The seeking is what we are always to do first. When do we stop seeking these things? Perhaps when we are really just like Him...
I would love to seek the things of God, and not the things of men. I still crave acceptance from people.

How is our vision of Him? Have we moved beyond "through a glass darkly" toward "face to face?
I still wonder if seeing through the glass darkly is being yet blind towards Christ in another. Where a veil remains between two fighting who can’t see that which is unseen in each another. But when the veil is removed —taken out of the way—two brothers see face to face in Christ. For example when Saul couldn’t see Christ in Stephen but when the veil was removed, Stephen was one of Paul’s brothers whom he consented to his death. That had to be eyeopening, “I killed a brother.”
At each moment in our walk do we not want to be content as Paul was inspired to write here?

Php 4:11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Love the above. And also Philippians 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
To be both abased and abounding Reminds me of:John 3:30 He must increase(abound), but I must decrease(be abased).

I get everyone sees it differently but that is the only way I know to be both abased and abounding.
Are we asking for only what God knows that we need? Do we know now what we need or are we still including carnal wants in our requests or what we are seeking?
I want brotherly kindness.
I don’t want to fake it.
Are we still blind in part or do we see as clearly as God sees? What are we lacking? What are we asking for? What are we seeking?
It easy to lack brotherly kindness. I can fake it. You can’t fake the kind of brotherly kindness displayed in the word where one who possesses all things, yet becomes poor that another be made rich. Or where one becomes weak, for another to made strong.
One difference between Jesus and other men was that Jesus was not selfish. Other men, all of us, have been and
perhaps continue to be selfish.
No kidding. Self…seeking. I can relate. Selfishness is in me. I don’t doubt that.

"Work" out your own salvation is simply better understood as: Walk out your own salvation.
Amen, I agree. Walking it out, walking in what the Lord has done and is doing in our life/heart. Need to look at the whole passage and context there to see what Paul is exhorting. It’s the Greek word katergazomai that is being translated as “work out”…..anyone can look it up themselves, but it means to perform, to do, to accomplish, achieve. I get the sense that it implies the doing of deeds and having an outward effect. It agrees perfectly and meshes with where James talks about being a doer of the word and not being a hearer only.

Phl 2:12-14

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

FOR it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

Jas 1:22-24

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Heeding the SPIRIT and not the flesh . Notice it says HE works in us that which is PLEASING in HIS sight .
By ... THE SPIRIT HE gives unto the lambs . The flesh be very contrary to the Spirit and the SPIRIT contrary to the flesh .
WHO are those who are LED by the SPIRIT . well if they are being LED it means they are FOLLOWING the SPIRIT .
The SPIRIT leads and guides us into all truth . The flesh , YEAH NOT its a contrary monster .
So in essence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling is linked right to OUR OBEDIANCE unto THE SPIRIT .
And the SPIRIT works through the believers to also correct , to instruct , to remind , to etc .
GOD knows how to keep the sheep safe . The problem is that the churches keep trying to find ways
to OMIT parts of the original doctrine , WHICH WAS SPIRIT inspired , WHICH WOULD have and does help REMIND US
Many are abandoning the original words and that pattern that was LEFT to us IN that bible . THEY do so
unto their own destruction and peril . And if one does even try and correct the errors they often are accused
of being judgemental and hateful . AND YET Correction IS FOR GOOD of the church .

Its linked to our obediance . paul even says so . as ye have always OBEYED and not just in my presence only ,
but now much more in my absence , WORK OUT , you own salvation with FEAR and trembling .
He who trembles at my WORD . GOD has always desired obediance and GOD is love
and has made the WAY for mankind to be saved AND to obey , TO WORSHIP HIM in SPIRIT and IN TRUTH as HE has always desired .
IN JESUS THE CHRIST . BY HIM , THROUGH HIM , FAITH IN HIM . We JOY in GOD through CHRIST .
We worship GOD through JESUS THE CHRIST by THE SPIRIT . Tis time folks return to the bible for learning
as i am sure you DO agree dear sister .

Good to confess and be honest . Now crave no more acceptance from man . Learn to love and embrace
acceptance of GOD by JESUS the CHRIST . I want to remind you of something JESUS once said long ago .
HOW much more will MY FATHER GIVE the HOLY SPIRIT to those who ASK HIM . we have all we need my friend .
Pray to GOD for the heart and desire to only love and serve Him better . when asking for wisdom
or anything always do so from a heart that simply does so for one reason , SO WE CAN SERVE GOD better .
Never for selfish ambitions or gain . JUST to KNOW HIM , TO learn OF HIM , TO better serve HIM

AND YET Correction IS FOR GOOD of the church .

Yes, at this point correction is necessary.

Looking back at Israel's experience (which we gentiles are not inclined to do better, but rather to repeat it). They did not get their correction until Jesus came, until the kingdom of God had fallen upon them and crushed many like the Pharisees whose misunderstandings were ultimately the cause of Jesus' crucifixion.

But people don't like to be corrected and would rather die on the hill of their own belief.

We all, I believe, continue to crave the acceptance of people even long after we have met the Master. God does not want or require that we give them up... only that we put Him first. All alone this is probably not possible. Is this not why we must continue to seek? Without Him we can do nothing!
I still wonder if seeing through the glass darkly is being yet blind towards Christ in another.
Just a glimmer of Light, when we receive one can be blinding. Still we are mixture... but we want to be as He is. How far from Him are we now?
Where a veil remains between two fighting who can’t see that which is unseen in each another. But when the veil is removed —taken out of the way—two brothers see face to face in Christ. For example when Saul couldn’t see Christ in Stephen but when the veil was removed, Stephen was one of Paul’s brothers whom he consented to his death. That had to be eyeopening, “I killed a brother.”
Yes, and in my own history I have killed at least a couple of those who would or could be my brothers [not their flesh]. I can look back at my errors as a man of the flesh and also more recently than that. When will it all become clear to us?
Love the above. And also Philippians 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
To be both abased and abounding Reminds me of:John 3:30 He must increase(abound), but I must decrease(be abased).
So then are those things necessary to our growth toward God... that is toward becoming more like Him? Kill the old man and nourish the new man! Give God the glory!
I get everyone sees it differently but that is the only way I know to be both abased and abounding.

I want brotherly kindness.
I don’t want to fake it.

It easy to lack brotherly kindness. I can fake it. You can’t fake the kind of brotherly kindness displayed in the word where one who possesses all things, yet becomes poor that another be made rich. Or where one becomes weak, for another to made strong.
Jesus showed that Way by His life as a man. Love God and love man. Help us dear Lord!
No kidding. Self…seeking. I can relate. Selfishness is in me. I don’t doubt that.
I have yet to meet a person completely without selfishness. I have yet to see myself without selfishness but with God's help by His Spirit we may walk along the right pathway. He will direct us if we will allow it.

I went from desperately craving that people accepted me.

To not one ounce of them accepting me, ..the Holy Spirit accepts me as I am warts and all...I don’t have to crave his acceptance, I know it in my heart/ spirit.

I’m free from all this superficial acceptance, some people are experts on picking up on your insecurities, some are also experts at manipulation and mind games...

I pray for them.

@Ritajanice Yes, I was the same and yes some people do pick up on it and use it. We must forgive and pray for them. Point them to the only one who can save us, the Lord Jesus Christ.
