How often do you pray each day?

Do have specific prayers for each part of the day?

Do you recite the Lord’s Prayer (or a variation)?

Do you have special prayers for special situations?

(By the way, here is a pet peeve: a congregation that mindlessly drones the Lord’s Prayer.)

Blessings

Interesting questions Bob! I talk to the Lord a lot during day and night.. sometimes comments sometimes asking a question of Him and other times lifting a person in prayer that pops into my mind. I figure if they come to mind I lift them in prayer. So I couldn't count the times really.

Yes I do have specific prayer blessing and thanking for my meals each day.

Occasionally I am led to pray the Lords prayer but not a routine I do regularly, only if it pops into my mind. I do know it by heart though.

Special situations in a way yes, watchman type prayers I call them. My prayers are often but short and to the point and use God's words where I can not my words, so gospel or OT prophets verse.

What about you?

The Lord will bring people to my mind to pray for and sometimes in my dreams too , and it can be someone I have not thought of in a long time .
My prayers are often but short and to the point
It can be and emergency prayer that is short , I once said " Lord Jesus !" and braced for impact . Praise God we were spared the collision .

Thank you for your post.

A. More regular prayer is definitely needed in my life: for thanks and for assistance. (Deuteronomy 6:5)
My tendency is to be distracted, and self-centeredness is my “thorn in the flesh.”

B. Having heard so many reflexive recitations of the Lord’s Prayer, I now employ it as an outline:
—-acknowledging God in all His goodness and all He has done for me and my family
—-giving thanks for all the basics in my life (e.g., not just food but a home, vibrant community, loving family, ….)
—-praying for those being persecuted, suffering from ill health, mourning the loss of loved ones, those lacking basic necessities, those carrying heavy burdens, . . . .
—-asking forgiveness for not only harm I caused but any generosity missed
—-pledging forgiveness to others as needed (holding no grudges, bearing no ill will, letting go hate & animosity)
—-praying for guidance & mentoring from Him when tempted to stray

Blessings

Prayer is simply talking to God, so it can be done many times throughout the day. Praise and worship is prayer, too, I think. Any time that we pray, we should always address our Father reverently. He loves to hear from us; so every day and at any time, tell the Creator of the world that you love Him. :woohoo!:

It is easy to concentrate on our wants which is not as it should be , I am guilty of this .

All the time! Life is crazy, I've grown so dependant on Him, He's just always in the room with me, we talk.

In the morning before work I pray with my wife, and we do have certain prayers we tend to pray, along with the needs of the day. We give thanks for the day, and each other. We pray for President Trump and VP Elect Vance, and for this nation. In the evening is when we tend to pray for salvation for our unredeemed loved ones. When we pray together at work - which we need to do today - it's always company related, for the owners, customers, us.

Many many of my prayers are like, "Oh no God! Now look what I've done! It's a mess! Help me please!"

Great questions, good to think about!

Much love!

It can be and emergency prayer that is short , I once said " Lord Jesus !" and braced for impact . Praise God we were spared the collision .

I did the same thing! I was driving at work and coming down a business section of town and I saw a small pickup truck waiting to merge into traffic from a strip mall. It was a woman, and we met eyes and she was at full stop...until I was almost right beside her and then she steps on it coming right at me. Busy traffic, nowhere to go.

Have you even been in a fender bender and saw it coming? There is a moment of, Brace for impact that comes to you when it is inevitable. I looked over and she was right at that point about to run into me, here it comes...and I said, Jesus. Sort of a half tone at the moment of impact. I looked forward again anticipating having to control my vehicle until it is stopped...

And I drove smoothly up the road. No impact at all. I thought, What Happened?! She was too close to be able to miss me and yet somehow, she did. Praise the Lord!!!!!

Now few years later I get the feeling that it was a spiritual attack on me. And I passed with one word, Jesus! We had eye contact, she knew I was there. So it was deliberate. I would have lost my job even if it wasnt my fault, that was a good company but they were not big on extra vehicles! Praise the Lord again for that!

Oh, the thread! I always wake up about 3 or 4 AM and that is a great time to pray.

Then I read my bible, and my bible reads me, lol. The best time to read too!

Then it's all day long as circumstances warrant it.

