On the other hand God gave us the gift of discernment to decide for ourselves, so I personally wouldn't like to pester him for guidance..;)

God is not like a worldly father. He delights his children and if discernment was used in the O/P, this topic would be moot ;)

I'm gonna pick the one who needs the job the most and the one who actually wants to do their job.
I mean, yes, I'm going to expect the Christian person to have more moral values, but the right fit is going to be the person who WANTS to do the job.
One would expect that the Christian not only wants the job, but wants to do an excellent job, since everything the Christian does is done as unto the Lord.
Which by difinition are not real.
Like the king's heart in God's hand . . . you can turn it wherever you want.

And that is wisdom. I used the same criteria when employing people as well. I would chose the plodders rather than the high fliers, because the plodders would do the tasks set for them and be content in their work whereas the high fliers would be casting their eyes around them looking for a better opportunity. Their loyalty was only to themselves and they would move on quickly leaving you in a pickle as often as not.
The plodder often appreciated the confidence that you had placed in them in giving them the job.

When you are dating look for Christian values.
It doesn't mean the person will be the best match but may avoid mean situations where no values turn up and makes it to ugly.
His words have proven so true.
If your hiring you should have enough experience to throw out situations and ask for how to handle those.
Good values will give good answers, while no values may only get you a plank stare.
Otherwise flip a coin

I have employed around 100 labours or so and it came down if they wanted to work that's all I wanted, I worked out that any reference meant nothing regardless even if they were tradesmen.
What is on paper is one thing and reality is another ! I was always disappointed with what was on paper claiming X,Y,Z as most impressive on paper were a disappointment.
Most lasted the day out but were just to sore to come to work the next day.
Some tried real hard but the heat smashed them that hard that they had to give up, as they were just sitting about cooked ready to pass out.
Don't worry I have been flat on my back for 10 or 15min on the concrete floor myself at times as I was that jiggered from the heat and exhausted. I would not last 1 hour nowadays.
The Government etc talk about so much BS Age discrimination etc etc, so you can not discriminate ? but if one can not discriminate then you are a moron because to be able to discriminate is a function of reality in fact, Your too old ? your too fat ? your what ever ? is all down to who employs you in fact, not because of prejudice at all ? but just reality. Can you run 30 miles in X time ? your too fat it's just fact, can you pick up 50kg and walk up steps all day not to mention a ladder with 20kg box because the owner of the house does not want anyone walking through the house.

I have known many Christians that have had the church beat out of them. Or maybe said better the Church HURT out of them. They don't deny Christ but negatively question the Christian Church. Their negative attitude towards CHURH gets them labeled non Christian. But that is just an earthly label!
Their lifestyle is a Christian lifestyle and when you get behind the facade created from pain they are Christian to the bone. Maybe even stronger Christians than is believable. I know several that great preachers said, are knowing enough Christians to teach me Jesus. But those great preachers didn't offer the simplest invitation, just continued the questioning of "why aren't you in church?"
That is the human failing of only seeing the outwards Appearances.

Since I've hired and fired people. Avoid the religious question and focus on what makes you think there is one person that stands out from the pair. You can always terminate a mistake.
I'm the only person you will ever know that fired an employee that to this day, thinks he retired.
I would memorize a person's resume before I sat down with him or her for the interview. When I sat before you, I had nothing in my hands and started my interview with "I know your work history, know what's on paper ....now tell me about you." No trick questions, no gotcha approach ..tell me about you. What motivates you? What concerns you?
I'm a rebel at heart. I'll turn the process upside down in a quest to get the right person. I was down to two people. The position was for an account specialist for international sales. The majority of that territory involved Hispanic Countries. I had two candidates one Hispanic and the other was white, one language. You would think the Hispanic had the lead ....Both women. I leaned more to the white woman than the Hispanic ...there was something I could not put my finger on. Made no sense. I got all of my Account Specialists in the Main Conference Room and brought one woman in the morning and other after lunch. The team asked questions I never considered. My team thought the Hispanic Woman was the best ....I was still not convinced, there was something wrong. Human Resources called me into their office and asked what I was considering. Before I could answer ...."Her company she works for right now called me and warned that she is a discrimination suit waiting to happen." The Hispanic girl did not get the job. My suspicions were correct. Discrimination? Prove it.
The girl I hired was aces .....I walked into the office at 6AM each morning, my staff at 8AM ....except for Helen. She was there when I walked in. I called her into my office "Do you sleep here? You are here before I am and leave after I leave at 6PM. What's going on?" Her husband had been laid off and he was taking part time assignments until he could find a full time job. They were down to one car. He dropped her off at 5:45 each morning and picked her up at 6:15 each night.
Helen worked like a dog.
The guy I fired. I had worked with him over and over and he still didn't get the message. He sent me a email telling me he was going to change his job. Not asking to change, tell me he was going to change. He mentioned stress. He was the cause of his stress because he wouldn't listen to me. The last paragraph of his letter stated "If I don't get moved as I demand, I'll retire." Sitting in HR, I was told "The President and VP supports what ever decision you make. No questions asked." I sat for a minute and said "Best retirement letter I've ever read" Mary said "What?" I replied, "Read the last paragraph. "Do as I say, or I'll simply retire." "I like that. I accept his threat." "I'm calling my staff into the Main Conference Room and make the announcement now. Want to be there with me?" Mary got up "I have to see this. He has no warning."
Walked in and told the entire staff ...."After 25 years of service, Mike has decided to retire at the end of this month. Congratulate him in his retirement."
