Fully realize we all have different perspectives so this is only one perspective out of many. Only want to share what “the Lord repented” has revealed to me in my heart. why it matters(Imo) is because it has helped me to see Him as “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
As odd as that may sound in to have “a change of mind” ...His unwavering, unchanging “Godly sorrow works repentance to Salvation” Godly sorrow working repentance unto Life not to be repented of.
The Lord repented. To begin this study or looking at “the Lord repented” consider 2 Corinthians 7:8-13 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
pausing there. In the above “though I made you sorry...I do not repent, though I did repent.” To be made sorry...and at the time to repent of one being made sorrowful ... but though I did repent, I don’t repent that you were made sorrowful “For Godly sorrow worketh repentance (a change of mind) to salvation not to be repented of.” And “I perceive the same letter that made you sorry, for a season” has had an effect (a change)in you unto Life ...not to be repented of, though I did repent, I do not repent.”
[9] Now I rejoice, ( not in your suffering)not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: (you sorrowed into a change of mind) for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. [10] For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. [11] For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! (What Vengeance! “vengeance belongs unto Me says the Lord”) In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. [12] Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you. [13] Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.
Also “repent” to be made sorrowful after Godly sorrow which worketh repentance unto Life (salvation IS of the Lord) not to be repented of: “a change of mind, to console, comfort” with “Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you. [13] Therefore we were comforted in your comfort:”
“The Lord repented”
The Lord was sorry or sorrowful. consider Which sorry or sorrowful was The Lord?
Godly sorrow working repentance to salvation not to be repented of? Godly sorrow working repentance unto Life?
Or the sorrow of the world worketh death?
Luke 9:56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.
