Jesus saith unto him [Thomas], I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Jn 14:6 KJV)

A detailed exposition of this verse would be rather extensive. But what it reveals to all immediately is the absolute uniqueness and the absolute necessity of Christ for all mankind. It is a total refutation of all the religions and religious leaders of the world. But just to focus on Jesus as "the Way":

1. It is important to note that the earliest Christians were followers of "the Way" as mentioned several times in the Bible. Here is what Paul (who originally persecuted the followers of the Way) said in Acts 24:14: But this I confess unto thee, that after the Way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.

The "strait" or narrow gate is Christ Himself -- His Person and His finished work of redemption. In order to be saved, we must be in Christ, and Christ must be in us. The narrow way is all the commandments of Christ and the apostles, which are contrary to the spirit of the world, the flesh, and the devil. And there will be relatively few who will choose Christ.
