Out of curiosity, how many people here want to learn, and how many people here already know everything there is to know?

There was a time I seemed to learn something from everybody I knew.
Agreed. When I'm reading my bible 90 % of the time its as a student to learn and be taught by God. The other time its usually to look up scriptures on a topic of study for apologetic purposes.

That is a great question, easy to assume the results of with a cross section of people, and I too join you in your frustration.

But break up that cross section into groups of like persons, and it would be the same until you came to that group the scriptures refer to as "the prophets of God."

The exception is not the rule...except with God.

I don't think prophets know everything, and I would think they would be humble enough to admit that.

True.

The problem I was referring to is rather that of discounting truth from God "here a little, there a little"--the voice of one crying in the wilderness, due to the overwhelming amount of untruth.

We have one teacher, I believe the Bible says. If we are diligent in carrying out his will in our lives, I think the truth becomes clearer.

I not only want to learn, I’m continually learning.

Just out of curiosity, did you have a percentage figure in mind, an expectation, of those who will say they want to learn vs. those who will say they already know everything there is to know?

I figured most of us are smart enough to know that we don't know everything yet. As for answering the question, "How many here want to learn?" I'm have my doubts everyone would give an honest answer.

I don't think prophets know everything, and I would think they would be humble enough to admit that.

And a TRUE PROPHET would do exactly that. A "Prophet", who is manifesting the Gift of prophesy (in any of its many forms) is Simply PASSING THROUGH what the Holy Spirit is bringing into His mind.

If the "prophet" is adding, out of his own thoughts and beliefs, anything to the message he speaks, then He's a FALSE PROPHET
, and dismissed as being worthless.

Folks like Harold Camping, or Edgar Whisnant would fit here. They failed the simplest test - i.e. they SPOKE, and it didn't come to pass.

I would think a true prophet wouldn't call himself a prophet - he would let others do that for him.

I've already learned a lot from these forums over the years I've been on them. Now there's not too much more to learn except church history and denomination history, etc (which I'm really not interested in). I know what my beliefs are and people aren't going to change that now.

That would mean you've found a lasting peace. How did you do that?
