favorite psalm today. “...and fills thee with the finest of the wheat.”

Well I guess my favorite is
Psalm 23 :1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Yea pretty vanilla lol
I do have many others but that is my favorite. It’s very comforting.
I do love Psalm 119 . Don’t worry I won’t paste it here .
It’s cool it goes thru the Hebrew alphabet singing praise for God’s instruction to His people.

But here's one that stirs my heart
Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
though the earth give way and
the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad The City of God,
the Holy Place Where The Most High dwells.
5 God is within her,
she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
He lifts His voice, and the earth melts.
7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the LORD has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
He burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be Still, And Know That I AM GOD;
I will be Exalted among the nations,
I will be Exalted in the earth.”
11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
The GOD of Jacob IS Our Fortress!

Ahh....I did not know that. "A mighty fortress " is one of my favorites also, say what you want of Luther , he was not a perfect man, but when I read those lyrics I knew Luther had the Truth revealed to him and that he battled against the cosmic forces of wickedness in high places & knew it. It will be an honor to meet him one day.

I like what Luther said to Melanchthon: "Always preach in such a way that, if the hearers do not come to hate their own sin, they will hate you instead".

These old preachers who preached the Word rigorously really took their task seriously before the Lord. (Yes, Luther also said some strange things sometimes.)

That is a great quote-thanks! Yes they were a blessed bunch of God-fearing men. Men who feared God & didn't worry about being despised of men.

* Man knows 'gladness of heart' when 'their corn and their wine' increases: however, the source of David's 'gladness of heart' was the Lord His God, and did not depend on outward circumstances, even in the face of the goading of his enemies, who said, 'Who will shew them any good'. For God had 'lifted up His countenance' upon David and all who, like Him, were the subjects of God's grace.

In Acts 13, the context makes clear a reference to the Resurrection in 'this day have I begotten Thee'.
