lol, no I think we are ill prepared. Buses and trains often stop because they don’t grit the roads. We don’t have any rules for winter tyres ( in Germany they have to change their tyres in autumn - they carry on as normal when it snows) . Schools often close, which could fit into your scenario as that is a health and safety issue. Back in the 60’s we got sent home once, no parents to pick us up ( we were under 10 ) and we had to walk home in a blizzard. Thankfully a neighbour took me in until my mum got home, my twin brother nearly froze to death !!
Walking in the blizzard indeed...I remember doing that when I was 5 years old. Getting on and off the bus and walking home with my gumboots inside soaking wet because the snow was higher than my short legs....I remember even struggling to even walk.lol

I don't think it will be too bad here inland, I think it's the coastal areas that are mostly affected. Although the forecast for Saturday afternoon is saying winds of up to 40mph.
That must be really scary each year you face those, makes our weather systems seem quite lame at times.

I was thinking the same. It’s been overcast here: raining off and on for three days. But reading what others weather is like …I have it mild. 70 for the high.

It's been grey and overcast for most of the day but 18C and then heavy rain.
It's drop dead gorgeous in south Texas right now. The birds are on my feeders, the sun is shining, the pigeons are singing to me, my Yorkie is on my lap and I have a tall glass of iced tea. I might get out my guitar and sing back to the birds. On second thought, that usually makes them leave.

Finally saw a couple of dry spots after a few days of rain. It hasn't been cold even though it's on the way to winter. Rains a lot here during winter time. It is 58 degrees this evening - Time 7.27pm.
