@Douggg, I do not need to receive unsolicited advice from you. You may think that you are providing helpful advice, but the reality is that If I need advice, I have Grandchildren in IT who can help me if I need it and they will come and investigate the actual situation and then provide a solution based on what they uncover.

Goodbye
Well then, have them come over and investigate. And also mention CCleaner to them. I am not having problems that you are.

Jay, the problem may be with your computer. I use a program called "CCleaner" that I clean up my computer so it runs faster on the internet. I think it is around 30 dollars, U.S.

I use this also. It cleans out temp files that slow processing, stuff like that. Works great! And it was free!

Piriform also has another great program, Recuva, for recovering deleted files.

Much love!

I am finding that I am too fast for the forum's computer, particularly because of the advertising overheads.

I am also disappointed that the advertisements at the bottom of the screen reduces the working area of the replying work area.

When I click on a thread to view it, and if I am not interested in the thread, I quickly click on the new posts button, but the forum script believes that I have not viewed that particular thread and so lists that thread again as a new post, but then takes me to the OP post of that thread at the start of the thread. This is frustrating

Now when you commence to reply to another post, can the script be written that it removed the advertising at the bottom of the page.

Thanks.
Jay, it's slow because there are mostly old people on here. (LOL Just kidding.)

Please note that I gave my analysis of the problems that I have experienced on this forum where I fairly explained where issues with connectivity exist.

One of the other issues that causes problems with the CB system is the warm and fuzzy feelings of people who post picture backgrounds to biblical scriptures or graphics. It is not something new. It has been around since the printing press, but in this day and age with computers it has been much easier for people to do and what it does is that these images require more and more storage hardware on the CB network to cope with the whims of the members. On top of that the new owner introduced advertising to offset his costs of operating CB. Yes, we can "hire" for a yearly fee software for our computer to stop the advertisements from being downloaded to our computer. What a wonderful way to get people to part with their money. I have a finite resource of money to live off for the rest of my life and I object to wasting that resource because of other peoples' greed in wanting to acquire my money resource.

My wife and I are a generous couple, but we want our money to be a blessing to help people who are in genuine hardship and so we do not like to feed the leeches who want. At the end of 1999 I stopped work and have focused on Biblical studies, so my income is limited now, and I have to trust that God will help us too wisely use our resources to bless others. Time management is one resource that is often wasted because I spend so much time on this forum. I just wonder how fruitful that is?

Blessings Jay Ross. I prefer to use old windows computers with old windows systems like windows 7 or 10. I use free programs. I would probably be a good hacker but I would have to work for the good side as I can not do wrong, as that is unpleasing to The Lord. My intention in this is for good for you and would like to see you navigating Christianity Board with what you already have. Below I will put what I use that you can use that will help.
Windows 7 or 10
CCleaner free version
Wise Disc Cleaner free
Malware bytes Free
Avg Free or Advast Free Antivirus
I use Firefox free browser with an extension of ad block plus I use and extension of download helper for down
loading videos All of these are free The Malware bytes need to be set to free or they will want you to buy
My neighbors would complain about their laptops slowing to a crawl and I would install these programs kind of like a tune up.
I use CCleaner, Wise disk cleaner and Avg everyday. The ad block in the browser does block the ads here. Also I would google "internet Speed Test" to see what your down load speed actually is verses what you are paying for.
I write these things to you to consider only. Have a Blessed day!

Blessings Jay Ross.

Please note that I am not looking for advice on what I need to do. I already know that my lap top computer is getting to an age where the keyboard will begin to fail, and I will need to replace the computer before that happens. I use a lap top computer so that I can take it with me when I travel. My present Laptop has been overseas with me twice for around 6 months. It allowed me to pay bills at home when they came in.

What I have previously posted was my analysis of why there are issues with connectivity with CB. The primary issues with CB connectivity, with the members, is the responsibility of the owner of the site. Yes, members can tweak their computers to improve their own connectivity with the internet.

Written communication misses out on a number of feedback loops that help in the communications with other people, and it can take months of back-and-forth communications before the participants develop an understanding that actually helps in their written conversation with each other. This ability to learn is often inhibited when others jump in with their two cents worth of their presumed "wisdom."

Yes, a T-model ford was very advanced in its day and some of its features have been incorporated in our modern-day cars but there are only a few people who still have T-model fords in their garage, mainly to just look at rather than to drive because they do not meet our expectations for our present time.

I believe that this topic has run its course now.

Goodbye

Well it was nice getting to know you a bit Jay Ross. If you were my neighbor I would have helped you with your computer or your model T as I used be into cars as a mechanic. Have a Blessed night. Perhaps we will meet again on the forums.

Jay, you are complaining that to view posts, your system is slow. And that you are saying that other posters posting graphs, timeline charts, etc. is slowly the site down....which is not true. The site is not going to limit posters - just because you don't like the timeline posts that others, like me post, and that you don't have the skill nor inclination to make.

Instead of being resentful to the advice others posters are making to help resolve your issues - you should be thankful, and say thanks for the information.

As far as a replacement for your laptop, take a look at the AWOW Mini PC desktop computer, Intel Cleron N3450, Windows 10, on Amazon. They are small and are very affordable, around $130 U.S.

Douggg are you so slow to learn that I am not seeking advice. My computer is not slow, but six months ago I was on an island where MS was timing out because of the slow response of the CB system on the internet. Now what might be appropriate in the USA may not be an option where I am. As such any recommendation that you may be providing is a pointless exercise on your part. Please let the thread fade once more into the ethernet and rest there undisturbed.

Perhaps this thread needs to be locked because it was only dragged up by you six months after it was finished so to speak to give it some air again.

Jay, when you were on the island, the problem may have been in part with your internet provider.

I make posts in this thread and other threads not just for your benefit, but to provide information that other posters and readers may find helpful and informational. These are discussion forums, not blogs.

I don't think is a computer for gaming, but for ordinary use it is fine. btw (for other posters) I used the epic pen program to do a coutout screenshot. I highly recommend that program.

@Douggg what are you trying to sell? I am not interested. You are speaking at me and not with me. I am not asking for your advice. If I had I would have welcomed your advice. As for your justification of helping other, that is just your rationalisation of self-importance.

Please stop addressing me as you are only promoting yourself and your supposed wisdom.