I talked with the Lord about this very thing before. I would feel a little convicted to only come to Him with, gimmee gimmee gimmee it seemed like all the time almost. IIRC I was apologizng to the Lord for mostly coming to Him when I need something...I ont remember exactly, but I remember what He said! He said Ask me. Ask me Ask me! This is fine with Me. Of course I know what you need already, but ask me anyway, it's ok!

And I was like, Whoa. I stand corrected!

I chewed on it for a bit and have come to the conclusion that He loves the conversation with us! So it is ok to ask Him anything.
That also might be why He is so vague with us most the time. He's not big on details I noticed! Because e wants us to ask Him the details? Makes for a longer conversation, which He loves!

Here is what I was talking about in post above .

My family and I were stopped abruptly on a rain slick highway behind a car turning left and as I looked in my rear view mirror I saw a pick-up truck that was pulling a cattle trailer and it was jackknifing unable to stop in time to avoid running into us . The only words I got out were "Lord Jesus !" . A second or two later the pick-up managed to get straight and come around us on the shoulder of the road . I will never forget the sight of the truck going by and the relief I felt , Praise God !

How often do you pray each day?

Reader, there is "talking to God and Jesus" and then there is "on your knees in prayer".

Its all the same.

Do have specific prayers for each part of the day?

No.
I have specific prayers for specific needs., when needed.

Do you recite the Lord’s Prayer (or a variation)?

Never.

Prayer is conversation with God, not reading a prayer or reciting a ritual.

Now .. PRAISE, is different.. as you can be more "rote" about that, and it still be authentic, = from the Heart.

Do you have special prayers for special situations?

Often..

And Reader.

Before you go to sleep, each night......Tell God and Jesus "Goodnight"

And in the morning, tell them....>>"Good Morning".

Mother Theresa suggested that, and its a good to do it.
You'll see.

(By the way, here is a pet peeve: a congregation that mindlessly drones the Lord’s Prayer.)

Blessings

They probably hate doing it as much as you would hate to hear it.

Going to Church should not feel like torture., it should be a place where you want to go back.

When Do You Pray?

First I will define the meaning of “PRAY”…according to my Understanding…

* Being…Me having a “conversation…/ communication”…expressly with:
The Lord God Almighty.

* How often? Continually throughout any given day… .Not much different than continually throughout any given day, I have a conversation with my spouse, kids, neighbors, relatives, strangers etc.

Glory to God,
Taken

I figure God is close by, so I just talk to Him during the day. Sometimes I'll listen too.

There are times, like early in the morning, or when my emotions are running high, when I'll assume the traditional prayer position (making sure not to kneel on the Sneaky Labrador's leg or tail) and have a more dedicated prayer time.

God taught me to rely and trust him, so daily.

Why so quick to dismiss the Lord's prayer? The Mennonites and Amish use the Lord's prayer because it covers all bases and it is what Jesus said himself.

I don't have carefully planned out prayers. When I'm overwhelmed, I get mad and ask while I'm mad. When I'm depressed, I cry out because I'm upset. When I'm rejoicing, I give thanks.

He is still listening.

I think I've had the best responses to prayer just writing them out in the morning, thanks to Diane Moody's Confessions of a Prayer Slacker. Very good book, BTW.

The truest form of worship is the one laid down to Him. It doesn't need to be complicated. Just hand it over.

When Do You Pray?

Is it like asking, do you have designated times when you talk to the one you love?
....or is it more along the lines of, what is the minimum amount of brownie points I can get away with?
perhaps it's, 'my routine has been practised for ex amount of time, I'm sure God wont consider it paltry'?

We could stretch the imagination further, like, when sh.t happens or when the lottery is won.....maybe when you're looking for the keys, perhaps gunning for your sports team to win or grandma is about to expire?

Paul says, 'without ceasing'. This of course would make it terribly inconvenient for those using rosary beads. asxx

Quick to dismiss the Lord’s Prayer? My pet peeve is a congregation that mindlessly drones it. Any prayer, but that one in particular, deserves sincere and thoughtful recitation, as we communicate deeply with God.

“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them that trespass against us.” This verse is such an important characteristic of Love Your Neighbor, coupling two major commandments: (a) to make amends to the injured person and enlist God to help in avoiding future harm, and (b) to hold no grudge, bear no ill will, and let go any anger & animosity toward an instigator. Packed into this verse are God’s commandments to take personal responsibility for the consequences of our actions, and remain gentle & peaceful in the face of violence from others.

Blessings.
