So, that means you can't even give the child time to drop the gun which he was clearly doing in the video? They probably had their guns raised and cocked just in case he was going to start firing. That's how it is at least in all of the TV shows and movies that I've seen.
The thing is, in order for the kid to drop the gun, means the gun was in his hand.
Gun in hand facing a Police Officer, is NOT a safe manner for anyone.
Anyone who decides to carry a gun, and has the gun in hand, is indication of intent to use it.
