WHen I was young (22) I lived in Columbus Ohio but as soon as I started having kids (she got pregnant), we married and then moved to Colorado for 30 years. We didnt want to raise our kids in COlumbus, too much drama, too many gangs and stuff. Columbus was (is?) a bad scene.

But I was young and had the eorld by the tail. When we got Colorado Springs and were still in a motel, I remember saying, this is my town. Watch what I do here babe...and I wound up learning HVAC and one year two weeks into the new year I got laid off. (They usually wait until a couple weeks after Christmas to do layoffs so they dont seem like Scrooge and from two weeks before Christmas to tax time is the slow time of the year). So I had 5 years so far of HVAC experience working with usually busy companies. And I wondered if I could pass the Contractors test. I figured it had to be a hard test and I'd prolly fail it. But I would have my score on the test and so would know how close I was to passing it!

So I took the test and I smoked it! I got a 93 on it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, or else I'm just a good test taker, lol. So shazam, we went in business. that was 1994. It went to the Mechanical Committee and they did grant me a license. And I remembered watching my dad at his Plumbing business after school and he lways said, if you do good work the money takes care of itself...(Good advice!) So I approached it with that perspective and it turned out just like my dad said. I kept getting busier and busier. When I got too busy I raised prices instead of hiring more people. I built that business up to a 6 figure business and life was good for us! I remember telling my Wife one day, you see? I did it! and I was so proud of myself. Look what I built baby! Need some more cash? Here....She had to agree. We had everything we needed and more. I had a wonderful Family, a nice established Business in the community, and a nice 4BR House (albeit renting, we was looking to buy when I accidently passed the test first try so it was either buy a house or go in Business and Business won).

I thought I was so smart. I did make msome mistakes that I recognize in retrospect. I was not the Spiritual Leader of my home. But I was too busy for God. I had to run this still and manage everything and I did wind up hiring two guys to help. (full time). I did not give glory to God for what He gave me. I had the respect of the world in what I had and was doing.

The Lord gives everyone Talent. Some get 5, some 2 and some one but everyone has been given talent(s) in this life. And one day we will stand in front of the Lord and He will say, so what did you do with the taknts, skills and oppurtunities that I gave you? And I thought I had done all that! (Yikes). I wasnt even paying tithes. And I realized that everything that I (had), had come from the Lord. I didnt do anything myself. I was a hearer and not a doer!

So if you have a young family and are raising kids with your Wife...keep this scripture in mind day to day:

Deuteronomy 8:10-15
It is a land where iron is as common as stone, and copper is abundant in the hills. 10 When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
11 “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today.
12 For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in,
13 and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful!
14 Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.
15 Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, .../NLT

The Lord gave you the skills to do your trade. The Lord gave you the Oppurtunities to conduct business and multiply everything for yourself, through Him (!!) and so this is a very important passage for those of you with young families. Do not become proud and forget your God!

Hindsight is 20/20 !! The Lord got tired of waiting on me so...let's just say the Lord chopped me down to size very quickly. Let me tell you, life can change overnight for you. It happened to me. Suddenly my life crumbled. The Lord hombled me because I would not humble myself. My wife of 26 years divorced me, the Business went away and all that goes with it (with her? lol). And I was still very carnal so I didnt have a clue what was happening. So after the divorce I did what any carnal man would do, I started chasing women (so to speak) and the Lord did not like that either. So He allowed me to come close to death knowing that I would reach out to Him then! (And I did). To top off all the other bad fortune that had come my way, I had a seizure at 70 mph on the highway and rolled my truck 3 times and broke my back in two places. But the Lord saved my life.

I spent 4 months recovering on my back to piece together what happened. And all these things began coming clear to me. I was such an idiot! I brought all this on myself! I wish I had read Dueturonomy 8 40 years ago.

Young men are charged with being the Spiritual Leader of the Home. I dont care if you married a Catholic girl and you argue about God. It doesnt relieve you of your respnsiblity because you was keepong the piece so kept your mouth shut about God and Jesus. The Lord will wait for you for only so long and He can chop your life down in an instant. Dont forget the Lord.

Young women are charged to be humble and submissive to their Husbands. I dont care what the feminist world thinks. I'm just saying this is what the Lord God thinks.

Don't forget the Lord in everything you do, every day.

Thank you for your confession and lessons learned.

So many of us can say, with you: “I was an idiot! I brought all this on myself.”
(A great paraphrase of the prodigal son’s confession!)

But, as you have repented and given yourself over to God, He will forgive you unconditionally (although ripples from your former life might well always be with you—2 Samuel 12).

May you have abundant life and hope for the future.

After the Lord saved my life I started taking things a lot more seriously. I got saved when I was about 12 or so but backslid into girls a couple years later. I knew I owed the Lord my life and rededicated myself to Him. And I have remained serious about the Lord ever since then (2009).

And it was kind of funny but one time I was talking to the Lord and I said, Lord I'm sorry I wasted so much of my life. Where would I be right now if I had remained with you and not backslid all that time.

...And He answered me instantly and said, right where you are now.
That blew my mind at the time but I get it now. It was my wife, she had to go. She commanded all of my time and if she had stayed I might have never gone back to the Lord. She was the center of my life...where Jesus should have been.

So even bad things work together for good for those who love God and put Him first. Which I do now, so mission accomplished Lord! Praise the Lord she is gone now.

It is sooo peaceful here! I love it.

Reminds me of someone I went to high school with who said he was thinking of becoming a priest. I told him that I was too much into women to do that.

Being raised a Catholic, I didn’t even think about Protestant ministry.

Women, and men are equal. Its egotism to value one self above another.
Acts chapter 3. God poured his Spirit on both men and women. Daughters shall teach Gods word.

Philip had four virgin daughters who were teachers of God's word, as written in gospel of Acts.

In judges, Deborah was leader of Israel and Teacher. God does use women !!

Moses had disability and God used him.

Pride is dangerous. God uses both Men and women.

Titus chapter 3. To mark fellow Christian who is Heretick, if they refuse to hear the truth, and admonition.

If they won't listen. Reject the person as Heretick. Seeing there self condemned.

Ignorance is not a excuse.

1 Timothy chapter 6

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some professed , and in so doing have departed from the Faith.

To value one self above another Christian is dangerous. Its pride and ignorance.

Body of Christ is unity. We work together to honor God, and utilize our gifts and abilities.
Body of Christ has different functions.

One maybe good at making money and donates to the poor. Good works.

Some are teachers.

Some are evangelist.

Some volunteer in soup kitchen.

Good works.

Egotism and pride has no place in body of Christ. We edify. Not tear down.

Peace.
