Reading Hebrews 10:9, I was referred to Psalm forty, and found the words from which Hebrews 10:9 was quoted,
'Then said I, "Lo, I come:
in the volume of the book it is written of me,
I delight to do Thy will, O my God:
yea, Thy law is within my heart.'
( Psalm 40:7-8)
* Christ came to be the all-sufficient sacrifice for sin, according to the will of God the Father. By which WILL 'we' are sanctified,
* How wonderful to see God's will portrayed like this. How assured and confident we should be, in the salvation that He has procured for us, by Jesus Christ. His will and His work is wonderful to behold. What love it reveals!
* Reading the Psalm once again, it is the Messiah's prayer and praise in view of future blessing. Yet there is one verse which trips me up each time I read it, and it is verse 12, '... mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me' - These words are Messiah's words, yet He was without iniquity, so I am stopped in my tracks. Then looking in the Bible marginal notes, I am told that there is a figure of speech being used here,(metonymy - of cause), whereby the word 'iniquities' is put for the punishment it incurs. It was the weight of our iniquities that He bore, it was our iniquities that prevented Him looking up, it was they which were more than the hairs of His head, which caused His heart to fail within Him!
* See Isaiah 53.
* These are our blessed Saviours words, in prayer to the Father, while enduring the cross for our sake's, taking the penalty of our sins upon Himself, that we may be reconciled to the Father, and receive His gift of eternal life, 'in Him'.
* Like Thomas our hearts cry must be:- 'My Lord, and My God!'

(Psalm 23:1-6)
* In this psalm human action is attributed to God - 'Thou anointest my head with oil' (which is a figure of speech called - 'anthropopatheia')
* The words, 'The Lord is my Shepherd' is a figure of speech. It is a 'metaphor'; and in it a great and blessed truth is set forth by the representation of Jehovah as a Shepherd. It is He who tends his People, and does more for them than any earthly shepherd does for his sheep. All His titles and attributes are so bound up with this care that in this Psalm we have the illustration of all the the Jehovah titles:-
In (v.1) 'I shall not want,' because He is Jehovah-jireh (Genesis 22:14), and will provide.
In (v.2) 'He leadeth me beside the waters' of quietness (margin), because He is Jehovah-shalom (Judges 6:24), and will give peace.
In (v.3) 'He restoreth my soul,' for He is Jehovah-rophecha (Exodus 15:26), and will graciously heal.
In (v.3) 'He guides me in the paths of righteousness,' for He is Jehovah-tzidkenu (Jeremiah 23:6), and is Himself my righteousness,
In (v.4) In death's dark valley 'Thou art with me', for Thou art Jehovah-shammah (Ezekiel 48:35), and the Lord is there.and I am righteous in Him (Jeremiah 33:16)
In (v.5) 'Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies,' for Thou art Jehovah-nissi (Exodus 17:15). my banner,
In (v.5) 'Thou anointest my head with oil', for Thou art Jehovah-mekaddeschem (Exodus 32:13, etc.,) the Lord that sanctifieth me.and will fight for me, while I feast.
In (v.6) 'Surely' all these blessings are mine for time and eternity, for He is Jehovah-rohi (Psalm 23:1), Jehovah my Shepherd, pledged
* This was taken from 'Figures of Speech found in Scripture' by Dr E.W. Bullinger.to raise me up from the dead, and to preserve and bring me 'through' the valley of death into His glorious kingdom (John 6:39).

Reminds me of: 1 Corinthians 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
