador – the Vicar.

Like I said – it’s not about “greater Rocks”
It’s about Jesus’s promise about His Church in Matt. 16:18-19.

What is your belief about what heaven is? Or where it might be?
Apparently Peter was given authority to either reveal or refrain from revealing spiritual truths.
And then there is Paul. What do you make of him?
Everything he teaches comes from the Torah and is presented to all people around the world.
He is not confined to one particular people as Peter was. He was to go to the Israel tribes only.
Paul rebuked Peter when after Peter believed that he was sent to the Gentiles, was not living according to what he was preaching.
That has to show you something right there. Practice what you preach.

So the torch was handed over to Paul instead.
Thus in this case Peter himself is the prodigal son.
Paul who was Saul given a mission from Rome to destroy all christians (another HINT btw) is the one converted and sent to feed Jesus' sheep.

I pray someday the Catholic church will be converted also, just as Jesus prayed for Peter's conversion.

HISTORY repeats itself.

Hugs

No - it's an observation, based on an anti-Catholic perversion of the Bread of Life Discourse in John 6.
The true bread of life has no physical substance.
And to create such by the works of thine own hands is Idolatry.
Shame.

Yes, very sad. But even people who have been led astray or taught a different gospel must be responsible before God for their own decisions. Specially after so many of us on sites like this have tried to point them towards Jesus - the real Jesus. They can no longer tell God that they haven't heard the truth. It makes my heart ache to think of all the times the real truth has been torn to shreds by their own interpretation of it.
* Teaching...Come to Jesus as a child.
That means; not with the answers, but eager, curious, trusting....

* Warning...Many will preach in sheep’s clothing....

* Warning...Many will be ear tickled and duped....

* Beware.....Verify with Scripture, Validate with Scripture, Read, Re-read, be diligent.

* ASK HIM for His Understanding. Be Patient, He will tell you.
(Often at most unexpected time.)

Glory to God,

One of the other factors I think Christians may want to consider when realizing the falsity of the Romans church is they attribute, worship, and credit Mary as co-redemptrix with Christ. And, worse, label that mortal woman as, "" Mother of God".

God does not have a mother. And Mary does not save!

You have been duped by Satan's lies for believing all that craziness that Catholicism actually opposes. But you aren't ready for the truth. You won't lower your prejudice a tad because your psychotic attacks meets some sick need.
Do you honor your mother?
You don't realize you're covering up what your own reformers taught about Mary. You're not ready for that either. Your mind is too cemented.

The Satanic Black Mass is a mockery of the Eucharist. Satanists will steal a consecrated host for their evil desecrating rituals, they can't be bothered with counterfeits. Your communion bread is quite safe.

Jesus doesn’t differentiate between “Petros” and “Petra”, which are masculine and feminine Greek nouns.

I understand that as far as the Catholic Church is concerned, the close similarity between the two terms, petros and petrai, they believe it shows that Peter is the foundation stone of the true church, or Christian congregation. But since the Bible has much to say about the symbolic stone, It is necessary to examine other verses in order to gain a correct understanding.

Important prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures(Old Testament) had already announced the coming of a symbolic foundation stone and the double role it would play. It was to be an instrument of salvation for those who exercised faith: “Here I am laying as a foundation in Zion a stone, a tried stone, the precious corner of a sure foundation. No one exercising faith will get panicky.” (Isaiah 28:16) Paradoxically, it was to be a rock over which the unbelieving Israelites would have stumbled: “The stone that the builders rejected has become the head of the corner.” (Psalm 118:22) “As a stone to strike against and as a rock over which to stumble to both the houses of Israel.”(Isaiah 8:14)

Is it possible for a mere man, especially impulsive Peter, to play out the double role of this symbolic stone? (Matthew 26:33-35, 69-75; Mark 14:34-42) In whom should we exercise faith in order to obtain salvation, in Peter or in someone greater? Over whom did the Israelites stumble, over Peter or over Jesus? The Scriptures clearly indicate that the prophecies concerning the precious stone were fulfilled, not in Peter, but in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. It was Jesus who applied the prophecies of Isaiah and Psalm 118 to himself, as Matthew 21:42-45 shows.

Peter himself, as we read at 1 Peter 2:4-8, considered Jesus, and not himself, to be the foundation stone. On a previous occasion, when speaking to the Jewish religious leaders, he confirmed that “Jesus Christ the Nazarene” was “the stone that was treated by you builders as of no account that has become the head of the corner.”(Acts 4:10, 11)

The apostle Paul was of like mind, as can be seen from scriptures such as Romans 9:31-33,; 1 Corinthians 10:4, and Ephesians 2:20, this last verse confirming the fact that the members of the Christian congregation are “built up upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, while Christ Jesus himself is the foundation cornerstone.” He is also ‘the head of the congregation,’ which he guides from the heavens. “I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things,” said Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22; 5:23; Matthew 28:20; Colossians 1:18)

Did Jesus nominate one of them as his “vicar” with supreme powers, like the pope after his ascension to heaven? No, he did not establish a monarchical form of government over the congregation. Instead, he committed the care of the flock to a body, or group, of faithful servants. At its beginning, the Christian congregation was guided by the entire body of the 12 apostles, along with elders in the Jerusalem congregation.

