There are certainly a whole lot of things I don't, and even can't understand. And this is most apparent when I actually spend time walking and talking with the Lord our God, Jesus Christ. He is the living Word of God, and 'The Word of God' is His name! (Rev 19:13). Abram knew His as the word of the Lord, who came and talked with Him, and did the prophets of Old who wrote "the word of the Lord came to me saying".
Now when we talk about ears to hear and eyes to see, we all ( or virtually all of us) have physical ears to hear and eyes to see, and we use them. So our physical ears and eyes are not what the Lord is talking about. God is spirit!!!
When Abram heard from the word or the Lord, he heard saw Him and hear Him in a vision - so absolutely not with his physical ears!!
Gen 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying,
“Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.”
Now that is a pretty good representation of how I hear the Lord. I hear Him in my spirit, not with my physical ears. OH, a couple of times I heard and it seemed like it was with my physical ears, but I don't believe it was. I don't have any proof that is was, and indeed proof that it was not ever with my physical ears, that I hear Him. And why would it, since God is spirit?
Jn 24:4 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Now I am pretty sure that John Paul Jackson knows this, or at least should. He is know for getting dreams and visions from the Lord. And I don't mean to denigrate him. Indeed my wife, before I knew her help a little in his ministry. She tells me that he knows about hearing from our Lord. So is the blood of Christ we are talking about a physical blood, or are we actually talking about the Spirit of the Lord which surely flows through Him?
Ps 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old,
Perhaps the biggest problem I have with understanding the Lord comes down to the fact that He is spirit, and since I am in the flesh (animal skins?) that I tend to interpret the things He tells me with a fleshy context. So why did everyone leave Jesus when He told them the had to drink of His blood and eat of His flesh. Did he not mean that we needed to pick up His Holy Spirit, which tends to flow through Him to us, and listen to His words which also come through His Holy Spirit? And didn't Jesus Christ say something about Him being the manna (bread) that comes down out of heaven? And we also find that His words are spirit and are life to us, which is kind of like what physical food is to our physical bodies, right?
And we also find that the Lord at one point says that He is tired of the sacrifice of animals- that blood.
Is 1:11 “What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me?”
Says the LORD.
“I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fed cattle;
And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs or goats.
So they were missing the whole point, were they not?
Indeed, did the Lord kill and animal in the garden to get an animals skins for Adam or Eve, or did He just make those animal skins?
Gen 3:21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.
It looks like He just made them to me. And what are those skins, exactly. Are us having nylon clothing ok?
Frankly, I have never found it about the physical but the spiritual, when I talk to the Lord. It is about love, about kindness, and mostly about just listening to Him who is Love, and kindness. It seem to me that He knows what love looks like a lot more than I do!
He once told me, "Karl, people want to tell others all about Me, instead of about Me."
Yeah, I would tell others all about Him, but really the only way is to actually get to know Him for yourself. Yet I will give you this piece of advice - God is spirit so the Word of God we preach is found in your heart and coming out your mouth.
