Hello,
Your very soul is God-given. As God had made Adam (mankind) from the dust of the earth he breathed into him, and he became a living soul.
What's is significant about this? In my view, and opinion. When we came out of the womb, we were given the breath of life just as well as when Adam was created. The thing is about us, is while as an infant, until we can really know anything and understand. Infants that pass away I believe personally go on to be with God. When it comes down to us learning and knowing, that is when we really start to make choices, and it starts at an early age when start to walk, and when mom and dad tell us what is not good for us to do. What is significant about the soul, is that while we are in this body, and we can not see our soul it is basically our heart. Just as when God spoke his Word to create light, he was speaking from his heart, and thus the Word "created light." Our soul is what encompasses our mind/will/emotions within ourselves, and it's very important in learning that what we feed into it, we typically become. For a long time I fed my mind/will/emotions - with the onset of drugs, but not all this, lying, cheating, manipulation, discord, greed, jealousy. All of these things came natural. The only time when it started to change is when I started to feed it with the things of God. I suppose that is why Jesus said this.
See what the world offers, is the worldly ways. Our soul takes in naturally from birth. When a child is taking a toy from another child, that is called jealousy, "it's mine not yours, and then the kid pushes the child down, or runs away." Leaving the other child, crying. Not to say this child wont do something spiteful, they may come up and hit the other child, and take the toy back.
These are all natural processes, of our soul, our heart, like I stated at the start, I believe that God is more lenient towards children, than he would be with a full grown adults (excluding - those whom are brain damaged with disabilities and such) who are fully able to take care of themselves.
The natural processes are simply shared, by Paul in a message he sent to Galatians, and also explained by Jesus.
Ultimately, seemingly to suggest that while our fleshly bodies will eventually tire out and given back up what was God-given in the first place, it will be assessed, and given according to how God judges. It seems he has two places for people. Jesus speaks about a resurrection of Condemnation, and a Resurrection of life, and Paul, and the writer of Hebrews both speaks of a better resurrection which is better than the normal.
What is interesting, about what Paul states to the people in Philippi is that "That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings." Uh-oh! Sufferings? Fellowship of? His sufferings? In order to obtain the resurrection of the dead.
Sufferings. Good golly G! That is horrible, who wants to go about life suffering. Well, It's something Paul desired, and I believe these sufferings, are similar to the sufferings that Jesus Christ went through, for the Kingdom. Loving God, and loving others, is insufferable, or intolerable for us to do in the flesh. Remember the two children fighting? That is us, by nature of our soul, within the fleshly body that learns about this world through physical means.
So whats the answer? To suffer with Christ and pick up our own cross and bear our own burdens and abide in him it seems like. That is what Jesus must have meant when he stated.
Do we truly have to hate our father, mother, wife, and children, brothers and sisters? No, but we do not submit to them in the fashion that we do towards God. It's good to listen to mom and dad, but when you grow up, you have to make your own decisions. To feed oneself by the fleshly means, (which all of us have to do when it comes to food, having shelter, and a roof over our heads its a choice to work for these things), the fleshly means I am talking about are the greed, the jealous, the grudges, the hatred for others in the sense of disdain, some people even wish death upon others, these extremes are what I am talking about. Here is the answer.
Looking towards God in faith, in the Lord Yeshua, who died, was buried, and risen again, and looking towards him and what he has done, with ultimately change a persons heart, being born again by the spirit. Notice I said the heart changes, our (soul becomes fed with the things of God, which come from the Spirit given to us by God.)
What are the tribulations that we experience, heart break, misunderstanding, being treated unfairly, all while loving God and loving others. I don't believe it something to just seek out by righteous indignation, but it will come about when it's done by abiding in Christ, and building the spiritual person up within you, in which He is able to help us by his strength. Love God, and Love others.
Im not saying we will be perfect but he will be perfect in us, though our flesh will fail, we know were we can stand in the face of all these troubles. "At peace with God" - within our God-given soul, that chooses to put God first, over the things the world itself can give us.
Do you see how valuable God sees you? He loves you and cares for you, and his Son died, and was risen again by the Holy Spirit for you to have newness of life in and through him. Giving a rebirth of the spiritual deadness of the soul we have within us, which is God-given.
We become united with Christ, being born again in the spiritual means, which overlay among the flesh, which the soul has a change of heart (a changed direction in the mind/will/emotions.)

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Jesus shared in a quote from Mark 7: 15 It’s not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.”
Paul shared a similar notion, Galatians 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Jesus states founded in John 5:29 and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.
Paul states to the people of Philippi, Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Hebrews 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

Founded in the Gospel of Luke you can find Jesus stating Luke 14:“If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.
Do we truly have to hate our father, mother, wife, and children, brothers and sisters? No, but we do not submit to them in the fashion that we do towards God. Founded in the writing of Paul to the Romans in chapter 5 we see him say, Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces [b]perseverance; 4 and perseverance, [c]character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Founded in John, Jesus states 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Im not saying we will be perfect but he will be perfect in us, though our flesh will fail, we know were we can stand in the face of all these troubles. "At peace with God" - within our God-given soul, that chooses to put God first, over the things the world itself can give us.
Paul wrote to the people in Galatians 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Do you see how valuable God sees you? He loves you and cares for you, and his Son died, and was risen again by the Holy Spirit for you to have newness of life in and through him. Giving a rebirth of the spiritual deadness of the soul we have within us, which is God-given.
Paul wrote to the people in Romen concerning this saying 6: For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
We become united with Christ, being born again in the spiritual means, which overlay among the flesh, which the soul has a change of heart (a changed direction in the mind/will/emotions.)