It was the 12 apostles, collectively, who decided how to provide for the material necessities of needy ones. (Acts 6:1-6) The body of 12 also decided who should be sent to the Samaritans after they had accepted the good news, and Peter and John were chosen. On this occasion, it would appear that Peter, far from making decisions on his own, was simply one of those “dispatched” by the apostles. (Acts 8:14)

Finally, it was during the assembly held in Jerusalem circa 49 C.E. that “the apostles and the older men” decided on the basis of the Scriptures that it was not necessary to circumcise the Gentiles who had been converted to Christianity. (Acts 15:1-29) From the historical account, it is clear that it was not Peter but James, the half brother of Jesus, who presided at that assembly. In fact, he concluded the proceedings by saying: “My decision is not to trouble those from the nations who are turning to God.” (Acts 15:19) Would James have been able to speak of ‘his decision’ if Peter, who was present, held the primacy among the apostles?

The apostle Paul, when speaking of the various ministries that contributed to the upbuilding of the congregation, did not mention the so-called magisterium of the pope but rather the collective service of all the apostles.(1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11, 12)

Because of his zeal and initiative, Peter played a considerable role. Jesus gave him “the keys of the kingdom of the heavens.” (Matthew 16:19) He used these symbolic keys to open up to Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles the opportunity to enter into the Kingdom of the heavens. (Acts 2:14-40; 8:14-17; 10:24-48) He was also given the responsibility of ‘binding’ and ‘loosing,’ a task he shared with the other apostles. (Matthew 16:19; 18:18, 19) He was to shepherd the Christian congregation, something that all Christian overseers must do. (Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:2)

God bestowed great power on Jesus’ faithful disciples, including the ability to perform miracles. But nowhere do we read that he empowered them to make infallible utterances. As faithful as he was, Peter committed errors. On one occasion the apostle Paul corrected him in public. (Matthew 16:21-23; 26:31-34; Galatians 2:11-14)

Only the Scriptures are infallible, being the Word of God. Peter spoke of “the prophetic word” to which to pay attention as to a shining lamp. (2 Peter 1:19-21) If we are to know God’s will, then we must entrust ourselves to his ‘living’ Word. (Hebrews 4:12) Only God’s Word, and not an ambiguous definition by religious leaders, offers the certainties that mankind so badly needs. (Matthew 24:45-47)

"

The prefix, "Co," comes from the Latin "cum," which means "with." The title of Coredemptrix applied to the Mother of Jesus never places Mary on a level of equality with Jesus Christ, the divine Lord of all, in the saving process of humanity's Redemption. Rather, it denotes Mary's singular and unique sharing with her Son in the saving work of Redemption for the human family. The Mother of Jesus participates in the redemptive work of her Savior Son, who alone could reconcile humanity with the Father in his glorious divinity and humanity."2

Mary's entire existence has been one of cooperation with the Lord. So it was on Calvary. She who was preserved by God from Original Sin at the moment of her conception and heard from the mouth of Simeon that "you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed"3 accepted the salvific death of her Son not with a "hands-off" approach but instead by embracing it. The Second Vatican Ecumenical Council (1962-1965), in its Dogmatic Constitution on the Church (Lumen Gentium) of November 21, 1964, painted this picture of Our Blessed Lady's collaboration with the Almighty, which included her heroic surrender to Christ's ignominious death.

"Thus the Blessed Virgin advanced in her pilgrimage of faith, and faithfully persevered in her union with her Son unto the cross, where she stood, in keeping with the divine plan, enduring with her only begotten Son the intensity of his suffering, associated herself with his sacrifice in her mother's heart, and lovingly consenting to the immolation of this victim which was born of her."4

Deacon Miravalle spells out precisely what Mary did next to her dying Son.

"Mary uniquely participated in the sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary and in the acquisition of the graces of Redemption for humanity (theologically referred to as "objective redemption"). Mary offered her Son and her maternal rights in relation to her Son to the Heavenly Father in perfect obedience to God's will and in atonement for the sins of the world. Mary's offering of her own Son on Calvary, along with her own motherly compassion, rights and suffering, offered in union with her Son for the salvation of the human family, merited more graces than any other created person. As Pope Pius XII confirmed in his encyclical On the Mystical Body, Mary "offered Him on Golgotha to the Eternal Father, together with the holocaust of her maternal rights and her motherly love, like a New Eve for all children of Adam." 5"

"Mary's offering of her own Son on Calvary"

This statement alone is not only heretical but damnable "Mother of God" Babylonian idolatry.

Revelation 18:3-8
For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.

Problem with that is, it's turning out that the conspiracy theorists are the ones with the actual facts that criminals do not want the world to learn about.
Should we deny the Inquisition the same way some deny the Holocaust?

