... and why does he use this 666 "code?"

Verse 17 uses the phrase "the number of his name." No one has a definitive answer for what is meant by that phrase,... yet. (Not every unbeliever will receive that version of the mark.)

I'm not totally positive, but I think Martin Luther and the Reformers for that time period and for some time afterwards ,
God Clearly Revealed this to, in line with all Scripture.

I think that is "spot on!"

I have been pondering this...scripture says many will come in my Name claiming to be the Messiah, The Christ, Jesus...but do not believe them....many....now I haven't heard of any coming in his name claiming to be Christ....so I wonder if there will be like a flood of them appearing all over the world.
