Is anybody even suggesting that the bible should be worshipped as an idol? I hope not!
Consider the evidence.

I agree. (within reason)
But it was never intended to be an idol. "No other gods before me."

[

The word of God can't be an Idol, as to love the word, to adore the word, is to do the same for the one who caused it to exist.

God speaks to humanity, through the Holy Spirit, primariry and according to the word of God.

Jesus said......."Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and THEY are they which testify of ME."""

Thats "the BIBLE".

So, this is the God man revealing that the BIBLE, is all about Him, and in fact, when a person falls in love with the word, (The Holy Bible) God the Holy Spirit will cause this person who is truly seeking God, to find Jesus in the Bible, everywhere.
This is a supernatural experience that God does not give to carnally religious bible correcters, bible doubters, and greek text pundants, and similar, fools.

When Jesus was rebuking the Devil.......He didnt have a general conversation with Him.....He used the BIBLE , the words in the BIBLE to deal with Him., as the Bible is a SWORD of the Spirit.

So, when we find foolish carnal people.....religious pretenders, pretending to "love" what they insult.....(The bible) then we find a serious offender of The Holy.

Well, I don't have time to read through a 99-page thread. So maybe somewhere in those hundreds of posts there is one from someone who does worship the bible instead of God. I have never come across anybody who does that.

That's a great point. Thank you.
(he's bearing false witness)

It's okay, though, because he hates other bad stuff.

Christianity is, for most people, all about finding something to attack and criticize.

You ask these people what they think of Jesus, and you can easily make out the sound of crickets chirping.

It's like this:

Matthew 22:41-46 NKJV — While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.” He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying: ‘The LORD said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool” ’ ? “If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?” And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymor
e.

Notice, the Pharisees are gathered. And when Christ asks them for their view of the Messiah, He indicates they're on the wrong track, to which they have no reply.

The Pharisees are always gathered, and won't lift a finger to lighten the burden of others. They're too busy broadening their phylacteries with pontification.

Do you understand where the Bible came from?
I think that calling the whole thing "God's Word" is misdirected.

[

This is where we have a definite divergence of views and I have to agree with this:

Here is where the "Bible came from."""..

"ALL scripture.... (Bible)......... is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:""""

However, having said all that,

The word of God can't be an Idol, as to love the word, to adore the word, is to do the same for the one who caused it to exist.

This is a gross misunderstanding. Idol worship involves counterfeit love. Some of the meanest people I know say they love the Bible. It is quite possible to have a Spiritless affinity for Bible facts and/or knowledge, without having any real love for its Author or our neighbor whatsoever. This is one extreme.

The other is seen by some as atheism but, arguably, this assumes that Satan has a ditch dug on only one side of "the narrow way," (read: For Christians) so to speak.

The other extreme, in my opinion, is the view of Christians on the other side of the road that is simply one side of the mutually radicalized conflict of "teams" that are forever taking up all the oxygen.

It is not necessary to hold views like "infallibility" to believe in a literal interpretation of the above-quoted 2 Timothy 3:16.

A perfect example is the Matthew 22 passage I quoted earlier. Were the Pharisees technically wrong to say that Christ is the son of David? No, they weren't. Yet, Christ seems to judge that they were wrong in some (apparently) very meaningful way.

I've never been able to understand why Christians—many very good ones, even—are so helpless to engage in nuanced thought and discussion. Actually, I do understand why, I just can't help marveling at it.

It's fear. People are deathly afraid to be wrong and to have to revise their views. I'm certainly not immune to this condition.

But we're going to have to deal with some of these paradoxes and difficulties if we expect to ever be comfortable in the presence of God and holy angels.

I want to try to get a head start.

Christianity is built on The Cross of Christ, because The Cross of Christ originally birthed the body of Christ. (Daily), for the last 2000 yrs.... regarding all who BELIEVE.
The "Preaching of The Cross" is the "Gospel" that is empowered by the Holy Spirit.
This is found as words in The Bible, that explain it., reveal it, and empower it.

The words of Jesus and the words of God, are found in A Bible.

So, to preach the Cross, is the "Gospel" being shared......that is "the power of God, unto Salvation, regarding all who BELIEVE".. it....and so to love The words of God and the word's of Christ is/are to love where they exist.

This means that when we love the word of God, (The Holy Bible)...we are consistantly adoring BOTH who created it, via the Holy Spirit.

I don't disagree with this in any substantive way.

I also don't see how it addresses what you've quoted from me.

Either there is a counterfeit for the genuine love of the Bible or there isn't.

Either way, it's a person's prerogative to believe as they wish. I'm not interested in coercing anyone's liberty of conscience.

The words that Christ speaks, they are Spirit, they are life. If we don't realize and internalize them as such, we are dry, formal, dead bones.

If what we love most is to be accurate and correct about what His words say, so that we can correct others and hope to win arguments with them, we are mere "Messiah is simply the son of David" Pharisees—whitewashed sepulchres.

If we are all set, self-sufficient, and cannot exclaim, with the father of the boy possessed with a dumb spirit, "LORD I believe; help Thou mine unbelief!" we do not have the child-like dependence on Christ that is required to see the kingdom of Heaven.

Right.
A superiority complex caused by a dim view of humankind. (created in God's image)
In the same way a divorcee hates the image of their mate in their progeny.

My way of agreeing with a statement to make a point without agreeing with it in total.
I often have to (accept) speak the same language as these folks as a method of clear communication.
Otherwise I would have to pick at every word they use. Sounds exhausting.

Do you speak my language,hehehe,lol....I’m pretty simple to understand....lol..

You do start some controversial topics, I think the place would be very boring without you my friend.LOL.

Right.
A superiority complex caused by a dim view of humankind.

What type of "complex" leads a hyper religious person to Post Threads that insult the word of God, because they feel they are (superior) qualitifed to sit in judgement of the word of God, on a publc forum, while at the same time they pretend they "love the bible'.? @St. SteVen ?

I have a reputation as someone who hates the Bible.
This is not true.
When what someone claims about themself contradicts their ongoing behavior, I'm going to listen to the behavior, and not their claims.

Much love!

I think the place would be very boring without you my friend.LOL.
This reminded me of a thought I had as a young adult in the church.
These people talk about the same things over and over. Never anything new.
I came to sort of understand why that was. They were fundamentalists.
The fundamentals were everything. Adding anything was wrong to them.

But it seemed to me that there was plenty of uncharted waters to explore.
And I had questions. Which the church frowns upon.

The forum, for me, is a place to launch out into the deep.
And I discovered that the questions are actually more important than the answers.
Which is troubling to many.