The eucharist is idolatry regardless what religion worships it.
In the Torah the Priests made 12 loaves of bread, one for each tribe of Israel.
During Shabbat, The Priests would offer this bread to God. It was an offering to Him.
After the service the Priests would remove the Bread of His Presence and Aaron and his sons were the only ones who could eat it.
The reason for the Bread of presence wasn't so the people could eat God... (that sounds horrible)
But rather that God would join them at the table with His presence.

The Catholic church has warped this, twisted it and turned it upside down.

Even that ritual was replaced with the spiritual truth concerning what that true bread is.
My communion with Jesus through Prayer is safe. Not because of any man offering it to me, but because Jesus shared His word with me.
Bread IS the words of the Lord that you ingest into your heart and mind and find sustenance therein.
Your eucharist is filled with a lot of leaven.

I didn't realize this was going to be a thread about Rome.

We have never denied the Inquisition. What we deny is anti-Catholic phony exaggerations, like the slaughtering of the entire population of Europe. You are derailing with 3 off topic flaming zingers because you're uncharitable accusations have been exposed.

No, we identify with the Jewish Bread of the Presence, and you have divorced yourself from Jewish roots. The Shabbat foreshadows the Eucharist, that you fail to comprehend. You don't fulfil Passover in any meaningful sense.
Even that ritual was replaced with the spiritual truth concerning what that true bread is.

Go ahead and spiritualize real bread. It's not what Jesus said.

30. The lack of a definitive teaching authority in Protestant (as with the Catholic magisterium) makes many individual Protestants think that they have a direct line to God, notwithstanding all of Christian Tradition and the history of biblical exegesis (a "Bible, Holy Spirit and me" mentality). Such people are generally under-educated theologically, unteachable, lack humility, and have no business making presumed "infallible" statements about the nature of Christianity.

I didn't realize this was going to be a thread about Rome.
I'm not here to condemn people and their beliefs.
You are the one who said Saul of Tarsus was commissioned by Rome to kill Christians, a ridiculous idiotic remark. Pagan Rome persecuted the Jews as well as Christians. "I'm not here to condemn people and their beliefs". Oh yes you are, by mocking our beliefs. When anyone starts mocking the Eucharist, the fun stops.
But there are some things that you have to stand against at times.
Like Paul standing against Peter to his face.
Sometimes the truth hurts and I didn't join this thread to cause harm.
Peter was a hypocrite in that instance, and so Paul rebuked him. They had no differences theologically. You pretend they were competitors. Popes have been rebuked throughout history (e.g., by St. Catherine of Siena, St. Dominic, St. Francis). It doesn’t follow that they have no authority. Jesus rebuked and excoriated the Pharisees, but He told His followers to follow their teaching, even though they acted like hypocrites ((Matt 23:2 ff.).
Your "Paul standing against Peter to his face" obsession holds no water.
I'm done here.
Shaking off the dust from my feet.
May you find the truth and set you free.

You mock the Eucharist in much the same as the Satanists, just not as severely as them. That places you on the same hate spectrum, just not on the far end of the spectrum as the Satanists. I'm not done exposing your privatized version of Christianity, and your anti-Protestant, anti-Semite nonsense. You are probably another arrogant anti-trinitarian as well.
Run. You brought a pea shooter to a gun fight, metaphorically speaking. Good riddance.

From the OP:
The word church was first used in the New Testament and is a translation of the Greek word ekklesia, which means a calling out. Jesus said to his disciples, “I have chosen you out of the world.” (John 15:19) The true church is a company of believers who, in accepting the invitation of Christ, have become sanctified or separated from the world, worldly pursuits and worldly organizations.

Act 7:34
I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
Act 7:35
This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Act 7:36
He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
Act 7:37
This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
Act 7:38
This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
Act 7:39
To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
Act 7:40
Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

ekklēsía, ek-klay-see'-ah; from a compound of G1537 and a derivative of G2564; a calling out, i.e. (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both):—assembly, church.

How easily the children in the wilderness fell away from following God and his messenger Moses.
After 40 years of God providing for them, it took only 40 days and nights to rebel.

When Moses came down from the mountain, the chilfren of Israel had created for themselves an idol, a golden calf to worship.
Moses was wroth and cast down God's words written with His own finger, spoken by His own mouth, to the ground and shattered them in pieces.

Moses didn't say, let's just sit down together and break some bread and try to get along.
This day there would be a dividing of the wheat from the tares.

Exo 32:7
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
Exo 32:15
And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
Exo 32:16
And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

Exo 32:19
And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
Exo 32:20
And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

Exo 32:26
Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
Exo 32:27
And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
Exo 32:28
And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

Act 7:42
Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
Act 7:43
Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

Rephan,
Ῥαιφάν (Rhaiphan)
Noun - Genitive Masculine Singular
Strong's 4481: Rephan, the Saturn of later mythology. By incorrect transliteration for a word of Hebrew origin; Remphan, an Egyptian idol.

Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

This isn't about Catholicism or Judaism or even Americanism.
The whole world is infested with idolatry.

Act 17:22
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Act 17:27
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
Act 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Act 17:29
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Act 17:30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

1Co 10:14
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
