Every car battery company has a problem ....All car battery designs catch fire ....Sorry to burst the bubble ....Seimens and GE were on the cutting edge of car battery design before the likes of Tesla, Ford, Chevy or anyone else entered the fray ...Major components are constantly researched and designed, then sold as a product in a major introduction of new technolgy. EV's are a new technology for the car guys too.

Not to change the subject, but every Wind Tower has a distribution transformer at it's base ......Seimens, Iberdrola, GE and everyone else in the industry depends on Pauwels Transformer, Seimens, Cooper and GE to provide distribution transformers because they don't have the time or experience to design, test and manufacture. The same holds true with electric car batteries ...

EV's are not new technology it was invented before gas cars 1800"s. Cheap fossil fuels won out because it was cheap but cheap isn't always better, quite frankly cheap isn't better at all.

I don't hear about alot of windmills catching fire. Fires will happen but it's not some kind of disturbing level.

Wind Farms have multiple problems ....Just because you don't read about them, doesn't mean they don't exist. Governors failing, equals a turbine with a massive failure ....fire.... Then there is the issue with "Dirty Power" Harmonics, current, over and under voltage, anything that doesn't match what the utility demands within the ranges of the contract .....

By the way .... they make interesting fires when they occur.....A wind tower has a maintenece issue resembling an aircraft engine ....Fires are far from uncommon .... They are not the pinwheel you bought at KMart and stuck out the widow of Dad's car on the way home ....Wind Turbines turn tons of material to pitch the blades and get the properller turned into the wind ....They consume enourmous amounts of power to start the spin ....Look them up .....there are plenty of wind farm fires on you tube .....

This is based on 16 years at Beckwith Electric and 6 years at CG Power Systems selling wind and solar distribution transfomers ....My previous career before that? Construction management and sales ....14 years ....

I'm not shooting from the hip .....I've been 200 feet off the ground in the turbines .....hundreds of times.

Alot I agree but oil is a finite resource can't keep relying on something that will run out one day. The consensus is 47 yrs worth of proven reserves. Yes there might be unproven reserves left somewhere on earth but until there are some found its 47 years left of oil.

Oil is a earth renewable source ......It is not Dino buried under tons of earth .....Nature creates more oil daily ...Best thing to do is stop going to Disney World and traveling through the Land Of Energy ....... If the populace is not neck deep in the energy sector one has to literally pray that CNN, World News, AP someone tosses a one sentence headline to get the attention. The myth of finite fossil fuels, is exactly that, a myth ....

US has 850 years of coal. US has shale and other fuel beds not yet drilled and resourced. Coal can be converted to liquid fuel.

No one knows when oil will run out ..... Dig deeper and look for actual science, not the myth of Climate Change Agenda's

I developed and ran highly sucessful sales teams. Turned around the failures of four corporations and set them on the right track. Because I went to High School in Japan and had NO English speaking TV to deviate from reality .....We read, everything ....the only background noise being Armed Forces Radio and the record albums purchased at the base exchange. I still read, everything ...Computers make this easier and far more productive .....I had to anticpate and project based on the reality of the economy .....This means I calculated and determined profit and strategic processes ......building transformers is a continual battle because of the price of steel, Copper and oil....

By the time the earth runs out of fossil fuel ..... technology should be poised to introduce a cheaper more effiecient means of propulsion .....Drop dead timelines based on myth are an insult to common sense ..... Only camp followers march lock step over the cliff .....

The key? Do not depend on wind and solar to produce the electric power to make this work ....The reality is nuclear, not the wind and sun.
Even the Climate Cult has finally realized the only way to do what they demand, requires nuclear .....

I understand your smart, that also hampers learning. Because you think you know what all the truth on oil is and no one can tell you differently. What it means is that you divert to insult because you are too lazy to do the research yourself. Because of your laziness, you are prone to following the crowd and depending on others to do the work for you. Try actually conducting some research first and avoid becoming a member of the cult ....It will serve you better .... over all ....The Internet is an amazing device ....try using it for once ....

Really I don't trust any side of the coin. But who isn't tired of oil changes, air filters, spark plugs, wires, check engine light on cost 300 bucks to replace a 10 dollar sensor. I've been driving gas cars for 40 yrs im over it.

If a Electric car is not a slot car ...The cost to send an EV to the hospital will be far more than either of us going in for a new battery to our pace maker ....After all .....there is a method to the madness ....

I pull parts to my 2020 car all the time, walk into NAPA or Advanced and order a new part ....Tell them all the time ....Us old time shade tree mechanics can fix almost anything once we get nailed a few times by a kid with a computer in a car dealership ....

My 1970 GTO doesn't need some hot shot telling me what needs to be done .....As long as I don't light myself up like Jay Leno just did...Dad was a stock car driver in Alabama until he went into the Air Force. Got him under my Camaro one time to replace the pressure plate to the clutch .....dropped the transmission on his hand ....Came out using a few choice words, then told me "I drove, I didn't work on them." He never went underneath the car with me again ....

If what Penn State just announced holds true and passes the research and devolopment phase ......We may be on to something. Just as solar has a heat problem, becoming less efficient as heat builds within the panel ...So does current car batteries .....However, changethe design of the battery along with the materials used, making a smaller battery needing a ten minute charge and increasing the range of that charge ....Look for a grand leap forward in car battery technology. How does a ten minute charge with a range of say several thousand miles sound?

Again, If Penn State research is correct, it passes muster in tests and makes a less expensive battery design, smaller in weight and more important than all else combined ......eliminates dependence on China for the materials ....Penn State gets the gold star ....Boys better be writing volumes in their patent books .....
