There is apparently an urban myth that a person can swallow their tongue. We as children that grow up into adults learn things differently depending on our life experiences and influences. We are a divers people with our direction towards the true God, Jesus the Christ, although our Christian religious organizations may differ.

I've been epileptic for most of my life, so I've heard and read al about those oldwives tales. WHen I was a kid and had a seizure, they would try to stuff a sppon in my mouth to hold down my tongue? I guess to stop me from swallowing my tongue? Weird, it defies reason.

What it amounts to is when a person is having a seizure...do not lay them on their back or they can arise a real danger of the persons tongue rolling back and blocking the airway! So what people should do to one who is having a seizure is to roll them onto either side and move things away so they dont sit there seizure and start banging their head around. I've woke up with lumps before quite a few times!

When their on their side then their tongue can not obstruct the airway.
