In Luke, there is a passage where Jesus says to be his disciple, we must hate even our own lives.

Even though my life is as good as it can possibly be, all I know right now is that I hate that I can't be in heaven with Jesus right now.

When I think about the world and how messed up it is, or even about my own life and how I just feel a sense of loss being on earth, I just want to translate straight into heaven and meet the Lord.

If you can relate, Id love to know. Do you think this is what it means to hate our life on earth?

Hi Wynona,
Funny how my eyes settled right on this thread. I was only just now thinking about how not one thing in this world satisfies in any way. I ask God all the time "Will today be the day Lord? In my case, I probably hate just being "alive" in it. It is so frustrating to want to speak with others about Christ but since not leaving the house for such long periods of time, no chance to do that also, no true friends to speak of anymore...never thought it would be so almost impossible to make Christian friends through the church.
I don't think God want's us to think this way though- (“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.” (John 17:11, 14–15.)- Now a days, keeping from evil people is def impossible and their ears are closed.
So, you I and probably most other Christians would much rather be with Him than here...can't happen soon enough.
Good thoughts sister.

I'm sorry you're going through that Nancy. Do you mind if I inbox you from time to time to ask how you are doing or how your day went?

I know it's not the same as a real life friend but Id be happy to do that.

I can relate. It’s not our forever home. And it’s hard to see so much of what we have to see here. And He’s taken our hearts to Him. They no longer belong to the world. How could they? It’s when we get older that we see only insufficiency in the world everywhere we look. When we’re younger, we don’t see it. We follow what the world says we must do to be happy. The marriage, the dog, the children, the vacations, a house, a bigger house, better cars. At some point, hopefully, we see that none of those things make us happy or fill us and most of them do the opposite and make us anxious and miserable. So we begin to wonder what the point of it all is.

When God calls us to Him, all the insufficiency and brokenness of the world doesn’t go away. In fact, we see it more and so we cling to it less. We no longer go after it. We see we don’t need all the things the world tells us we do. We begin to see they were all just distractions, busy brickmaking designed to keep us from God.

Yeah, but....

Being willing to lay down your life for Jesus also means being willing to take the risk of stepping out the house, even if it means you might stumble and fall. I never liked the Parable of the Talents, but we can't bury our "talent" in the ground. We just have to trust that if we stumble, He'll pick us up.

Totally true, the older we get the more God shows us the dung pile we used to just love to play in. Hey, you forgot the white picket fence :D

Yes bro, that is what is frustrating. I am NOT someone who is going to stand on a street corner handing out tracks to litter the area. I am a one on one kind of person, especially when concerning the things of Christ. Just don't know where to go bro. The Genesis Center has changed so much but, still go there right now only for 4 hours on a Thursday and, not many people there like pre covid. One of my sisters and I pray and sing songs over the phone daily. We both are seeking a church but, she is a good 45 minutes away from me in the hills so we don't see one another often enough. I am about to call my youngest sister soon to see if she would like to join us. We pray scripture, give thanks and worship. We NEVER run out of people and situations to pray and then thank Him for His working in that situation or person.
Still, would be nice to have a nice group of Christian friends...I turn down parties when the secular folks at the Center have them at their houses, not all of them because it IS an opportunity but, sometimes my spirit does not want to go.

Wynona,

Hating our own lives, is talking about our old life that we perhaps had before we ever met with the Lord Jesus Christ, always remember that He gives us new life, and we become a new creation through faith in the Lord who makes us right with God in which we can have peace while we traverse in this life. Patience to walk through this world, is most likely honorable to God to walk humbly before our Creator and knowing that God is with you, and it is also good to remember that though Darkness still exist in this world even in our own hearts which is broken and overridden by the Lord Jesus who is the Light of the World. And God through Christ has reconciled the world unto himself, and may you always remember that God is with you, by his spirit, which He pours out into your heart.

Keep looking to Jesus in Faith, in which overcomes this world. ( Remember who was it Peter who started looking around and stopped focusing on Jesus, which lead him to falling into the water. Jesus was there to raise him up again).

May all be encouraged.

Maybe God wants you more isolated for now Nancy. Maybe He wants you still and not busy. As for handing out tracts, I question the efficacy of it until we have power.

My mind is furiously working on how to do it and keep four dogs separated so you could stay here instead of a hotel room! (Are your two doggies still with you?) What month would it likely be in? Are you kidding?? I would love to be able to hug you and touch you and truly sit down with you rather than just video chats! I’ve often thought about asking if I could come visit YOU!

God Created and Made ManKIND out of ManKINDS own intended Habitat.
Our “Habitat” is fully established to sustain the LIFE of the ManKind of thing.
~ Meaning the manKind of thing, IS a Body.
~ Meaning the manKind of thing’s LIFE, IS it’s BLOOD.

“Sustaining the Life of the Man, IS that which is IN the man, and that which is IN the earth.” (Minerals, nutrients, etc.)

Without the minerals, nutrients FROM the Earth, a mans body will die.
And quietly easily we see, men without minerals, nutrients FROM the Earth, diseases, body organs breaking down, LIFE, (Blood) of the Body failing to sustain, Blood stops flowing, Heart stops beating, Bodily Death.

No matter IF a manKind of thing, bodily lives a minute or a hundred years...The Body WILL break down and Die...The Earth has become corrupted...And the Earth being the sustainer of a BODY...by default the Body becomes corrupted and Dies.

