I used to be an alcoholic and I loved getting drunk. It was pleasurable to me. It's not anymore since I came to Christ because getting drunk is sinful dissipation, but I recall wanting to get drunk a lot before i got saved. What is it about sins like drunkenness, anger, fornication or revenge that feel so "good"? Why would God make the universe like this? Wouldn't it have been better if God made the Holy stuff less strenuous and the evil stuff (ie drunkenness fornication self adulation, etc.) Less appealing? I suppose it's only really appealing to the base and depraved godless minds, but why so? Why is our nature by default, so wicked and unholy?

I may not have phrased things correctly in this thread. That's all for now.

Tl;dr why is sinning pleasurable in the first place, especially when it is against Yahweh?

Nothing is evil within itself. Perhaps maybe some categories like pornography as it can be degrading, and go along extreme cases.

It is what you make of it that is either something you are able to do and part take in or not.

Sinning is not always pleasurable, it can be a pain in the rear. Depending on what you let yourself do. Sin always has some type of consequence to it. No matter what it is.

It’s hard to stay on a straight and narrow path, and we do fall into holes sometimes, Jesus is there to pick us back up and help us, and his grace is sufficient even in our weakness. It is why a good dependent to put down is Jesus, and be encouraged to read your Bible as it is help and beneficial to help your faith and spirit grow.

Sin is pleasurable when we are walking in (living, thinking, focusing on) the flesh. When we are walking in the Spirit, it is not. Thank the Lord for that.

God didn't really directly create things this way. It was a result of the Fall in the garden. Adam and Eve were created in a state of living in the Spirit. Their choice to disobey God, obeying the serpent instead and committing original sin, transformed their bodies, and the physical earth, into a spiritually lower state where the desires of the flesh rule the mind. Most are very susceptible to temptation and the desires of the body, which almost has a mind of its own - literally, until they receive the Holy Spirit.

Then their desires gradually become more and more in line with that of the Spirit. To obey God and cast aside all sinful thoughts, words and deeds.

It is the same as the fruit on the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was "good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate."

The best question ever Friend, and the only answer I can give is to relay Paul's thinking on it, as most of us can relate to it: (Romans 7:21-25) . . .I find, then, this law in my case: When I wish to do what is right, what is bad is present with me. 22 I really delight in the law of God according to the man I am within, 23 but I see in my body another law warring against the law of my mind and leading me captive to sin’s law that is in my body. 24 Miserable man that I am! Who will rescue me from the body undergoing this death? 25 Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So, then, with my mind I myself am a slave to God’s law, but with my flesh to sin’s law.

The obvious answer then is inherited sin, imperfection. I certainly hope that when we are perfect, those desires of the flesh will no longer prove to be a thorn in our flesh. God created us with the natural inclination to do right, not to have the desires of the flesh.

I suppose it would be fun to rob a bank and spend all they money I stole, but I'd probably get caught and thrown into prison. So I guess it's fun to take what is not yours, in the short run. In the long run, it isn't so fun.
