Teaching authority of the Apostles and their successors founded in the one true church by Jesus Christ!

Jesus Christ is the head of the church, (eph 5:23) the body of Christ,
(col 1:18) the new and eternal covenant, (pre-figured Jer 31:31) (Heb 8:8) new covenant replaces the Mosaic covenant, (Heb 8:13) holy mother church replaced Israel Matthew 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Christ replaces David as king, (Lk 1:32-33) Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and men, (1 Tim 2:5 & Heb 12:24) but a mediator remains on earth mediating between God and His people, but Christ ascended to heaven, (acts 1) before He did He founded His church, on Peter, and the apostles, and their successors!

We are not commanded to read and make doctrine for ourselves but obey those who God puts in authority to teach the Christian Faith!

As I said in the other thread, the Bible says that the Apostles, together with Christ, formed the foundation for the Church. This was not the beginning of a universal organization or theocracy, but rather, the start of an international outreach to create a people of God, united by their common faith in Christ, and united by their common participation in the Spirit of Christ. By Christ's work *alone* we have redemption, the forgiveness of our sins, and a new nature through which we participate in the life and virtue of Christ.

Since Jesus gathered 12 Disciples around him, to carefully transmit his teaching without error, we can rely on the writings of the
Apostles and on the writings of those who spoke with the Apostles in positions of leadership, like Paul and James, the brother of Jesus. Actually, James, if he was indeed the brother of Jesus, had a front row seat, perhaps even better than the Apostles--he grew up with Jesus! ;)

So we have handpicked men, capable of transmitting the teachings of Jesus in pure form. This is so that the Church, throughout the ages of international evangelism, does not lose the purity of Jesus' teaching.

Just as the Law governed Israel in the truth, preserved in writing, so we have the letters of the Apostles and of the NT authors so that whenever we stray, and we do indeed stray, we can go back to the NT letters to self-correct. God did this for us, to keep us pure as His holy people. If you can't see this, you're willfully blind--I trust that is not the case?

Nobody said "Bible only." What they've said is that it is the central and critical authority in all doctrinal matters. And it's true. God's word was preserved in writing for just this reason. And yes, often God did tell the biblical authors to commit their works to writing for future generations.

1 Cor 10.11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.

If you can't trust God's word, whose word are you going to trust--that of Man? Man is subject to his Sin Nature, and to error. We need God's word, written down as Scripture, so that we can self-correct, and receive the help that God intended to give us.

But once you understand that the Bible is not an ordinary book but the Word of God (divine revelation) all your questions will be answered. However, the Bible does not say that you can make up your own doctrine of salvation. Instead, the Bible presents the true Gospel of God, so that all may hear the Gospel and be saved by grace through faith.

Therefore all one has to do is look at just one passage of Scripture to discovers that the Bible itself is sufficient for all purposes, including salvation:

And that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly [thoroughly] furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

So what do you learn from this passage? That all your questions have been addressed right here. Time to move on.