God has given Every Naturally Born Body.....a SOUL. It’s Life is Gods Breath.
That SOUL, activates (jump starts so to speak)...The senses.
Meaning -
* A body is CREATED with Ears...
With a soul the Ears are MADE to Hear...
* CREATED flesh
* MADE to feel touch
* CREATED eyes
* MADE to see
* CREATED tongue
* MADE to speak
* CREATED nose
* MADE to smell

The SOUL, allows the BODY, to experience God.
Gods Handiwork’s, Truth, Knowledge, Power, Beauty, etc.

Inanutshell - as a Human man, we have freewill.
We can Full well learn, know, accept, (or reject) the Earth, the Body, the Seed of man, the Blood of man, IS Spiritually Corrupt.

Some men choose to REJECT...the Earth, body, seed, blood of man IS Spiritually Corrupt. They gravitate toward Carnal, Physical, Tangent ideals of Men can FIX any issues that arise.
THESE ARE CALLED.....OF the WORLD.

Some men choose to ACCEPT...the Earth, body, seed, blood of man IS Spiritually Corrupt. The gravitate toward Spiritual ideals of God is the FIXER of ALL issues.
THESE ARE CALLED.....IN the WORLD, but not OF the WORLD.

Men OF the World promote Men’s “solutions” to “issues” OF the World.
Men IN the World, but not OF the world promote God’s “solutions” to “issues” OF the World.

That ^^ “promotion” broadly can be surface overlooked.
Meaning ~ THE “WHY” is important, but often not mentioned.

So, say for example a person says....truckers (transporting long haul vegetables), exhaust fumes are a health hazard, we should make laws those trucking companies should PAY more TAXES, to compensate for us being exposed to health hazards.
Ya, Ya, Ya, .....WHAT?

Collecting MONEY, will make a person healthier?
Well no, BUT, Money will make a person becoming ill have advantage to prove to the Govt. they should qualify for “freebie” treatment of having become ill.
Ya, Ya, Ya, ....WHAT?
Isn’t it the gov’t’s position to encourage long haul vegetables, imports, etc. ? Ya BUT!! <—- OF the World, example.

Then, say for example a person says....Gods says, take care of your own, grow, eat, local. He knows your needs. He sees your efforts, He can heal your land, He controls the weather, the sun shining, the rain falling.... <—- IN the World, but not OF the World, example.

We that are IN the World, and co-exist with others OF the World,
ARE they, that can HATE the “OUTER” circumstances,
YET, be fully Content, at rest, at peace, in Joy, with our “INNER” circumstances, ( A SAVED soul), that no man can TAKE or UNDERMINE or CORRUPT.

Rom 12:
[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

John 17:
[14] I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Glory to God,

The thing to ask yourself, IS WHY does God WANT YOU ON EARTH right now?

Inanutshell ...
You IN Heaven, would satisfy your desire to be VOID of Earthy Corruption.
You ON Earth, gives you access to SERVE God in a manner that may aid ONE person to hear, and MAYBE become added to Gods “inheritance”.

Just saying, consider a different perspective...you’re an Asset to God and your Service unto God is not yet finished.

Glory to God,

Dying to your old self is just that, hating the worldly ways. We grow to hate sin all around and particularly in us. I can't wait ... but I will. Paul also desired to be with Christ, but remained to fulfill his purpose as we will … until it is time.

For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. Phil. 1:23-24

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, ” 2 Cor. 5:1-2

I believe that True Followers of Christ are meant to suffer greatly.
2 Timothy 3:12
1 Peter 2:21

It is one of the Fail-safes that God installed in His plan so that we do not mix with the fallen world much and is a textbook refutation of many of the Word of Faith heresies that are so popular right now; like the teaching that God wants us healthy and happy always and as Christians that is what we deserve.

That is anything but Biblical and it is snaring so many unstudied/uneducated in Scripture Christians today. Those with desperate hope in their hearts for things to go well with them and for their lives to be returned to a state of joy, health and happiness cannot let go of teachings like this and will 100% forsake the Truth for False Teachings such as this.

"There is no peace without suffering; the greater the suffering, the greater the peace."
-Unknown

This quote is not directly from Scripture, but it seems to align with the teachings of God's Word.

We must brace ourselves for this reality and hold fast to our faith as things become more and more difficult in this life. Our best life is NOT in this world. It is in the life yet to come.

God bless.

I recently did a thread on near death experiences that were positive. There are negative near death experiences but I didn't want to focus on that.

What I was trying to do is see what people were saying that visited the spiritual heaven to see what it was like for them. Basically I wanted a more in-depth view on eye witness accounts of what heaven was like for them. If you're interested in that I put it here: Experiences from Heaven: It features an interview with someone who has interviewed over 120 people so it is summarized in that video that is 23 mins long. It was interesting. Some of the members here are skeptic of the accounts. And I'm not denying or saying they have to be true. But it was interesting.

While we're are supposed to keep our minds focused on heavenly things. God brings heaven to earth and desires us to be part of that. The Lord's prayer is reflective of that fact. "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven". And the sheep and goats section of Matthew 25:31-46 points out that we should be doing God's will down here like in heaven. And you appear to be part of that from the posts you've supplied on this forum. Good job! Keep up the good work!
