Hello everyone,

I’m 18 years old, and I’ve never had a girlfriend. I really desire to find someone who loves God, follows Him wholeheartedly, and will love me and be loyal. My dream is to have a relationship that lasts for a lifetime, centered on faith. I’ve had the chance to talk to two girls who claimed to be Christian—they read the Bible and presented themselves as believers—but unfortunately, things didn’t work out with either of them.

I’m at a point in my life where I feel a bit lost. I’m trying my best to grow closer to Jesus and live according to His teachings, but when it comes to love and relationships, I’m full of questions. I really want to know what the Bible says about these things. How should I approach finding a partner? What should I do or not do? Is it okay to pray for a partner who looks or acts like someone I know, or is that wrong? I know that sounds like it might be, but I’m asking out of curiosity.

I also wonder if I’m even ready for a relationship yet. I’ve heard people say that maybe I don’t have a godly woman in my life because I’m not yet worthy of one. If that’s the case, how do I prepare myself? How do I know if I’ve met the right person or if there’s someone out there who is my “soulmate”? Should I even be thinking about this at my age, or should I focus on other things?

There are so many questions I have about love, marriage, and God’s plan for my future. I want to have a beautiful Christian family one day, but I also want to walk according to God’s will. What advice do you have for me, and how can I trust God’s timing and purpose for my life in this area?

I’m grateful for any wisdom you can share with me.

Thank you!

There's a proverb I like, Proverbs 24:27: "Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house." Essentially, it means first things first. Personally, I think you should focus on other things right now--an education, a career or a trade. Women like guys who have ambition; those who have something going for them and have a plan for their future. They want someone who can contribute and can support a family; doing that isn't cheap these days. If you do that, I think you'll find good women will set their sites on you and you'll have plenty to pick from. Best wishes.

Thank you for reaching out.

One question is, “Where does one find young women with beliefs similar to mine?”

Possibilities: by attending churches and participating in their mission work. Also, charities in your area. So: look for opportunities in charity work you will also enjoy and find rewarding.

When you meet young women, be gentle as you get to know them. Be sure to focus your attention on what they enjoy doing; you do not need to brag about your work—remember to stay humble.

In other words, no matter who you are with, remember to live your faith—by sharing & caring, being kind & gentle, etc.

And of course, ask for God’s help in your prayers.

Our best wishes in your search for a loving spouse.

Believe it or not it really is kind of simple. Just keep growing into the man of God He wants you to be. He is working on your future wife to make her the woman He wants her to be.; Be busy about your Fathers business and He will bring her to your side!

Keep growing and preparing you rlife to be the provider and spiritual man of God. God said He desires a mate for all!

I’ve heard people say that maybe I don’t have a godly woman in my life because I’m not yet worthy of one.
Don't listen to those who make cruel judgements like this.

Basic advice, talk to people, other guys, other girls, couples, the elderly etc.
Be friendly to all in your church at school/college or at work.
You will quickly see those who are only being polite before disengaging, other will stay and chat, while a few will actually enjoy talking with you.
It is these that you take it further by suggesting going for a coffee/meeting for a coffee at some other time.
Depending how that goes suggest meeting for a date.

Take it slow, you want to build a friendship that grows into a deeper relationship.
One important thing is once actually dating, meeting weekly or every other week depending on circumstances.
Church involvement is important for you both.
If she is not a Christian, then invite her to attend your church each week.
If attending a different church, arrange between you how to alternate attendance.

Been reading some blogs about Christian dating recently about how to find single Christians who have a faith as passionate as mine and I think this is actually pretty decent advice. What do you think about Christian dating apps?

Thank you for the question.

My knowledge of the efficacy of any dating app is zero!

Perhaps some of them have on-line reviews to help. You might try one of the better ones to see for yourself.

Local relationships have a lot going for them, as opposed to someone many hours away you met through an app.

Perhaps time to ask for God’s help? Time to pray for advice and inspiration?

Our best wishes to you, who are the future of a culture based on the great commandments.
