I work in a truck mfg plant. And it would be ridiculous for women to try to perform their jobs in dresses.@Waiting on him FYI...Well, what do you make of this thread...?
They are old testament statutes, not new covenant statutes. Additionally, why is the focus only on women here, when Leviticus 19:19 states "You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material.", as that applied to both men and women; when's the last time you ensured not to wear cloth made of two kinds of material in this day and age?
Do you/they also limit which foods to eat and stay away from, such as Leviticus 11:9-12 "“These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat. But anything in the seas or the rivers that has not fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you. You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is detestable to you." (also not new covenant, obviously).

Pants, however, are the best thing since sliced bread. They're not getting those back. I embrace my freedom in Christ in this regard!
Pfft, I'm going to make pants out of lobsters, then eat my pants (in my house of course)! Hopefully Jesus will laugh a little ;)

Edible pants. That sounds like something a good, thrifty Christian woman should think of, waste not, want not, and all that! Wear em' then eat 'em!
Sadly, I live too far away from anything resembling water to consider lobster pants. And anything even slightly comparable seems a bit horrific rather than hillarious.
Also, should a pair of lobster pants ever come into existence, photo proof would be appreciated!

What's with only Christian women making pants? Tell a military person that only cleaning is for women, or cooking, or sewing...See what happens when this Christian man thinks of making pants, you can eat 'em too ;) And they'd be delicious, especially soiled with butter.
Are you not near any rivers there in Australia? If so, I guess you could make crocodile pants *shrug*, or was that what you thought of when you said "horrific"?
I'll think of no one else for showing them off once I complete the lobster pants, just don't hold your breath ;)
I think this verse is speaking of transgender more then just clothes and is in the N.T.

I agree that the NT verse in Romans 1:26 speaks of homosexuals (including trans) and not clothes.
I do think the verse in Leviticus 19:19 regarding clothes is just about clothes here (and sowing seeds, and breeding livestock), as Leviticus 18:22 deals with homosexual/transgender statutes: "22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."

Well...we're about an hour away from a smallish river...probably about the only thing you'd find in it would be catfish. Not sure catfish pants would look, or smell, very good. No...my mind went unfortunately to the livestock we mostly find where we are; sheep. I'm not sure HOW you'd make pants out of sheep. I suppose you could do it the traditional way...kill 'em and skin 'em...but that wasn't really in the 'lobster' spirit. Which bought me right back to...yikes.
Happily, we live at the wrong end of Aus to worry about crocodiles...they're mostly up the top end. But we have plenty of snakes and spiders...hurrah! I might perhaps pass over my right to pants if they had to be made out of either of them...

Interesting. Though, not being a Jew, therefore not under the law, it has no application to me on that basis. However, if it is something that the Lord God 'abominates' I think it is something that we should take into consideration, and consider seriously, along with all that is so described, such as:- (Leviticus 18:22; Deuteronomy 18:9-12; Proverbs 11:1; Proverbs 6:16-19).

I don't know any woman who wears men's pants but I know plenty who wear women's pants and women's jeans. And Scotsmen wear kilts which are not women's skirts.

Today the way most women dress is hard to tell them a part from a prostitute, sometimes I think the Muslims got it right, the way their women dress.

The proper application of the Law of Moses is exactly as Jesus said:
Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
There are at least two good reasons for this law. The first is that there were male prostitutes who dressed up like women in order to trick men into having sex with them. There were pagan temples with male prostitutes who dressed up like women too. So this law made it impossible for men in Israel to dress up like women for this sort of thing.
The second reason involves protecting young women who were often at home; but that wasn't enough to protect them from men who wanted to seduce them. The men could dress up like women to sneak into their houses. The neighbors wouldn't notice a "strange man" going in. They would see a woman going in and think nothing of it. Similarly, young women could dress up like men to sneak out of their houses in order to meet men somewhere to have sex.
Curiously there was some tragic news recently from Iran about a woman dressed up like a man. All she wanted to do was attend a soccer game. Women aren't allowed, so she dressed up like a man and tried to sneak in. She was arrested.

At an rate, that verse has nothing to do with women wearing pants unless she's trying to fool people into thinking she's a man for some bad reason. Do such things happen today? They do. I had a non-Christian friend once who told me he picked a "woman" who offered to give him oral sex. Half way through, he discovered "she" was a man.
They definitely had men dressed up like women in some pagan temples. At one time, they even had "houses" close to the Temple. "Sodomites" isn't exactly the right translation -- the pagans called them "holy ones" and that's the word used here:They all wore dresses back then didn't they?
But I think this is more talking about something like transgender. Which is WOW! Even that is in the Bible.
2 Kings 23:7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites<holy ones>, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

You're right, catfish pants would be bad, and not fashionable at all. We could go with dogfish, but it would just pant...;) (yes, it's real, a type of shark)
Perhaps pants made of trout, but then they'd just be troutsers (silent second 't')...ha! ;)
Sheep would be fantastic, if you can get past the how, as you mentioned. Though, like you stated later in your post, I think I'll passover ;) If we were in OT times, we would adhere to God's statute in Leviticus and have pants of a single fabric with Sheep pants though, heh.

I'm sorry, I hope I didn't come off as just an ignorant American thinking that all of Australia has crocs. Here in the USA, we have gators, mostly confined to the SE in the tropical climate. However, never to out do itself, humans take gators as pets in northern states, then release them into the rivers and lakes when they get too big, thus one can find gators (not too common however) in places they shouldn't be.
I'm with you on rejecting snake and spider pants if pants had to be made of them, but we'd have to figure something out so we aren't all pantless; back to plant pants I guess...
