Only the man indwelt by the Spirit of God continues to be a living soul with spiritual life through the Spirit in them. This intellect comes through our mind, that equips man with divine inspiration that means man understands the supernatural force that enables man to both know and have a relationship with the Creator. The breath of life from the Creator Spirit, is defined both soul, and spirit because the spirit life in man can continue to be alive after the body dies if man dies in faith. Because only the faithful, all who have been born again, possess the Spirit from Christ. Since the life man receives through the Spirit from Christ in them is eternal, our spirit can never die. In death our spirit being alive through the Spirit from Christ leaves our mortal dead body, and ascends to heaven a spiritual body, also a living soul.

Yes, the body without the spirit is dead. Because the spirit is what gives our body life. Having a spirit is to have conscientiousness, our mind/intellect which is the control center of our body. That's why when God created man from the dust, He breathed life (spirit) into the lump of clay, and the lump of clay now with conscientiousness became a living soul. The same is true of every living creature upon the earth.

The difference between living creatures upon the earth and mankind is that God also gives His Spirit to whosoever believes in Christ. It is through His Spirit that man shall live forever. Without His Spirit in our spirit, when our body dies it returns to dust, and every human spirit returns to God who gave it. If man has been born again his spirit returns to God alive, or as Scripture says, a living (spirit) soul. Without the Holy Spirit in man, his spirit returns to God without life.

When Scripture says the soul departs, it simply means the body has died. I believe the parable of Lazarus and the rich man is a narrative, symbolizing what shall become of both the faithful and unfaithful after they die. When the last trumpet sounds that time on this earth shall be no more, then shall come to pass that which the parable describes for both the faithful and unfaithful. The fate on one the burning lake of eternal fire, the other shall be paradise upon the new earth when paradise, which is heaven shall be upon the new earth.

Revelation 2:7 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Since the advent of Christ coming in human form, and defeating sin and death, when believers die our spirit goes as spirit soul to heaven to be with the Lord until the last day of this age.

A living, breathing creature is called a living soul Bob. How does the living soul have physical life? (Gn. 2:7) Souls can only be alive when the breath of life, called a 'spirit' remains in them. (Jo 6:63) When the physical body of all living creatures succumbs to death, it is because the spirit that gave them life returned to God, who gave it (Ec. 12:7). What happens to the 'spirit' within man when it returns to God indwelt with the Holy Spirit? (Jo 14:16) Does not Scripture tell us the Holy Spirit gives man eternal life? How is man's life through the Holy Spirit eternal if death means we are no longer living souls?

I agree fully RW, except that the breath of life will return to us in the resurrection. Interestingly angels are not breathing creatures, but no doubt they too are animated by holy spirit, do you agree? We are only living souls, by having the breath of life in us, when that breath/spirit (ruach) leaves us, we die. The soul is dead at that point sir, and there is no superiority of us over a dead animal at that point. But the Bible promises a resurrection, and that resurrection began with Jesus being resurrected, no doubt motivation many to place importance on his resurrection. Many faiths celebrate it in fact.

I do not believe Body’s go to hell.
I do believe all Departed Living souls ... saved and unsaved souls ... used to go to Hell, but were not together. Separated by a great Gulf.

One side;
Tree of life, called Paradise, Called Abraham’s Bosom, (notifies us Faithful Abraham’s Saved soul was there, ) (notifies us, those living souls with Abraham were Saved). They were at peace and in comfort.

Other side of Gulf;
Misery, unrest, chaos, distress, torments.
Nothing comforting, Nothing pleasant. Putrid smell of sulfur. Yells of agony. Gloomy. Extremely hot, no relief to cool down.

What changed....and Why...and for Who.

I agree fully RW, except that the breath of life will return to us in the resurrection. Interestingly angels are not breathing creatures, but no doubt they too are animated by holy spirit, do you agree? We are only living souls, by having the breath of life in us, when that breath/spirit (ruach) leaves us, we die. The soul is dead at that point sir, and there is no superiority of us over a dead animal at that point. But the Bible promises a resurrection, and that resurrection began with Jesus being resurrected, no doubt motivation many to place importance on his resurrection. Many faiths celebrate it in fact.

I do not believe Body’s go to hell.
I do believe all Departed Living souls ... saved and unsaved souls ... used to go to Hell, but were not together. Separated by a great Gulf.

One side;
Tree of life, called Paradise, Called Abraham’s Bosom, (notifies us Faithful Abraham’s Saved soul was there, ) (notifies us, those living souls with Abraham were Saved). They were at peace and in comfort.

Other side of Gulf;
Misery, unrest, chaos, distress, torments.
Nothing comforting, Nothing pleasant. Putrid smell of sulfur. Yells of agony. Gloomy. Extremely hot, no relief to cool down.

What changed....and Why...and for Who.

The original words for what was translated hell is Sheol, and Hades. Hebrew and Greek respectively. They both are referring to the same place, how do we know this? Note this prophecy and fulfillment:

Ps 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

The original word was Sheol
Ac 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Actually Bob, the Bible speaks plainly regarding who the 144,000 are. They are "of all the tribes of the children of Israel." These symbolize the faithful remnant saved from Old Covenant Israel. Though the Spirit has always been with faithful saints of old, He was not sent to be IN the faithful of Christ until Pentecost. Rev 7 depicts how the angels were instructed to hold back the four winds, four symbolizing universal, and winds, symbolizing the Spirit indwelling people of faith throughout the world. The sealing by the Spirit is how the faithful have assurance of eternal life. After the elect remnant of old were sealed, they would be included with the innumerable multitude seen in heaven (Rev 7:9). The next time we see the 144,000 they are before the Lamb on heavenly Mount Sion "having his Father's name written in their foreheads." They are firstfruits because they are the first to ascend a spirit with the Lord after His resurrection. They were redeemed from the earth, being humans of faith, believing the prophesy of The Messiah who would come to redeem them from death. Being faithful, they were not guilty of spiritual adultery, they worshipped only one God, and were never defiled by spiritual whoredoms.

Every faithful saint will inherit the new earth, after this heaven and earth have passed away. Once Satan is destroyed when Christ comes the second time, his destruction is complete and forever. There will not be another one thousand years on this earth when the seventh angel begins to sound that TIME for this earth shall be no more.

Though hell, hades, and Sheol are defined as the abode of the dead, or the grave, that is not consistently true throughout Scripture. We also find the Hebrew word géenna translated 'hell'. As you can see by the definition below the word translated 'hell' is associated with eternal fire, and everlasting punishment.

γέεννα géenna, gheh'-en-nah - of Hebrew origin (H1516 and H2011); valley of (the son of) Hinnom; ge-henna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment:—hell.

Christ consistently warned against the danger of "hell fire" when speaking of the danger of the judgment coming. Though inconsistent translation of hell causes confusion, it is not wrong to consistently interpret this for those who live and die without faith, and therefore without Christ as 'the dead' who go into the grave (hell) without hope. Man's fate is eternally sealed when dying without Christ, because they will be resurrected to damnation (lake of fire) at the judgment.

Without discussing the judgment of God against the wicked, I am convinced through the Scripture that hell, when defined as grave, or place of the dead, is just that. The place of the dead! The dead knowing nothing, those who go down into darkness and silence. When the body goes into the grave/hell the spirit in man returns to God who gave it. Then at the hour coming all of the dead will be resurrected either to life or damnation.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 (KJV) Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
